Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 94
Chapter 94: _Foul Play
I waited anxiously for someone to answer the door.
Finally, the old thing creaked open and my brother, Caleb, peeked his head out.
When his eyes landed on me, his face lit up with a smile as he opened the door fully.
“By the moon, Phoebe!” He screeched, pulling me into a hug. “It’s been way too long, big sis. Why couldn’t you visit us, huh?”
My heart melted just then as I hugged him back, caressing his head tenderly. “Gosh, Caleb, it’s been hell back in that mansion. I’ve been so busy that I couldn’t make time to visit and–”
“You don’t have to explain anything to me.” He pulled out of the hug, shoving me playfully on my shoulder.
But then he placed his hand beside his mouth, whispering. “I can’t say the same thing about Mom and Dad though.”
Crap… Exactly what I was afraid of.
I sighed, accepting my fate and hoping they wouldn’t ask me any questions about the news flying around that I cheated on the Alpha.
They’d be so disappointed, I knew that.
Anyway, I walked into the dimly lit house, the smell of drugs and medications of different sorts filling the air.
It was a familiar smell, one that had prevailed in this house since we moved in.
My family and I had to move to this part of the city after the last Hunter attack which claimed the lives of several supernatural beings.
We were already struggling but the attack left us wretched, thanks to my father’s injuries from the attack and my mother’s illness.
That was why the house smelled like drugs.
“Has Dad gotten any better?” I asked, glancing at Caleb.
He glanced back at me before pointing at one of the sofas in the living room. “Why don’t you ask him yourself?”
I turned my gaze to the living room and saw him, my father, sitting there with his back facing me.
He turned his gaze to me, his slightly wrinkled face lighting up with a warm smile. “Phoebe, you’re finally back.” He blurted.
I smiled in return, walking up to him. “Dad, I’ve missed you so much. How are you feeling now?”
Though I’ve been calling them back in the Alpha mansion and even sent them cash I got from Kaene once in a while, it was all never enough.
I’ve never been away from my family for so long.
My father had a wry smile on his face as he stood up, spreading out his arms. “I’m getting better, goddess be praised. My wolf was finally able to recuperate and heal most of my wounds.”
My smile widened as I embraced him. “That’s great news, Dad! I’m so glad you’re getting better.”
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching and stepped away from my father.
“Phoebe, is that you?” My mother called out, her voice sounding weak.
Her body shook as she walked closer to us, her face lighting up with a smile at first.
However, just before I could run up to her and hug her, she remarked. “What happened? One minute, you were out of the house and your brother told us you’re the Moon’s Chosen. Next, I’m hearing news of you cheating on your mate, the Alpha.”
Oh, no.
I’m not going to hear the end of this one.

I looked away from my mother in shame, lowering my head before I spoke. “I think you guys will have to sit down for this.”

“I’ll need to see this former Luna and give her a piece of my mind!” My father slammed his hand on the sofa he was sitting on when I’d finished narrating everything that happened since I was made the Luna.
I didn’t leave out any detail, telling them about the affair with Negan, the poisoning incident at the Luna Ball, my maid’s murder, and, of course, all the drama from Elsa and Catherine.
It was comedic watching the expressions on their faces when I made a new revelation, but I was too emotionally drained to laugh right now.
“Honey, relax.” My mother held back my father before he made any rash decisions. “There’s nothing we can do, you know how this pack has always been when it comes to class and money.”
My father grunted, shaking his head repeatedly. “The nobility is everything wrong with this pack. Even after the persistent Hunter attacks, they haven’t changed.”
Meanwhile, my brother who sat beside me placed a hand on my shoulder. “Hey, seriously though, if you want us to go have a little chat with that old hag, I’ll gladly tag along.” He said with a mischievous smirk.
I rolled my eyes, shoving his hand away. “Do you want to get thrown into the dungeons again?”
Just then, my mother spoke up. “So, you had this affair with the Beta on the same night of the moon Chosen ceremony after taking a few drinks?”
Gosh, I knew she was going to judge me.
Between my mom and Dad, she’s always been the strictest.
“Yes, mom. That’s what happened.” I nodded, fiddling nervously with my fingers like a little girl in trouble. “I know I messed up and that I’ve brought shame to you and Dad. I’m truly sorry and wish more than anything that I can take everything that happened that night back.”
My father, who was now sitting beside my mother, sighed, placing his hand on my mother’s and communicating silently with his eyes.
“Phoebe, you’ll never bring shame to us, okay?” My father tried to be comforting. “Whatever happened… We know you didn’t mean to hurt anyone. No one is above mistakes and it’s great that you’re acknowledging that.”
I nodded my head, grateful for hearing all that from him.
As for my mother, she had her arms folded in front of her chest, staring at me with dimmed eyes.
When the staring became too intense, my father scolded her. “Honey, this isn’t the time for your bad cop shenanigans. Our daughter needs us now more than ever.”
My mother shrugged. “I honestly think we can do both. But that’s not why I’m staring at her.”
I squinted my eyes, becoming curious to hear what she had to say.
When she saw all eyes on her, she adjusted her sitting position before she continued. “Doesn’t it seem odd to anyone else that Phoebe would go ahead to sleep with the Beta AFTER having a few drinks? Even if she was in heat, she had already found her mate by then.”
I glanced at Caleb who seemed as clueless as me.
“What are you trying to say, Stella?” My father asked the question running through all our heads.
My mother sighed, her eyes glinting with suspicion. “I smell foul play in this.”
