Chapter 208: _Something Is Coming.
Phoebe rose from the bed, adjusting her dress. ” I think we need to go now.” Her tone laced with urgency.
I furrowed my brows in confusion. “Go where? To see Elder Gita this late?” I mumbled.
She turned to me, looking down at me as I sat on the bed. She placed her hands on her hips, slightly tilting forward like a mother about to scold her child.
“No, let’s have a good night’s sleep and wait till doom reaches the pack.” She rolled her eyes, obviously mad at me.
I got on my feet immediately, her sarcasm was enough to make me understand that this was an urgent matter that didn’t need more delay.
As we walked past the hallway, we saw my mom. She wore a cheerful smile as she set her eyes on us too.
“Where are the lover birds going?” She asked, her smile still intact. Her smile was genuine, a real smile with no ulterior motives unlike when Elsa was around.
The peace that came with knowing that if I ever leave the pack, or perish some day, my mom would take good care of Phoebe was unmatched.
Yes, I thought about dying because in fact, anything could happen anytime. So, I might as well be prepared.
“We are going to see the fire works in the pack lands. They are still celebrating our victory against the hunters.” Phoebe replied her, a smile tugging at her lips too.
My mom nodded, “I thought you’d be indoors making little pups for me, the weather is quite good for that.” She winked.
My eyes fluttered at her words. My mind wandered to Phoebe’s perfect body, the way she squirmed under me, her eyes partly closed as she moaned my name in ecstasy.
My eyes landed on Phoebe’s perfectly cupped breasts and I couldn’t help but swallow hard.
Her face reddened, she was shy.
Argh! I’d missed her, but now was not the time. Not even close.
I shook my head as if doing that would take the dirty thoughts off my mind.
“Mom! Come on!” I rolled my eyes at her. She giggled like a teenage girl, hugging her coat closer to her body.
“You know, your father and I made you just…” She continued, but I cut her words short.
“Mom!” I said my tone rising higher.
Phoebe’s face was red from embarrassment.
“Okay, be back soon. You haven’t had dinner.” She chuckled as she walked past us.
If this was a good time, where we had no worries, we would have laughed our hearts out. I would have asked Phoebe how she felt about having little pups like my mom said.
The idea doesn’t sound so bad.
But, danger loomed. We couldn’t afford to slack.
It saddened my heart that only Phoebe and I bore this burden. I wish our families were aware.
They would have provided comfort especially to Phoebe, her family would surely be by her side in these times.
Phoebe and I walked in silence, the only sound coming from the crickets hiding in the bushes and trees nearby as we headed towards Elder Gita’s home.
She was back to her quiet self.
In contrast to the grand appearance of the Alpha mansion, her home was modest. I didn’t take a good look when the hunters came, I only knew she had a large compound where we kept everyone we rescued that day.
To be fair, I had never been to her house. If need be, she always came to see me.

I knocked on the door, but there was no response. Before I could knock a second time, the wooden door opened on its own.
Unsurprisingly, I was unfazed by the door opening by itself and neither was Phoebe.
Elder Gita sat inside, her expression calm as always, I wondered if she ever felt any other emotions.
“I was wondering when you’d come.” She said, gesturing for us to enter.
The room was relatively small, filled with shelves and jars of herbs and potions sat on them. There was a small wooden table in the center, surrounded by three chairs.
The walls were decorated in deep blue moon drawings and writings in what seems like ancient language.
She pointed at the two empty chairs by her side, gesturing for us to sit. “If you had waited a day more, I would have come to see you.” She said, her eyes darting between Phoebe and I.
What did she mean by that? My thoughts were interrupted as her voice rang out again.
“Tell me why you’re here.” She stared at me in a knowing gaze, like she already knew what I would say.
I cleared my throat as I began to speak. “I overheard something while walking through the pack lands, a rumor that every pack the hunters attack is destined to fall, whether they win or not.”
Phoebe shifted uncomfortably, changing her sitting posture as her eyes stayed glued to Elder Gita.
However, Elder Gita did not seem surprised. She merely nodded as if she had been waiting for this moment.
“Good.” She said calmly.
My eyes widened in shock, “Good?” I questioned.
She clasped her palms together, placing them on her thighs.”The fact that you heard it means you are paying attention, and that is important.”
“So, it’s true?” Phoebe asked impatiently.
I was too stunned to speak. What sort of strange coincidence is this?
“It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, it is about what is coming. I have sensed something coming do the pack, but I don’t know what it is yet.”
I stiffened. “Then how do we prepare for something we don’t even understand?” I asked feeling bewildered.
Elder Gita smiled. A smile that did little to comfort my raging heart. “That is why I will consult the Moon Goddess. Only her can reveal the full truth and tell us what to do.”
I frowned, dissatisfied with her actions. If she knew about this before, then why wait till we came before consulting the Moon Goddess.
“How long will it take?” Phoebe’s voice came off with a hint of displeasure. I knew she was thinking the same as I did.
Elder Gita shook her head. “I do not know, but I will inform you the moment I receive an answer.”
Her confidence and calmness should have been reassuring, but for some reason it grated on my nerves.
She continued, “One thing is sure, you will win whatever comes. That I’m certain of.”
