Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 66
Chapter 66: _Drama Magnet
Just when it felt like the Delta was going to drown in the judgemental gazes of everyone present, Kaene arrived with a sigh.
“I’ll have to leave for now, you guys. Something came up at the mansion that requires my attention.” He stated.
I stretched my head to check if Elsa was still behind him.
She was lingering a far distance away, stretching her head and trying to get a good look at what was going on.
Hopefully, she doesn’t go gossiping about it to the next ear that cares to listen.
But then again… That could come to my advantage.
“Is the Luna okay?” I asked just then, feigning concern.
The Delta harrumphed mockingly just then but didn’t dare voice out his thoughts.
Meanwhile, Kaene nodded. “Oh, trust me, Negan. The Luna is tougher than she looks. She’ll get over this…”
He trailed off just then, his gaze turning to Brittany who stood at the side with a dejected look in her eyes.
She hugged herself, sniffling and looking distant.
It seemed Miranda was a really close friend of hers. She had probably been like a sister to her.
Seeing the state of the girl, Kaene coughed awkwardly and walked to her.
“I promise you, we’ll bring whoever did this to justice, okay?” He assured her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
She nodded, even though her body still shook with sobs.
The Alpha’s ‘kindness’ didn’t end there as he added. “I’ll make you the new personal maid of the Luna. Your salary will be increased, of course, and you’ll no longer have to do other grueling tasks.”
Brittany raised her head just then, blinking with surprise In her eyes.
She eventually bowed her head, stuttering as she showed her gratitude. “Thank you so much, Alpha. I promise I–”
“I’m not finished.” Kaene raised his finger, hushing her.
I could see the confusion on the poor girl’s face, but she didn’t voice out her concerns, giving Kaene space to talk.
“You have to swear that nothing you witnessed tonight should reach the ears of anyone out there under no circumstances. Am I making myself clear, dear?” He asked with a deceptively calm tone.
My fists clenched when the girl nodded her head, fear hidden behind her eyes.
As expected, not even my so-called ‘best friend’ was any different from the rest of the werewolf higher-ups.
For some reason, I had high hopes for him.
I’d secretly hoped that he’d give me reasons to believe that he was different. Reasons to believe that he would be passionate about changing the messed up customs of his pack and the rest of the werewolf race.
But that was naive of me.
Anyway, after patting the girl lightly on her cheek, Kaene dismissed her before turning her gaze to us.
“We have a lot of work to do regarding this maid’s death.” He announced, his hands folded behind his back. He then fixed his gaze on the Gamma. “Gamma Thane, it seems you’ll be having a lot of work on your plate. You and the pack soldiers should investigate the scene and see if you can find any clues.”
The Gamma nodded his understanding while I felt like sniggering.
They might as well forget about the investigations since I’d made sure to get rid of any evidence that might trace it to me.

Eventually, Kaene dismissed all of us and followed Elsa back to the Alpha mansion.
But being the drama magnet that I was, a grin curled my lips as I watched them leave the garden.
When everyone had left, Rowland suddenly materialized beside me.
“Are you going to follow them?” He asked with a teasing voice.
I glanced at him, shrugging. “He tried hiding it, but it seems there’s some kind of drama occurring at the Alpha mansion. I’m so eager to see what it might be.” I mused.
Rowland glanced around, probably checking if anyone was listening before he spoke. “That Delta is so annoying. Can I kill him? Pretty please?” He teased, giving me the equivalent of puppy eyes.
We both chuckled at his expense but then I spoke with seriousness when we were done. “The Delta and his stupid plan to get rid of the Alpha will be really helpful to us, Rowland. We just have to be a little more patient.”
Rowland sighed but then nodded his understanding. In the end, when all this was over, he’d have as many werewolves as he wanted to eat and play with.
Anyway, I stretched my fingers about to leave when I remembered something. “Catherine… Any update on her? I caught a glimpse of her attitude toward Phoebe today, but she still seems hesitant in doing what she deems necessary.”
I didn’t want to rush the process but I was low-key getting impatient.
What was the use of Catherine having a clip of Phoebe and I kissing if she didn’t want to use it to her advantage already?
Was she perhaps watching it on repeat and pleasuring herself with it?
Just then, Rowland shook his head. “If she wished to show Kaene that clip soon, she’s not showing any signs. She hasn’t even called for my ‘help’ to do anything against you or Phoebe again.”
How annoying.
“We’ll just leave her be.” I shrugged. “If my guesses are right, whatever drama Phoebe got herself into should be enough to tick off the former Luna and hopefully make her finally snap. If not, I might be forced to show Kaene the damn video myself.”
Rowland chuckled softly, but I didn’t have anything else to say as I walked stealthily toward the Alpha mansion.
When I got there, I slipped past the guards with help from my magic and ended up scaling the walls as the rain began falling heavily, lightning occasionally flashing in the sky.
When I finally got to Phoebe’s suite window, I peeped inside but found no one there.
“Oh, come on. The tension I felt from those two morons should be enough to make them do–”
My words to myself were cut short when Kaene burst into the room, leading Phoebe in and dropping her on the bed.
Oh, la, la… This was going to be fun.
