Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 93
Chapter 93: _Here Goes Nothing
“Who made you cry?”
I blinked repeatedly, sighing with relief when I realized who it was.
“Negan…” I whispered with a smile, taking a step forward. “Negan, we can’t keep meeting like this. I don’t think we can even remain ‘friends’ at this point.”
Beta Negan wore a long black coat with a white long-sleeve shirt underneath.
He waltzed calmly toward me, his hazel eyes glinting with indiscernible emotions as he stretched out his hand to touch my face.
I flinched, taking a step back before his hand could touch me. “Negan, stop it.” My voice became a warning.
He blinked awkwardly, withdrawing his hand to himself. “I’m sorry. It’s just you have… A little something here.” He gestured at his eyes to explain himself.
My eyebrows creased into a frown until I realized what he was talking about.
I used the back of my hand to clean off the tears trailing down my eyes, sniffling while trying to look away from the Beta.
But that didn’t last long as he held my hand and forced me to bring it down, before using his other hand to clean off the tears from my eyes.
My lips curled up into a wry smile. “Thank you,” I muttered, even though I was certain I had more tears in me.
I sighed when Beta Negan finally gave me space, allowing me to walk in.
“You didn’t answer my question on who made you cry.” He pressed on, forcing me to glance back at him.
I smiled bitterly, fiddling with my fingers. “There’s nothing you can do about it, Negan. It’s fine, I know I’m the one at fault here.” I said.
However, I soon heard his approaching footsteps, causing me to tense up as I anticipated his touch.
Gosh, this can’t be happening. Why does he always have this effect on me?
Negan placed his hand on my shoulder, forcing me to turn around and look him in the eyes.
“It’s not the end of the world, Phoebe.” His voice was soothing and reassuring, calming me a bit. “Yes, we both screwed up but that doesn’t mean we cannot get some redemption.”
I sighed, shaking my head. “This is pointless. I can’t bear any more of the insults I get from the staff and everyone else. I need to leave the pack house.”
I stepped away from him, walking up to one of the windows and staring at the moon.
One might say it was the cause of this mess. If only the moon goddess hadn’t picked me as the Moon’s Chosen, I wouldn’t have to go through all this.
I wouldn’t have had to go through Kaene’s rejection that night nor the endless bullying from Elsa and his mother.
I wouldn’t have had to go through the humiliation that I was facing right now.
“I guess you want to head back to your parents,” Negan remarked knowingly behind me, taking a few steps forward. “I can take you there if you want.”
My eyes widened as I turned my gaze to him.
“Really?” I asked, my heart filled with gratitude. “Oh, thank you, Negan! Can we make it tonight? I’ll only need to take a few things along with me.”
I didn’t own much, anyway.
I’d just have to grab my phone and some money I would use to take care of my parents while there. I’ve neglected them too much since I got here.
“Of course.” Negan nodded, a smile curling up his lips. “We’ll just have to be sneaky about it.”
Sneaky?

Oh, I could definitely do ‘sneaky’.

I got dressed in a black jacket and blue jean trousers, sneaking out of my suite through the window with Negan.
Former Luna Catherine had told me she didn’t care if I went back to my parent’s place, but Kaene, on the other hand.
He didn’t seem like he was willing to let me leave anytime soon.
Anyway, Beta Negan helped me climb down my window and then sneakily led me out of the compound without any of the guards noticing.
When we got outside, he held my hand and led me to his private residence.
My heart pounded heavily against my chest when I remembered what had happened at his private residence all those nights ago.
“It’s never going to happen again, just relax,” I whispered to myself, drawing in a deep breath.
When we finally got in front of the Beta’s private residence within the estate, he led us to one of his cars where his assistant, Rowland, was waiting with the usual stoic expression on his face.
However, he managed to smile at me briefly before he fixed his gaze on his master.
“I’ll be leaving for a day or two. Hold the fort while I’m gone, would ya?” Beta Negan patted the man on the shoulder before he hopped into the car.
I stared warily at the assistant with dimmed eyes before turning around and sitting in the front passenger seat.
“Where are you going for a day or two?” I couldn’t help but ask when he started the car.
He glanced at me, a smirk on his face. “Don’t worry your pretty little head about that. It’s just business-related stuff.” He said dismissively.
I felt curious to ask more but decided against it as we drove out of his compound.
We met a tight security made up of werewolves at the entrance to the estate but they let us pass when they saw that we were the Beta and Luna.
I noticed some of them whispering to themselves while staring at us, but closed my eyes, trying my best to ignore them as we left the estate.
After all these weeks, I was finally leaving that hell hole of politics and drama.
It felt… Rejuvenating.
Anyway, by following my directions, Negan was able to navigate through the city and drop me in front of my parents’ house, which was a small cottage in a more quiet part of that city.
I stared at the place which had become so foreign thanks to my time in the pack house.
“Good luck.” Beta Negan winked at me when I stepped out of the car before driving off, leaving me all alone in the quiet street.
I gulped, walking straight to the porch and clicking on the doorbell.
Here goes nothing.
