Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 202
Chapter 202: _The Battle
The air in the training grounds was thick with restless energy. The warriors roared in excitement and their faces carried determination.
Kaene continued, his voice boomed with authority and dominance. “The hunters are hiding in the forest, just beyond the pack’s borders. We will move in groups, no one fights alone.”
I didn’t understand how he knew where they were hiding, but I let go of the thought. All that mattered was getting rid of the hunters.
The warriors listened attentively, nodding in understanding as he continued.
“We will be in four teams. Alan, Elijah, Lycan Davos and I will lead each team.” He proceeded to divide the warriors present into four teams.
I stood impatiently as I watched him divide them. We honestly had no time.
The hunters could arrive any minute. I was anxious.
“We will move together, but split up once we near their camp. Team one will attack head on from the front, distracting them. We will take down their defenses and weaken them.” He gestured for a a group of warriors to move next to him.
“Team two will charge from the west, attacking them from both sides when they dispatch their men to the front line for support.” He turned to Sir Elijah, his voice was cold but professional.
I noticed the change in his tone when he spoke to Sir Elijah, he didn’t like him. I didn’t like him either, but I couldn’t deny his expertise when it comes to wars.
“Team three will stay behind, to take care of any strays that may manage to reach the pack.” He pointed at Sir Alan, who nodded and quickly gathered his men.
Keane continued his roll of commands. “Team four will be our back up, attacking from the rear.” He said as he finally breathe out.
Lycan Davos bowed slightly, noting that the command was meant for him and the last group of warriors.
“What about me?” I asked, swallowing hard, my heart pounding.
I wanted to fight, I needed to be part of the battle. I couldn’t just sit back and wait.
I refused to be kept indoors.
Kaene turned to me, “We lead together.” He said.
I smiled. Those were the first ones had made me smile in a very long time.
I was afraid he wouldn’t let me join.
“We will take them by surprise and wipe them out before they can touch our pack.” Kaene ordered.
The battle spirit filled the air and the warriors
Growled lowly in unison, baring their fangs and claws out.
This was it.
We were ready to fight back.
As the growls of the warriors increased, they were waiting for one thing. The Alpha’s howl.
A signal for the battle to begin, but we didn’t have our wolves.
I glanced at Kaene and I saw the panic in his eyes. Maybe he had tried to reach his wolf but to no avail.
I tried to reach mine too when a sharp pain surged through my body and my head felt like it was hit by a rod.
I grabbed my head in pain as I staggered, losing my footing. My eyes met Kaene’s just in time to see him look like he was in pains too .

Just as I was about to fall, I heard my wolf’s loud howl in my head. My wolf was back.
The pain was gone in an instant and my feet regained their balance. And then, I heard an almighty howl.
It came from Kaene and the rest of the warriors followed suit. It was a majestic moment, Kaene’s powerful howl reverberated through the training ground.
Keane turned to me, stepping closer. “Don’t wander off on your own, we do this together.” His tone hinting a warning in it.
I scoffed.
I was not a baby and I know when things get dangerous, but I’m strong enough to fight the hunters.
We stepped out of the training ground with our respective groups as we headed to the forest.
As we moved through the pack, the pack members whispered among themselves and they stared at us in confusion.
Those that weren’t in the hall waiting for us were shocked to see the bride and groom walking towards the forest with a group of warriors.
If only they knew we were fighting for them.
We moved stealthy through the dense forest, our footsteps silent against the cold floor of the forest.
The wind carried more snow flakes in the forest and our feet sank in the snow. It was supposed to be a winter wedding but, here we are.
I shivered slightly, I didn’t know if it was from the cold or from the fear pumping in my veins. I dared not make Kaene know, so I shook off the cold because he would send me back in an instant.
My heart pounded fast as we got closer. I could pick the sounds of leaves rustling and indistinct chats and laughter.
Kaene raised a hand, signaling for everyone to stop. We hid behind thick bushes and trees, our eyes focused on the clearing ahead.
There they were.
The hunters.
Armed men in dark leather armor stood watch, their weapons shining despite the pale atmosphere.
I counted at least twenty of them, all standing watch and armed to the teeth, but it’s nothing we couldn’t handle.
In the clearing itself were over two hundred men and women, brandishing their weapons and getting ready for the battle.
They were happy, some even hummed a song while cleaning their weapons.
The sight of them fueled my rage.
Every iota of cold or fear in me was replaced with anger. I clenched my fists, my heart beat quickened with rage.
What had we done so wrong to them?
Kaene turned to Sir Elijah’s and Lycan Davos’ team. “Get into position, you know what to do.”
Sir Elijah gave a sharp nod before signaling to his men. They disappeared into the forest, their movements swift and soundless.
Lycan Davos gave a slight bow before leaving with his team.
We were the last team left.
Keane turned to me, holding my hands, “We do this together, stay by my side.” I nodded and he planted a soft kiss on my lips.
I had missed moments like this, just me and him having a quiet time. I was ready to fight for my home.
Kaene wasted no time, turning to the warriors. “Go.”
At his command, my wolf howled and I brought out my claws.
We ran through the forest, straight into the clearing.
The battle had begun.
I lunged at the first hunter in my path, dodging his blade as I slashed my claws across his throat. He gurgled, holding his neck as he collapsed.
I was ruthless and I gave no room for the hunters to react.
I was releasing my pent up anger and frustration from the witches and from the loss of Negan.
While I fought, I glanced at Kaene who moved like a monster, his claws cut through the hunters like butter. His strikes were brutal and filled with rage.
A hunter charged at me with a dagger, his eyes wide with evil. I sidestepped his attack and pierced his side with my claws.
He gasped as he staggered backwards. He swung his dagger at me, a desperate attempt to hit me. I easily dodged it, swiping his neck with my claws, finishing him in one go.
Sir Elijah and his warriors ran through the clearing, leaving a trail of bodies in their paths. I was in awe of his movements, they were efficient and deadly.
Lycan Davos shifted into his wolf form, his massive wolf tore through the limb of the hunters like a fast train.
Screams filled the air, but none of them were ours.
We were winning.
I turned in time to see Kaene in a heated battle with who looked like the leader. The hunter was armed with double swords at his back, a dagger in both sides of his thighs..
He snarled, pushing against Keane with brute force, “You should have stayed in your palace, Alpha.” The man spat, forcing Kaene to move backwards.
“And let you destroy my people?” Kaene smirked. Lycan Davos cam from the back, tearing the hunter’s leg out from under him.
The man stumbled and Kaene didn’t hesitate.
With a swift move of his hand, he stabbed through his stomach, ripping out the man’s gut.
Some hunters remained adamant, fighting with Sir Elijah and the warriors while a few of them realized they stood no chance and tried to run.
Kaene turned to Lycan Davos whose wolf was bloodied and had a few arrows sticking out from his back, “No survivors.” He ordered.
He turned back swiftly, giving a chase to the cowards.
