Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 216
Chapter 216: _About To Fight Vampires.
Elder Gita’s whisper rang louder than any bell.
The vampires were here. My heartbeat quickened at that realization and I only thought of one person. Phoebe.
I turned to Lycan Davos, who had already stiffened at the news. He stepped forward as he met my gaze. “Orders, Alpha?”
“Send a 10 men team to the borders as scouts, we need to know what we are dealing with. They know the rule, no one walks alone.” I ordered, leaving the hall.
I knew I had to be fast with the preparations for the war, but I had to get to Phoebe first. She was my priority.
I ran to the Alphas mansion as fast as I could, my mind racing with Elder Gita’s words once more. What if there was a slight possibility that Phoebe was who we needed to win this war?
No! I couldn’t let that happen, I was the Alpha. I was meant to protect my pack, all and sundry. I couldn’t just pass my duties to Phoebe because she’s an hybrid while I sit back. No way! I would protect her at all costs.
My steps quickened as I entered the mansion, reaching my suite. As I pushed the door open, my gaze immediately landed on the bed.
She was still unconscious, sleeping peacefully, unaware of the trouble knocking at our doors.
Her face was pale, her breathing steady. She looked fragile, too fragile for someone supposedly meant to win this war.
Her mom sat by her side, the same position she had been when I left the room, holding Phoebe’s hand. Her dad sat on the sofa his shoulders slouched and his eyes showed how worried he was.
“Listen to me, you are not allowed to leave this room. No matter what happens outside, do not let her leave.” My voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.
Her mom gasped, placing her hand over her mouth. “What’s happening?” She asked, worried.
I clenched my jaw. “There’s a war coming and she is what they want. There’s a slight chance that she wakes before all of this is over and knowing how stubborn she is, she would want to fight.”
Her mom’s eyes widened in shock. “They want Phoebe? Why?” She asked, her eyes glistening with tears.
I didn’t reply her, I just stood there unmoving. What was I supposed to say? That they wanted to sacrifice their child?
“Oh, my poor baby!” She held Phoebe’s hand tighter as she broke down in tears.
Phoebe’s dad moved forward, trying to comfort her while he looked at me. “We won’t let anything happen to her.”
I nodded. “Good. I’ll hold you to that.” I stared at Phoebe’s face one more time before leaving.
Lycan Davos met me at the door, bringing news. He had been serving me well, taking charge when I had been occupied. I think he would make a good Beta.
Brushing that thought aside, “How many?” I asked, my voice strangely calm despite the tension and pressure I felt.
He sighed wearily, “A lot, the scouts couldn’t give an estimate. They are still shaken by what they saw.”
I went red with rage, “They think they can just walk into my pack and take what’s mine? They think they can intimidate me with numbers?” I scoffed.
I didn’t hesitate. “Where are the pack’s warriors?”
“At the training ground, waiting for you.” He responded swiftly.
We walked together in silence to the training ground, I was boiling with rage. I would fight with my life, protect my home and get rid of those bastards.
The air was thick with tension as we got to the training grounds. The warriors had assembled in tight formations, ready as always to defend the pack. I caught sight of Sir Elijah and Sir Alan in front, ready for battle.
I walked to the front, looking at my pack’s warriors. Their eyes were locked to me, waiting for my command.
I took a deep breath.
“I know we’ve barely rested from the recent war we fought, but the enemy is at our doorsteps again.” I said, my voice slicing through the silence.

“But we have to keep fighting until everyone knows their place and realizes we are not to be dared. We do not cower, we do not bow. We fight, and we win!”
The warriors erupted into cheers, their voices ringing through the silent night.
They didn’t know what they were facing and I needed to tell them.
“We are about to fight vampires.” I said, afraid my words would break them.
The cheers stopped instantly. The warriors stiffened, their expressions shifted from predator to prey. I glanced at Lycan Davos, sir Elijah and Sir Alan who all stood together and I saw the shock and fear on all their faces too.
“Vampires?” Someone muttered.
“It”s been decades since the last war.”
“Why are vampires attacking us now?”
“Yes, why? That’s a different species we don’t mingle with.” Another said, supporting the previous question.
“Is another war brewing between us again?”
I could reply every other question except telling them why vampires were attacking us. It would expose Phoebe and I would rather die than speak of it.
“I know what you’re thinking, but the older warriors can remember that we won the war against the vampires decades ago.” My voice shutting them up as I stared at them.
“Vampires are fast, strong, and cunning, but they are not invincible. We have our brute strength, our regenerative abilities and our wolves. We won before and we can do it again.”
I scanned their eyes, searching for any clue that I had convinced them and then, I saw Elder Gita. She was standing at the far end and holding a staff.
The warriors stood straighter. Fear evident in their faces and there was no sign that I had convinced them.
I continued, it would be a lost cause if they were not willing to fight the vampires. “You are the best warriors in this land. The strongest and the fiercest and I believe we can do this. Tonight, we protect our home and we will win.”
I was met with silence once more and then a howl. They howled, pounding their fists against their chests with their fangs bared and eyes burning with fire.
The fear was gone. Now, there was only rage.
I felt someone grab my hand and my head instantly snapped to the direction. It was Elder Gita.
“I need to speak with you.” She muttered. Even though I was mad at her, I knew that her words were important too.
Kaene turned to Lycan Davos. “Split them into formations.” I ordered before leaving with her.
Elder Gita pulled me into a corner before she spoke. “You should wake her.”
I jerked away, my anger at her resurfacing. “She’s unconscious. How do you wake an unconscious person to fight a battle?” I spat out in fury.
“She’s our only chance.” She spoke as if her words made any sense, I didn’t think she heard what I had just said.
I clenched my jaw. “No!” I snapped back.
“I know you think she’s weak, but she’s not” she said narrowing her eyes at me.
My patience grew thin. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Her expression softened, as if she pitied me. “Phoebe is changing. She is a hybrid, an anomaly that neither werewolves nor vampires fully understand. Her power is awakening”
My breath hitched.
“What do you mean her power is awakening?”
“She’s not just a hybrid, she’s something more. I told you that she is an ancestral bloodline.”
It would be cowardly for me to leave my battle for Phoebe, it was mine not hers. I didn’t care if she had powers or not.
She stays indoors.
“No, she’s not fighting. I refuse to involve her in this.” I half yelled causing some warriors to glance towards us.
“Then you leave me no choice, I will join this battle. I can’t defy my Alpha, can I?” She smirked, twirling her staff.
I stared at her in surprise, speechless at her words. Then Lycan Davos’s voice stopped my thoughts. “Alpha, we are ready.”
I returned back to the warriors. ” Let’s win the battle!” I howled, my eyes glowing red.
The Alpha’s howl.
