Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 201
Chapter 201: _We Fight Back
Soft golden light peeked through the windows, gently lighting up my suite.
The scent of lavender lingered in the air, bringing a calm ambience that I had missed so much. I no longer felt the suffocating energy of the Ancient Ones’ realm.
My hands trembled as I touched the soft silk sheets beneath me.
I was back in my room.
Then, realization hit me like a punch to the gut.
The blinding light was meant to take us back.
It had worked.
We had traveled back.
But my joy was short-lived as I remembered Negan. He was still back there. I didn’t know if he was alive or not.
My last memory of him was his still body and how we had brutally sacrificed him for the pack.
In this time, there was no Negan. And maybe, there was no Beta too.
The weight of our decision slammed into me, and my chest tightened in pain as my eyes filled with tears.
My lower lip quivered as I desperately tried to fight back the tears that threatened to fall. But before I could get lost in the guilt, a knock on my door made me jolt.
I instinctively wiped the tears from my face as quickly as I could.
The door opened, and a group of maids entered, each of them wearing bright smiles on their faces.
One of them stepped forward, bowing slightly. “Luna, we are here to help you get ready.” The others nodded along happily as if she had just delivered great news.
I was not in the mood for this.
I gave a dismissive wave of my hand. I knew how to get dressed by myself.
“Don’t bother. I can do that myself.” I said tiredly.
The smiles fell from their faces, as if my words had wounded their pride.
“But, Luna, we have to help…”
Her words were cut short as my door burst open.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” A familiar voice snapped.
I turned just in time to see my brother, Caleb, storm in. He stood at the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, his forehead creased in frustration.
“Phoebe, do you have any idea what time it is? The wedding is happening, and you’re still in bed!” He scolded, throwing his arms in the air.
The wedding.
For a second, his words didn’t register. My mind was still stuck in the ritual, the Ancient Ones, and the painful choice we had made.
Caleb’s words had brought me back to this reality.
Now, I knew what time they had brought us back to.

Kaene and I were supposed to get married today.
Oh, Goddess.
I slapped my hand over my mouth in shock.
The hunters attacked today.
We had no time to waste.
I threw the blankets aside, jumping out of bed. My heart pounded against my chest as I rushed to the door, shoving past Caleb.
“Phoebe!” he called after me, but I didn’t stop or look back.
I needed to find Kaene.
The hallway was buzzing with excitement.
Maids rushed past me, carrying flowers and expensive jeweleries, their voices filled with joy. And their laughter echoed through the air.
Everything was being prepared for what should have been the happiest day of my life.
But I had no interest in wearing a wedding gown.
I turned the corner leading to Kaene’s suite and then I saw him.
He stood outside his room, already dressed in a black royal suit embroidered with silver.
He looked just like he had in my dream.
Except this time, he was real.
He turned before I could speak, but I still spoke regardless.
“Why are you dressed?” I shot him a glare, placing my hands on my hips.
“You’re awake.” He said softly, stepping toward me. His eyes were filled with an indescribable pain.
The same guilt was weighing him down too. The unspoken truth that we could never truly go back to how things were before.
“I woke up this way, already dressed.” He said.
“We can’t do this.” I blurted out.
He didn’t ask what I meant.
He already knew.
His jaw tightened. “I know.”
The world around us still bubbled with excitement, but only we knew what was coming.
“The hunters are already preparing. They’ll come for the pack, just like they did before. But this time, we can stop them before they strike.” I said with a new resolve and determination.
His fists clenched at his sides. “You’re right. I was thinking the same thing.”
I exhaled sharply, relief flooding through me.
I thought he would disagree and lecture me on how I need to hide.
“We won’t hold the wedding, we will hunt the hunters instead.” His voice was cold and commanding.
I gave a nod, understanding his point. “Then let’s find the others before it’s too late.”
We turned to leave, but then we froze in our tracks.
Because the moment we stepped forward, a presence filled the hallway.
Elder Gita stood right in front of us, as if she had always been there.
Her white robe swayed slightly, and her piercing eyes locked onto us.
“Elder Gita?” I muttered under my breath.
She had a warm smile on her face, the kind that reminded me of my mum.
“I’m glad that you survived the ritual.” She said.
Kaene squinted his eyes at her. “How are you here?”
She didn’t answer.
She stepped closer, her gaze didn’t falter.
“There’s no time for questions. Let’s meet the others. I will explain everything after, we have a war to win.” She said firmly.
Her words confused me.
She hadn’t been with us during the ritual. She hadn’t been there when we met the Ancient Ones.
Yet, she spoke as if she knew everything.
“Where are the others?” I asked irritated.
“Already waiting,” she said sharply.
Kaene and I exchanged glances, then nodded.
There was no turning back now.
“One more thing,” Elder Gita’s voice rang out.
“Don’t feel guilty for leaving Negan behind.”
I glared at her, she clearly doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
She smiled, matching my gaze “Trust me.”
What the hell was she talking about?
The training grounds were filled with tension and murmurs when we arrived.
Sir Elijah, Sir Alan, and Lycan Davos stood in a straight line, their faces grim.
I stared at Sir Elijah with disdain.
That selfish bastard.
Warriors lined up in a battle formation and the irony was that they were all dressed in tuxedos.
“Isn’t today supposed to be their wedding?”
“Why were we summoned for battle?”
“Are we attacking another pack?”
Those were what I heard from the warriors and their murmurs only grew louder.
But despite everything, the weight and guilt pressing against my chest. I felt ready.
Ready to fight back.
Ready to stop the blood-bath before it could happen.
Ready to make sure Negan’s sacrifice wasn’t in vain.
Kaene stepped beside me, his presence steady and powerful.
He turned to the warriors, his voice loud and clear. “Today, our pack faces a great threat like never before, the hunters.”
“But we will be ready to defend our homes, our lives, and our loved ones.” He declared, stepping closer to the battle formation.
As he spoke, the warriors exchanged glances, they looked confused even, but not once did fear flash across their faces.
“This wedding will not hold.” Kaene’s voice rang through the air.
“The hunters are lurking, patiently waiting for us to gather in the hall. But we will strike them before they get the chance.”
“So, are you ready?” He roared, raising a balled fist above his head.
The warriors roared in excitement.
We were ready to fight back
