Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 81
Chapter 81: _Don’t Judge Her
Negan
~~
The night went just as I imagined it.
I knew Catherine was up to no good. She might have everyone else deceived with her ‘concerned mother’ facade, but I knew her game all too well and saw right through it.
The auction party had been going smoothly until the electricity flickered and the footage of me and Phoebe from the garden was shown on the projection screen.
Catherine did an Oscar-worthy performance, pretending like she was just as shocked as the rest of the audience when the footage was shown, even though she’d probably watched it on repeat.
Anyway, the party ended up being disbanded after Kaene publicly rejected Phoebe as his mate AGAIN in the presence of all the elites.
Oh, and the part where he punched me… That left a scratch, I’m not gonna lie.
I walked out of the Alpha mansion, reminiscing on all these things while using the back of my hand to clean off some blood dripping out of my nose.
However, even though all the elites had left at this point, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when I saw Gamma Thane discussing with the Lycan up ahead.
“If our enemies hear of this, we’ll be at a disadvantage.” The Gamma blurted.
The Lycan nodded, whispering into the night. “Obviously. A pack where the Beta could betray the Alpha in such a way is destined for doom. We’ll have a mark on our heads at this rate.”
“All thanks to Negan.” The Gamma harrumphed with contempt. “I expected better from him.”
The Lycan chuckled just then, placing his hand on Gamma Thane’s shoulder. “Didn’t you watch the footage? The Luna made the first move on the Beta. Honestly, I don’t blame him. If I were in his shoes, I would–”
“Lycan Davos!” The Gamma gasped, seemingly surprised at what his companion was insinuating. “Don’t be ridiculous. She’s the Moon’s Chosen and the Alpha’s mate!”
I couldn’t see their facial expressions since I was walking behind them, but I could tell that the Lycan was probably rolling his eyes right now.
“She’s a slut who can’t control herself. She’ll probably throw herself at old man Thatcher if she had her way.” The Lycan sniggered. “I wonder why the moon goddess chose her everyday. She’s from a poor background and will keep on using what’s between her legs to climb to the top.”
My fists clenched as soon as I heard that.
Anyone could say what they wanted about Phoebe, but not this hypocrite.
I’d had my eyes on him for a while now and knew how corrupt he was in the shadows.
As the pack’s Lycan, he was supposed to be at the forefront of our military might and the champion of the pack.
But what did this man do during the last Hunter attack? He hid himself!
Not able to bear listening to the rantings of the two morons, I faked a cough, prompting them to swerve their heads backward.
Their shoulders relaxed when they saw it was me, but the judgemental looks lingering in their eyes were hard to miss.
“Gentlemen, it’s getting pretty late. Shouldn’t you be on your way home instead of loitering about this estate?” I queried with a smile plastered on my face.
But the truth was, merely staring at these men alone irked me to no end.
Hearing them talk about Phoebe like they were suddenly saints irked me to no end. Their existence irked me to no end.
It was a struggle keeping my wolf at bay, but he was angry and ready to jump out. But I hadn’t needed him in a while when I could easily get what I wanted through other means…
“Ah, Beta Negan, how are you holding up?” The Gamma was the first to speak up, feigning concern. “What is happening in our pack right now is a shame. From the poisoning at the Luna Ball to the murder of that poor maid and now, someone is trying to frame you.”
I folded my arms behind my back, tilting my head as I listened to his chattering.

Subconsciously, I glanced at the Lycan and noticed the disgusted look on his face, his arms folded in front of his chest as he stared at me.
But when I looked into his eyes, his expression changed and he seemed a bit frightened.
“Anything the matter, Lycan Davos?” I asked when I noticed him trying to avoid my gaze.
He froze, turning his gaze to me with a fake smile on his face. “I’m merely still in shock, Beta Negan. I hope you understand how big of a deal this whole thing is?” He remarked.
A smirk curled my lips as I nodded slowly. “Why, yes. How tragic. The fate of the pack is hanging in the balance; neighboring packs will mock us… Blah, blah, blah.”
The two men seemed flabbergasted as I briefly stopped with my nice Beta facade.
Wearing that mask all the time was exhausting anyway, and right now seemed like the perfect time to pour out my frustration on them.
With sarcasm… Of course. Anymore and heads might roll tonight.
“With all due respect, this isn’t any joking matter, Beta.” The Lycan uttered with a slightly colder voice.
Oh?
“Do I look like I’m joking, Lycan?” I shot back, my expression devoid of emotions. “This matter affects me directly. But you don’t see me calling our Luna a slut now, do you?”
The Lycan’s face became grim as he glanced at the Gamma.
“Yeah, I heard everything you said.” I shrugged. “And I also recall the Alpha saying he doesn’t want word of this going out under any circumstances.”
The Lycan gritted his teeth, taking a step forward. “Are you threatening me, Beta?” He growled.
I spotted his claws coming out and his wolf howled from inside him as he glared at me.
The audacity was staggering with this one…
I’m the Beta, second in command after the Alpha. Not to mention a superior part werewolf, part witch.
Who was he to challenge me?
