Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 95
Chapter 95: _Wish To Take It Back
Foul play?
“Mom, are you saying I’m lying?” I queried, hurt by the thought.
She shook her head but then coughed soon after, holding her chest and trying to catch her breath.
Yikes, I almost forgot she’s sick.
My father placed his hand behind her back, gently caressing her.
Sigh… If only I had a love like theirs. Love didn’t have to be so difficult and dramatic, like with Kaene.
“Sorry about that.” My mother muttered when she was finally able to calm down, using the back of her hand to wipe her mouth. “Anyway, I wasn’t trying to suggest that you’re lying. I’m saying that something doesn’t quite add up with you getting so intoxicated that you throw yourself at the Beta.”
I squinted my eyes, thinking deeply about her words.
Just then, my brother chimed in. “I mean, I wouldn’t blame Phoebe, to be honest. That Beta is one hot piece of candy.”
My brows snapped into a frown as I turned my gaze to him. “Seriously, Caleb? Don’t you have homework to do right now?”
He stuck out his tongue, but I knew he was merely messing around.
“Are you saying that our daughter was drugged?” My father queried with uncertainty, fixing his gaze on me.
Drugged? Drugged by who?
“Wait, if that’s what Mom is suggesting, then I know who the culprit is…” Caleb snapped his fingers as if he just made a groundbreaking discovery. “The old hag, Catherine!”
Huh?
My parents were just as confused as I was, glancing at themselves before turning their gaze back to Caleb.
However, he was unfazed as he continued. “You guys shouldn’t give me that look and scrutinize the whole thing for a sec. Catherine made it very clear from the beginning that she doesn’t like Phoebe because of her social class. She also made it clear that she wanted to get rid of her…”
And, now, he was pointing out well-known facts.
“I don’t see where you’re going with this, son.” My father still seemed lost, scratching the back of his head. “We all know how the nobles are about social class. It’s quite understandable that the former Luna would have preferred if Phoebe was of a high social standing or at least, someone who’s contributed greatly to the pack.”
Ouch.
Wasn’t he the one threatening to give Catherine a ‘piece of his mind’ a few minutes ago?
“Dad, come on. You know how these nobles are!” Caleb groaned, rolling his eyes. “This same woman we’re talking about locked me up in the dungeons for trying to defend Phoebe. Drugging her doesn’t seem like much, to be honest.”
He actually made a good point.
As crazy as it sounded, I was starting to see things from Caleb’s perspective.
Especially when I remembered how Beta Negan had warned me about Catherine and to make sure I didn’t eat her food.
“But there’s nothing I can do now, is there?” I muttered dejectedly. “The deed has already been done and somehow, the whole pack and possibly every supernatural being in the city knows about it. My life is ruined and it’s all my fault.”
I buried my face in my hands, groaning as I thought back to Kaene.
Has he found out that I was missing already? Would he even try searching for me?
Ugh, why was I thinking about him right now?!
He should be having fun with Elsa and–

“Quit beating yourself up, sis!” Caleb patted me on my back just then, startling me a bit.
I turned my gaze to him, arching an eyebrow.
“We’ll be having over some guests tomorrow and guess what… They’ll be bringing snacks!” He grinned as if that was supposed to cheer me up.
The last thing I needed right now was people.
Dear moon goddess, help me.
.
.
The next day, things went quietly and smoothly.
Life was simple at my parents’ house, and I didn’t have to tiptoe around the place all day to avoid drama from some stuck-up nobles.
However, there was one thing I missed throughout the day, even as I helped out my parents with chores and cooking.
Kaene.
I stared out of the living room window and sighed as I remembered all the times we’d shared.
He’d promised that our union would be devoid of romance but he proved time and time again that he cared about me, in his own twisted way sometimes.
“Why did I have to be an idiot and sleep with the Beta?” I groaned to myself, rubbing my forehead.
It was already evening and a few people walked outside.
One thing I noticed about this neighborhood was that its inhabitants were made up of mostly werewolves.
All members of Blue Moon, of course.
I dreaded the idea of meeting any of them and getting called out for my scandal with Negan.
And to think we were expecting some of them for dinner any time soon.
Suddenly, I noticed a car making a stop in front of the house, causing me to tense up as I dimmed my eyes.
However, the car doors opened, and a family of three made up of a man and a woman who looked my parent’s age and a boy who looked a little younger than me; causing me to relax a bit.
Speaking of the devil…
“Mom, Dad, your friends are here!” I yelled out, getting up and heading to the door.
They rang the doorbell and I opened it, plastering a smile on my face when I saw them.
“Oh…” The mother of the little family, who was a petite black-skinned woman, had a surprised look on her face when she saw me. “Uh… Luna Phoebe. I… I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Shit, how did they even know my face?
They must have seen a picture of me from the Luna Ball or probably saw me at the Moon Chosen ceremony.
“Good evening, ma’am. I only came to visit my parents. Please, come in.” I gestured into the house, already getting nervous.
The woman and her husband glanced at each other, their faces already showing hints of judgment.
Suddenly, their son spoke up just then. “Did the Alpha chase you out because you cheated on him?”
