Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 217
Chapter 217: _Kill Them.
The wind howled through the trees as we moved through the forest. The night was silent, even the insects and bugs refused to make a sound as if acknowledging the impending storm.
As we reached the pack’s borders, I caught sight of the familiar clearing where had we fought the hunters. But tonight, something worse stood before us, a dangerous species we must conquer.
The enemies were already there, waiting just beyond the clearing as if they knew we were coming. The one thing I was grateful for was the fact that they waited there and didn’t come into the pack itself.
As we moved closer, their scent hit my nose, making my blood boil faster.
Vampires.
Realization hit me like a train, I felt like I brought my warriors to die. My heart beat faster as I saw them, not from fearing them but for my people.
It was true that they had the advantage of numbers. Judging from the look of things, one wolf would have to fight five vampires at a time, coupled with the fact that vampires were faster than us. It would not be easy.
Fighting fire burned brighter and fiercer within me at the sight of the vampires, but what about my warriors? I wasn’t sure that they felt the same. I summoned my courage to look back at them.
As I scanned their eyes, I was met with their determined gazes. Not one person wavered, they all stood with their heads held high, ready to fight.
“May the goddess be with us.” Elder Gita whispered, afraid of alerting the enemy.
I nodded and my warriors gave me swift nods too, I was glad that I could depend on them.
Finally we stepped out of the bushes into the clearing.
I looked at the vampires in disdain. Their skin pale, almost whitish, smooth and it glowed under the moonlight. Their skin contradicted with the dark, elegant attire they wore and their eyes, it was like cold steel, emotionless and empty.
At the center of them, one man stood out. He was taller than the rest, paler and he was strangely beautiful for a man. His black hair was styled backwards, I subconsciously ran my hand through my messy hair as I saw him.
The rest of them stared at us condescendingly, pride evident in their eyes and they were all dressed like they were going to a beauty pageant rather than battle.
I balled my fists in anger, trembling at the sight of them. It was obvious that they thought little of us, thought we were easy to deal it, easy to get rid of. I would make sure they regret ever belittling me.
The vampire stepped forward, his movements graceful. His eyes met mine and he curled his lips into an amused smirk.
“I am Vince Carter, Commander of the Nightborne Legion and I believe you know why we are here.” His cold tone breaking through the silence.
I bared my fangs at him, refusing to be intimidated. “You’re wasting your time, she’s not going anywhere. Leave before it gets bloody.” I let out a low growl.
Vince’s smirk widened, taking another step forward. “Oh, dearest Alpha, you misunderstand.” His cold, empty eyes shone in an evil way.
Suddenly, the smile on his face disappeared. “I wasn’t asking.” He said in a fierce tone.
Then, as soon as he spoke, he raised his pale hand. “Kill them!” He commanded and the war began.
The moment he gave the command, the vampires ran forward, swift and silent like air itself. They were fast, real fast.
“Go!” I immediately yelled for my warriors to move. I transformed my hands into claws, ready to rip through everything in my path, I reserved turning to my wolf as the last resort.
This time, there were no team, no team leaders. I chose to make every one fight solely based on their instincts not someone else’s command.
Then, we clashed with the vampires, claws against speed. Vampires moved like smoke, their attacks were unpredictable, their limbs bending at unnatural angles, as if they had no bones but my warriors weren’t struggling.
They kept each other close, covering each other’s tracks. When one person defended, one person attacked with immense strength, brutally tearing through the vampires.
I stormed through the battle ground, slashing, tearing and ripping through every vampire in my path. Yes, they were fast, but no one came close to me, no one touched me because I was angry.
Elder Gita’s words rang through my head, that we needed Phoebe to win this war. I was meant to protect her, a bunch of vampires came to take her away and she had to be the one to fight them, to defend herself?
Hell no! I was not a figure head and I was not weak!

I was brutal and ruthless as I headed towards Vince, their leader. Soon, I found myself face to face with him.
“You look tired already, I expected more from the great Alpha. Why don’t you give up now?” Vince mocked, still unscathed, as he held threw a dead wolf right by my feet.
I refused to battle words with him. With my claws extended at my side, I lunged forward and we clashed, the air slightly rippling around us. He staggered backwards and I knew we were not equal in strength.
After our first clash, he became faster. He evaded my strikes with ease, spinning and side stepping without breaking a sweat. I was not just brute strength, I was strategic too.
I stopped attacking. I waited, watched and defended and when Vince grew cocky enough to move closer. I threw a punch, landing a heavy blow across his jaw and sending him to the ground.
I leapt forward to finish him, but then, a scream pierced the air, followed by several more.
I turned my head to see it. The vampires were pushing back harder now, stronger, wilder. Like something had awakened inside them, like hurting Vince gave them more power.
The once favorable tide had turned against us.
