Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 220
Chapter 220: _ Prologue
It’s been two weeks since the battle with the vampires. Everything had been going smoothly and pretty normal despite the loss we faced too.
It seemed like the pack could finally breathe.
I recovered quickly from the shock that followed what happened at the battle and it was all thanks to Kaene. I almost shrunk back into my shell, but Kaene didn’t let me.
He was everywhere I went, he was always by my side even when he had to be at important meetings that needed his urgent attention, he stayed with me.
When I had nightmares, I would wake up to him by my side, holding my hands. When I ran a fever, he attended to me and didn’t let anyone else be in charge of my care.
He constantly spoke words of comfort to me and reminded me that I was not a red-headed monster and that he loved me just the way I was, hybrid or not.
Yes! My hair was still red. I didn’t know why the color remained, but Kaene loved it and I’ve grown to love it too.
I smiled as I remembered Kaene’s kind words and gestures, the sweet kisses, the way he dotes on me at every chance he gets, and the gifts. He taught me to embrace my true self, my hybrid self.
Honestly, I didn’t know what I did in my previous life to get such a good man at my beck and call.
I had felt my powers a few times since that night, there were times when I had accidentally mind-controlled the maids. Those times still scared me, but I had Kaene by my side to encourage me. He and Elder Gita had helped me to get better.
However, today wasn’t about bloodshed or loss or even about me. It was about the honor of the pack.
The beta selection ceremony.
Kaene stood tall before the pack, elegant and powerful, wearing a black suit with the royal crest of the Alphas.
I stood beside him in silence, dressed in a purple slit dress as I stared at the man who had fought with fury and loyalty through every storm, to take his place before the pack.
Lycan Davos.
Kaene had asked me who I thought was the perfect fit for a Beta between Sir Alan and Lycan Davos. Sir Elijah was not in the picture because I disliked him and he was a defiant old man.
We finally decided on Lycan Davos because in all honesty, he had tried his best during the war and he had shown what good a Beta he would be.
I stared at him as he knelt before Kaene and me, his eyes filled with determination.
Elder Gita stepped forward, her white robe flowing as usual and her eyes closed as she raised her hand whispering a few chants before finally speaking.
“By the moon that governs us, by the stars that witness us, and by the earth that holds our dead and our living. Let this man be crowned, let loyalty bind him, wisdom guide him, and courage never leave him.” She said as she sprinkled some water on Lycan Davos before stepping back to her seat.
“You have fought for this pack, bled for this pack, stood between us and death. Today, we not only honor your strength, we honor your heart.” Kaene’s voice rang out loud and clear.
Kaene removed a piece of silver shaped like a wolf from a velvet cloth, it was an ancient symbol for Betas, and attached it to the left chest pocket of Lycan Davos’ suit.
“I hereby name you Beta of the Bluemoon Pack,” Kaene said, loud and proud, lifting him from his kneeling position.
Lycan Davos bowed his head. “I will protect the pack with everything I am and fight with my life.” He declared.
A cheer erupted from the crowd, and the warrior’s howls, claps, and laughter filled the air as the celebration began.
Keane grabbed my hand, walking me back to our seats as we watched the people laugh and eat, enjoying the celebration.
Later that evening, the party wasn’t over but I needed some rest. I was not made for those social gatherings especially when I had to talk to the elites in the pack.
Eventually, Kaene snuck us out seeing how tired I was. The room was dim, only the moonlight shone through the windows.
Outside, the pack celebrated, laughter echoing across the land, but inside, it was silent.
Just us.

I began to undress, preparing to head into the shower but I caught him watching quietly. My heart fluttered as it always did whenever I saw him this way, not just strong, but vulnerable too.
Vulnerable for me.
“You’re staring,” I murmured, hiding the fact that I was happy inside and I still held the power to make him feel that way.
“You’re worth staring at.” He whispered back, rising from the bed he sat on. He stepped closer and closer till we were inches apart.
“We were born for each other, Phoebe. Nothing can break that.” He said in a husky tone, his lips hovering above mine.
I knew that tone so well, he wanted me, and this time, I was ready too. I had finally let all the worries and pressure slip past me.
Our lips met in a soft kiss at first, sweet as always. But then, Kaene grabbed my waist tighter, his hands gently stroking my back as he moaned into my mouth.
My fingers found their way into his hair, pulling him closer as I moaned back in response. Unable to hold himself back, he lifted me effortlessly and carried me to the bed.
He laid me down gently, his eyes searching mine. “You ready?” His voice was deeper than usual, making me squirm further in his arms.
I nodded shyly and that was all he needed.
And in that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the bloodline, not the past, not even the war. Only the way he made me feel like I was seen, treasured, and worshiped.
“I’m never letting you go.” He said, moving closer once more.
“You’ll never have to,” I replied, spreading my legs slightly. While the party continued outside, we rode ourselves to the land of ecstasy.
And we fell asleep, not as a hybrid and an alpha, not as warriors, but as lovers, finally at peace.
THE END.
