Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 65
Chapter 65: _Babbling Idiot
Negan
~~
After killing Miranda and seeing the life drain from her eyes, the boring and most annoying part of the task came.
I had to get rid of her body.
Usually, when I killed people, the easiest way of getting rid of their bodies was feeding them to Rowland.
As a part werewolf part vampire hybrid, ever since he was born, he developed a mutation that required him to eat werewolf flesh once in a while.
This made him an even bigger outcast than me and caused his family to chase him out of their pack… Until I helped him get revenge and decimated the entire pack.
Ah, the good old days.
Just then, as I gazed down at Miranda’s body under the night, Rowland materialized beside me.
“Oh, la, la.” He grinned, rubbing his palms while licking his lips. “Thank you, master Negan. It’s been so long since you–”
“I don’t plan on feeding her body to you, Rowland.” I shook my head with a dismissive wave, wiping off some blood on my face.
The corner of my lips curled into a smirk as I looked up at the night sky. It was painted with stars but there was a storm coming in.
The perfect atmosphere for such a bloody night.
.
.
My little surprise for Kaene and Phoebe was delivered as planned.
Instead of getting rid of the body, I directed Rowland to place it on a tree in a secluded garden where I was certain the two love birds would sit.
As expected, Phoebe was terrified beyond her wits while Kaene tried acting like the ‘tough Alpha’, giving directions and brainstorming with members of the Alpha Council— which included me.
I watched the show while putting on a concerned front, even though I was giggling inside.
This murder will place the higher-ups of the pack on their toes, especially since Kaene didn’t want the news spreading to the rest of the pack.
And then when Elder Gita discovered that there was a spell cast on Miranda after examining her body… That was the icing on the cake.
“Are you suggesting a witch was involved in her death?” The Lycan asked with a grim expression.
I feigned concern, fixing my attention on the elder.
However, she shook her head in response to the Lycan’s question. “On the contrary, it seems the spell was placed on the girl before her death. Probably days ago.”
Meanwhile, as we discussed all this, Brittany, Miranda’s friend and a fellow maid, was sobbing in the corner, staring at her friend’s dead body.
Poor girl…
Suddenly, her eyes steeled with anger as she made a vow. “I promise you, I’ll find whoever did this to you and make them pay. Your death will not be in vain, Miranda.”
I blinked in surprise at first but soon enough, a mischievous smirk curled up the corner of my lips.
What a naive little she-wolf.
I wouldn’t even need magic to bring her down.

As I watched her intently, however, a cough snapped me back to reality.
“Negan, are you even listening?” Gamma Thane asked with arched eyebrows.
I turned my gaze to him and then looked at my fellow Alpha Council members.
Even Kaene had an awkward expression on his face but he also seemed a bit exhausted.
I opened my mouth, thinking of an excuse to give for my dissociation from the discussion when thunder rumbled in the clouds.
At that same moment, all eyes turned to the direction of approaching footsteps, only to see Elsa Thatcher walking toward us from the distance with a pout on her lips.
“Dearie me…” Kaene sighed with exasperation as he excused himself from our gathering and went to meet her.
I sighed a bit in relief, turning my gaze to the others.
“So, is there a way we can find this culprit?” I asked with a little too much enthusiasm.
The Gamma sighed while Delta Asher rolled his eyes.
“We don’t even know if the culprit is a werewolf, Beta. Weren’t you listening?” He queried with a suspicious look in his eyes.
How ironic.
Wasn’t he the same moron who was plotting against the Alpha? Who gave him the right to be suspicious of anyone?
“I was brainstorming the next steps forward, Delta Asher,” I responded with a calm tone. “Anyone here who does their job properly knows that this death will keep each of us busy one way or the other.”
Once again, the Delta scoffed. “She’s merely a maid, not someone of importance. Suggesting we don’t tell the populace about her death seems like overkill.”
Oh, is that so?
“Are you suggesting that the Alpha’s orders are ridiculous, Delta?” I asked with a calm tone, even though the smirk on my face was mocking.
Stirring up some drama has always been my specialty.
Meanwhile, the Delta’s face paled as he hurriedly defended himself. “O– Of course, not! I’m just saying that… We might want to reconsider if the death of a simple maid should bother us so much.”
Even though the smirk on my face was still present, I could already imagine myself ripping out the bastard’s throat.
Entitled idiots like him were why I hated the werewolf race. They were so obsessed with titles and positions of power within their ranks that it stripped them of all sense of empathy.
Heck, I was the one who killed the girl but yet I still felt a little pity for her, knowing she wouldn’t have had to die yet if she hadn’t tried meeting up with Elder Gita.
“Have some sympathy, Delta.” I chastised him in the calmest voice I could muster. “She might be just a simple maid to you, but she was someone’s daughter. Someone’s friend. Probably someone’s mate…”
The Delta’s eyes twitched with annoyance but he didn’t dare speak again, especially since everyone now had their attention on him.
Even Elder Gita stared at him with disappointment in her eyes, even though she tried hiding it.
Anyway, I continued. “The Alpha doesn’t want this reaching the public because apart from retaining the trust the pack has in us, publicizing the deaths of people like they’re some estimate is insensitive as a leader. I hope you understand that, Delta.”
His silence added to the delight I felt.
Not only had I successfully kept all of them on their toes, but I also managed to make the traitorous Delta look like a babbling idiot.
I deserved a medal.
