Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 73
Chapter 73: _Screw Them All!
I blinked as I watched the video being played on the projection screen.
It was none other than my darling Phoebe and best friend Beta Negan, both sitting on a bench in a garden at night time.
“You’re my best friend’s mate, Phoebe.” Negan seemed disturbed in the video as Phoebe tried to kiss him. “And the Moon’s Chosen, not to mention the pack’s Luna. This… This would be blasphemy.”
This couldn’t be happening. There had to be some kind of mistake somewhere.
Meanwhile, my mother was seemingly alarmed by the video playing on the projection screen behind her and started shouting out.
“Where’s the person in charge of the projection slides?” She hollered from the stage. “Turn this off! Turn it off!”
She struggled with an iPad in her hands but no matter how many times she clicked on it, the video on the projection screen didn’t stop playing.
And it seemed there was more to come as Negan seemed to finally give in and accepted Phoebe’s kiss.
My heart dropped just then, but the rage that came with it was all-consuming.
I turned my gaze to Phoebe who stared back at me with shock as if it was her twin doing such an atrocious act on screen and not her.
“K– Kaene, I can explain. P– Please…” She placed her hands in front of her masked face as if she were expecting me to slap her.
But I didn’t do that.
The film still kept on playing but the further it went, the more disgusted the people around were.
“Dearie me, this is blasphemy!” A woman among the elites screamed.
“I knew it! I knew a mere maid, being the moon chosen, would bring nothing but doom to our pack.” A male voice bellowed.
“The misfortune that befell us at the Luna Ball. Do you think that was a punishment from the Moon goddess for the Luna’s crimes?”
Discussions and murmurings like these erupted around the room and at one point, it seemed almost everyone had lost interest in watching the video further.
Who could blame them? The little they had seen was more than enough to paint a bad image of the Luna in their heads.
But as for me… I didn’t stop watching for even a second.
“Kaene, let’s get out of here.” Phoebe pleaded from where she sat beside me.
She tried getting up but before she could, I grabbed her by the wrist, yanking her back to her seat, causing her to gasp in shock.
My gaze was cold and so was my voice. “Why the rush? It seems the show isn’t finished yet.”
She stared at me with quivering eyes, but I didn’t bat an eyelash when I saw that. She could cry all the fake tears she wanted tonight.
“So, the rumors are true?” A voice that I recognized as Elsa’s spoke up from the crowd behind me. “This is terrible. How could the Beta and Luna do this? Phoebe must’ve been under some kind of spell.”
Her words were fuel to the simmering rage I felt as I finally stood up.
It seemed the video ended with Phoebe leading the Beta out of the gardens and toward his private residence within the estate.
After that, the screen went black and at the same moment, the light came back to the room.
My mother stood there on the stage, speechless and lost on what to do.
This was her party, after all, and it seemed to have been hijacked by elements wanting to make a mockery of me and my name as Alpha.
Just then, my gaze fell on Negan, who was sitting on my left-hand side.

He glanced at me, his expression filled with complicated emotions.
Oh, I was about to make his face all levels of complicated.
“How dare you?!” I queried, trying to make sense of the whole thing. “How dare you sleep with my mate?! It was bad enough that she kissed you and you kissed her back. But then you willingly went ahead to fuck her behind my back?”
The room went into an uproar because of my vulgarity but screw them. Screw all of them!
Meanwhile, Negan tried defending himself. “Kaene, I swear I wouldn’t do something to hurt you intentionally. We… We were both drunk that night. We didn’t–”
“Drunk?” I repeated, chuckling with disdain. “Don’t make me laugh. That doesn’t help your cause at all. Being drunk doesn’t mean you get possessed enough to sleep with your best friend’s wife…”
I trailed off, glaring at him while grounding my jaw. After that, I looked away and muttered. “… Ex-best friend. Whatever friendship you and I shared is null and void.”
Gasps filled the room at my words as I turned my gaze back to Phoebe.
She looked like she’d seen a ghost… Which was probably her infidelity staring her right in the face.
Suddenly, before I could speak, my mother, whose microphone had started working again, spoke up. “Kaene, don’t make any hasty decisions. M– Maybe the video was AI-generated. You know how crazy technology has gotten these days.”
What the heck?
I couldn’t help myself as I gawked at my mother. “Really, mother? Why does it seem like all of a sudden you and Elsa, who’ve always hated my mate, are now trying to defend her?”
She blinked back in surprise but didn’t say anything else, looking away from me.
Fixing my gaze back on my traitorous wife, I remarked coldly. “I’m glad I didn’t get married to you the human way. Divorce proceedings would’ve been a headache. But as for traditionally, I reject you, Phoebe Skywalker, once again, as my mate. You can keep being the moon’s Chosen for all I care, but you and I… We’re done!”
A tear dropped down her eyes but I didn’t care about that.
I was about to walk away when a hand suddenly grabbed mine, forcing me to turn my gaze back and spot Negan holding on to it.
The nerves!
“Kaene, please. Let’s not make any hasty decisions.” He tried reasoning with me. “Phoebe and I, we–”
“Can both fuck yourselves in hell!” I interrupted before landing a punch on the fool’s face.
