Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 86
Chapter 86: _It’s Common Knowledge
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
The person standing before me just had to be Elsa.
Ugh, as if this already dreadful night couldn’t get any worse.
My eyes dimmed when I scrutinized what she wore.
She was out of her gown from the party and now wore a red robe and had her hair flowing in a way that would make any man weak in the knees.
But I wasn’t ‘any man’.
“I wouldn’t reprimand you for entering my room uninvited but I must inform you that I don’t need any company,” I remarked, waltzing into the suite and then standing with the door wide open.
Elsa tilted her head, seeming confused at first until I gestured outside.
“Leave, Elsa.”
She gawked at me at first as if it was so mind-boggling that I could reject her abruptly.
But as drunk as I was, I knew foul play when I saw one and wouldn’t fall for it.
Anyway, after staring at me for a while, Elsa cleared her throat awkwardly and walked toward me, each step seeming like a decisive move to seduce me.
But I looked away, careful not to stare at her for too long.
“Are you seriously going to reject all THIS, Kaene?” She muttered softly when she’d gotten in front of me, forcing me to fix my gaze on her.
She slowly opened her robe, revealing her curvy body all under nothing more than loose lingerie.
I closed my eyes again, groaning with frustration. “Bloody hell, Elsa! Have you lost your mind?”
I brought my gaze back to her, enraged.
She seemed stunned at my outburst, her mouth quivering with confusion as she placed her hands on my shoulders.
“Don’t… Don’t you find me attractive–”
But before she could finish with her nonsense, I grabbed her hand and yanked her out of the suite, storming out with her.
“Kaene, you’re hurting me.” She whispered with a pleading voice but I ignored her, walking through the hallways and heading straight to my mother’s quarters.
Once I got there, I knocked on the door and then forced myself in when I picked up the sound of her snoring.
My mother sat up from the bed when I turned on the lights and threw Elsa into the room.
“Kaene, what’s the meaning of this insanity?” My mother asked sternly, while Elsa tried cuddling close to her, sniffling.
I ignored the girl’s theatrics and fixed my gaze on my mother. “For the last time, Mother, I do not need you meddling in my affairs. And I do not appreciate you sending Elsa to seduce me during a moment of weakness.” I snapped.
My mother blinked with confusion, her brows furrowing. “Now I see you must’ve lost your mind. For the moon’s sake, Elsa is a very attractive girl and the daughter of one of the richest families in the country. What else could you possibly want from a Luna?”
I glared at the both of them, my teeth grinding as I contemplated what to do.
Meanwhile, Elsa sobbed. “It’s no use, mama Catherine. Phoebe has bewitched him completely, and now he’s unable to let her go even after being betrayed.”
My fists clenched at her words as I walked toward her, causing her to cling closer to my mother in fear.
“Listen here, you–” I pointed my finger at her, my wolf already acting in sync with my anger when my mother chimed in.

“That’s enough from you, Kaene!” She blurted. “I was asleep before you barged in. Can you please leave? It’s midnight, and I’d like to sleep peacefully.”
Sleep peacefully? If only she knew what a luxury that was right now.
I stared at my mother who was unmoved, staring directly at me while holding Elsa close.
Eventually, I sighed, turning away from them and walking out of the room, shutting the door behind me.
I guess I won’t be having a sound sleep tonight after all.
.
.
The next morning, my eyes shut open while I was lying down on my bed.
I had a pounding headache and my mouth tasted like it was decaying.
Glancing at the clock, I sighed. It was already several minutes past seven.
I was barely able to catch an hour of sleep.
Groggily, I sat up on the bed, rubbing my forehead.
Just then, I heard a knock on my door, causing me to roll my eyes.
“For the moon’s sake, who is it?!” I yelled, gritting my teeth when the headache only got worse.
The door swung open, and my assistant, Lyra, walked in wearing a purple long-sleeve shirt and a black skirt.
She had a worried expression on her face as she stepped into the suite. “Good morning, Alpha. You have some meetings with the board as well as–”
I raised my hand, shaking my head. “Cancel them all, Lyra. I can’t go to work in this state.”
I brushed my hand through my hair before lying down back on the bed.
But I could still feel Lyra standing in front of the bed and sighed. “What is it now, Lyra?” I queried.
She seemed hesitant, her footsteps echoing around the room as she stepped forward. “With all due respect, sir. I’ve just never seen you in this state. I’m worried.”
Aww, how touching.
My eyes scrunched as I sat up, looking at her again. “Well, I’m fine, Lyra. What’s happening to me is something you wouldn’t be able to understand.”
She nodded her head but still spoke up after a few seconds. “Is… Is it about the Luna’s affair with Beta Negan, sir?”
My eyes dimmed as I fixed my gaze on her, stepping out of the bed slowly. “How do you know about that?”
My tone and my gaze were both cold, causing Lyra to step back with trepidation.
“F– Forgive me if that was offensive, sir. It’s just… Every staff member in the mansion is talking about it and I assumed it was common knowledge.” She explained.
But she only managed to aggravate me further as I got up.
Who dared leak out news of the affair?!
