Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 203
Chapter 203: _We Won.
Lycan Davos turned back swiftly, giving a chase to the cowards.
I moved to follow him, to chase those ruthless bastards.
Kaene grabbed my wrist, holding me back, “Not a chance. You stay right here.” He gave me a stern look, giving no chance for me to argue further.
I gritted my teeth. Frustration kicking in, but I knew better than to push him when he was like this.
I looked around the clearing, breathing heavily. The bodies of the hunters lay scattered on the ground and their blood painted the snow red.
The air was thick with the smell of blood and sweat. Sir Elijah and the warriors tore through the remaining hunters mercilessly with ease and their bodies dropped like flies.
Suddenly, I heard a growl behind me. It was a sound I was too familiar with.
Kaene.
I turned sharply to see that a hunter lunged at me from behind and Kaene was engaged in a heated battle with hunters who must have been in hiding when we attacked.
I caught his sword with my claws. He stared at me with disgust, as if I were nothing more than a ragdoll, and I didn’t have the rights to catch his sword.
I twisted his wrist and forced his own sword sank into his own chest, his eyes widened in disbelief as he slumped down.
That’s right, rot in hell knowing that I killed you.
Another tried to grab me, but I was faster. I kicked him hard in his stomach, making him stagger backwards before Kaene’s claws ripped his throat out from behind.
His blood splattered across my face.
He had dealt with the hunters faster than I thought.
His eyes met mine and he walked over to me, cupping my face and caressing my cheek. “Are you okay?” He spoke softly.
His hand was bloodied, but I didn’t mind. Before I could reply, we heard a gunshot.
A silver bullet had hit Kaene’s arm. My eyes widened in horror as I slapped my hand over my mouth.
“Kaene!” I screamed. Panic surged through me, but he didn’t flinch.
His gaze filled with rage and revenge in an instant like he didn’t feel the pain from being shot. His eyes showed something far darker and sinister.
I was surprised to see that side of him, he was red with rage.
We heard the sound of a second gunshot. The bullet had missed his arm narrowly. We both spun our heads quick, in the direction of the shots.
It was a hunter firing from the distance, he was covered in blood and he had lost an arm.
“Die! You bastards!” He yelled from a distance, firing his rifle continuously.
“Get cover.” Kaene said to me in a hurry and he instantly turned to his wolf. His form towering over me, he used his mouth to nudge me forward.
He lunged forward, skillfully dodging each bullet as he ran to the hunter. And as Kaene neared the man, he ran out of bullets.
Kaene stopped running, he walked stealthily like a predator watching his prey. The man desperately tried to reload his rifle, but his lost arm wouldn’t let him.
I watched as Kaene pounced on him, tearing off each of his limbs till the man’s screams finally stopped.
He wasn’t just fighting, he was hunting.

I turned away, unable to watch the torture anymore. I turned my gaze to Sir Elijah, he was dealing with the last two hunters.
The last two hesitated, their faces filled with fear.
Sir Elijah smiled.
The look in his eyes sent a shiver down my spine.
He enjoyed this.
The look on his face reminded me of how Negan looked when he killed an hunter in the past.
One of the hunters swung at him, but Sir Elijah dodged with ease, stepping forward and driving his claws through the man’s chest.
Then, without hesitation, he ripped out his heart and threw it on the floor, stepping on the still beating heart.
His methods of killing were too cruel and brutal. I had turned away from watching Kaene because it was cruel watching him tear apart another man’s limbs, but Sir Elijah was worse.
My body trembled and a chill ran up my spine. Not from the cold, but from the sheer violence I had just witnessed.
Is this what war looked like? Men killed brutally with no remorse and bodies dropped like they weren’t human.
I knew they would had done the same without hesitation, I had seen it. They were the bad guys, but I still felt pity for them.
I had gone through a lot recently that would forever haunt me, I didn’t think I could ever forget.
The other hunter froze in a spot, he was too shocked and before he could react,
Sir Elijah slit his throat.
The man let out a muffled gasp before falling lifeless to the ground.
The war was over. The hunters were gone, not a single one remained.
Kaene walked toward the warriors, blood dripping from his body.
I exhaled sharply, exhaustion slowly creeping in, but there was no time to rest.
I ran to him, hugging him tight. We did it, we had won.
Relief washed over me.
He winced slightly, forcing me to let go of him, his arm still bled from the gunshot wound. I tore a piece of my shirt, wrapping it tightly against the wound.
I was glad that he didn’t sustain more injuries. We lost a few men, but our victory was undeniable.
Kaene’s voice rang through the clearing. “This is what happens to those who threaten our pack!”
And the warriors roared in triumph.
He turned to the warriors, “Burn the bodies, this will be a message to others. No one touches our pack and lives.”
Sir Elijah and his men immediately got to work, gathering the bodies and stacking them up in a pile.
I walked among the fallen hunters, my mind flooded with relief. We would finally have peace.
My mind wandered to Negan and my chest tightened at the thought.
Would he have fought beside us today? Would he have smirked after he killed someone?
I clenched my fists, fighting the guilt. I wished we had a different choice.
Kaene came to stand beside me, “We have a wedding to finish, my lady.” His voice teasing as he winked at me.
I nodded, smiling weakly though the heaviness in my heart still remained.
Oh, the wedding. I didn’t have the mental energy to go through a wedding right now.
Not after everything that had happened.
I could imagine the chaos going through the pack, the Alpha and Luna had abandoned their wedding without a word.
I hoped Sir Alan would have stabilized things before we got back.
The flames from the burning bodies rose into the sky, signalling our victory and one more thing.
Our loss.
