Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 98
Chapter 98: _His To Hunt
“Uh, Beta Negan?”
I turned around, my phone still pressed against my face as I scrutinized the girl before me.
It was Brittany, Phoebe’s current personal maid who seemed to be close to that Miranda girl.
She had a shy smile on her face as she glanced around the garden. “G– Good morning, sir. Can we talk?”
I smirked, keeping my phone in my pocket.
Time to use my charms.
“Why, yes, dear. Follow me.” I beckoned on her, taking the lead and walking out of the garden within the compound.
However, I noticed she wasn’t following me and glanced back, arching an eyebrow.
She fiddled nervously with her fingers before she spoke. “Actually, sir, can we talk somewhere private? Like your place perhaps?”
Well, well, well…
My smile only widened as I nodded, beckoning to her with a nod of my head.
She smiled as well, but she wasn’t deceiving anyone with that smile.
From the first night I interacted with her when the Alpha Council members were investigating Miranda’s death, I’d noticed the look in her eyes.
It was the look of someone ready to get what they want in whatever way possible.
A look that wasn’t foreign to me.
Anyway, I led her out of the compound and walked steadily, but decided to strike up a conversation before we got to my place.
I subconsciously glanced around, ensuring no one saw us leaving. Perfect.
“So, I’m guessing you overheard my call?” I asked, smiling at her.
She seemed shy but nodded. “Yeah, I wanted to say that I know what you’re going through, and I sincerely wish there was something I could do to help.”
Her voice sounded suggestive, further heightening my suspicions.
“Thank you, Brittany,” I muttered, making sure my voice was as sweet as ever.
Her face lit up just then as she held my shoulder. “You know my name?!” She nearly screamed.
However, I glanced at her hand on my shoulder and it didn’t take long for her to notice her blunder.
She quickly withdrew her hand, bowing slightly. “Forgive me, Beta. I–”
“It’s fine.” I waved my hand dismissively as we continued walking.
The estate was quiet this time of the day and there was no one in sight.
Brittany seemed to realize that and took the opportunity to cling a little too close to me, her arm brushing against mine.
Hehe… She was playing with fire and was about to get burnt.
“I’m curious about why you requested to see me privately, Brittany,” I remarked, glancing at her. “Is there anything you’d wish to share with me?”

She seemed hesitant at first but insisted still. “I– I only wanted to ask if you needed anything, sir. I feel bad for you and wanted to help, that’s all.” She stuttered.
Way too much stuttering for someone who wasn’t hiding anything.
Finally, we got to my private residence and I paused in front of the place, placing my arms in front of myself. “Well, if you want to tell me anything and I mean anything, let me know. As for now, I don’t need anything from you.” I revealed.
She seemed distraught, lowering her head. But that was merely just a tactic I was using to manipulate her.
If she was the culprit responsible for leaking the information about the affair to the pack, then this was her trying to gauge my reaction and see if I was safe.
She was a smart girl but not smart enough.
“Very well, sir. I’ll be on my way.” She bowed slightly one last time before turning around and leaving.
I watched her back as she left, a smirk curling up my lips.
“Time to watch the rat walk into my trap,” I muttered, walking back into my private residence.
.
.
When night time came, I was in my office, reading through some ledgers from my company.
I’ve been so busy with my mission from the Brotherhood that I’ve been neglecting my business.
Kaene thought it was tough being the Alpha. He should try being the leader of a worldwide organization while being the Beta of a pack and a spy sent by said organization.
Just when I was almost finished sorting out the ledgers, a knock came on my door, causing me to raise my head.
“Come in, Rowland.”
He was the only one in the house with me anyway. I wasn’t expecting anyone else.
The door swung open and Rowland walked in as expected, a smile on his face— as usual.
“I got a letter for you, Negan.” He announced, dropping an envelope on my desk.
My brows creased as I grabbed the envelope, scrutinizing it just in case before tearing it open.
I unfolded the letter and read through it, but the more I read it, the more my facial expressions changed until I finally burst into hysterical laughter.
Rowland stood there silently, not bothering to ask me anything about why I was laughing.
Eventually, I sighed, shaking my head. “Wolves. Such predictable and deliciously corrupt creatures.” I muttered before dropping the letter.
I fixed my gaze on Rowland, arching a curious eyebrow. “Well, where did you get the letter from?”
He was quick to respond. “I saw it kept in front of the door. It seems whoever dropped it snuck into the compound and snuck out without my notice. But it’s definitely a wolf, based on the scent.”
Excellent!
This was all going according to the way I predicted it.
Rowland seemed curious and asked. “What did the letter say?”
I drummed my fingers on the armrest of my seat, adjusting my sitting position. “Well, it seems the culprit behind the leaking of the affair to the general public has confessed and wants to see me.”
Rowland smirked amusingly, placing his hands on the desk. “Oh, and who could it be? Should I go fish them out and bring them for you?”
But I didn’t take that question lightly and frowned. “No. They’re mine to hunt. And I already know what to do next since the person told me where to drop my response letter.”
I smirked to myself as I imagined all the fun I was soon going to have. I’ll make this person pay for thinking they could ruin Phoebe’s life and get away with it.
Phoebe was MINE to mess around with. There was only room for one devilish manipulator in her life.
