Rise To Stardom - Chapter 112
Chapter 112: Spoilers
-Ding!
Ignoring his system’s ringing in his head, Kyle had expected for all three before him to take their time, evaluating his audition.
Usually, that’s how most of his auditions had always been, even if he was certain that he had impressed the judges.
Sure, in his mind, he felt like he did a great job of showcasing every quality of The Curator he had in mind during this audition too but, still, considering he did it all on his own, and especially without the help of [Deep Dive], he was still quite concerned if his own acting prowess alone was enough.
‘There are far better actors that could’ve given an even more convincing performance…’
That was what the young man was thinking about when suddenly, a few words, hit him like a thunderbolt.
“You got the role.”
Silence.
Stunned silence.
That was what Kyle was experiencing at the moment as he watched Jon, along with Barry and Tiana casually exchanging a few words.
“I agree Jon. He’s the only actor so far who went all out to get the role.” the producer, stated with a nod of agreement, a light grin present on his features as he got up to switch off the camera in a corner of the room, one which had been previously set up to record every audition.
“I think, I might… I just might, enjoy, working with him…” Tiana remarked with a thin smile, one to which Jon reacted by then speaking to Kyle with a calm yet satisfied expression;
“Hear that Kyle. That’s pretty high praise coming from Tiana. Do your best to get along with her and live up to those expectations.”
Yet, for Kyle, he stood there, unsure of what to do, his expression, one of puzzled befuddlement.
“Say Kyle. Did you write the script with which you acted with, on your own?” Jon, not even minding Kyle’s stunned state, inquired, his sugar-gray eyes, curious.
“Ah no…” the young man gathered himself quickly enough to respond as he continued;
“I had some help from a friend.”
“Well, I’d like to meet this friend of yours. Please drop his or her contact with Richard once we move to my office.” Jon requested with a thin smile as he got up from his chair, gesturing for Kyle to come along.
“Though, it’s something you’ll also see in the contract’s clause, it’s important that you know, that although you got the role, it stays confidential till we say otherwise.” Jon added as Kyle trailed behind him whilst replying, a dazed expression still present on his face;
“Alright…”
…
…
…
Oliver wasn’t the least bit surprised that his ward had bagged the role.
Okay.
Maybe to a tiny extent, he actually was.
But, for the most part, the outcome of it wasn’t completely puzzling to him the way it was to his ward.
Considering Jon himself, requested for the young man to audition for the role, the agent knew that the Dreamland Executive must’ve seen something worthwhile enough in Kyle to have him come in for a private screening regarding such a big role.
Added to that, Kyle himself had taken the audition very seriously, enough that he put in a lot more effort into it than his previous auditions.
Sure he understood that his ward must’ve felt that there would at least be some sort of down time for consideration regarding his audition, one which would involve weighing his acting against those of other potential actors or actresses, Oliver, still remained slightly unfazed by the situation.

So, despite Kyle still being unable to completely wrap his head around the outcome of it, Oliver, whom was now sitting in Jon’s office along with Kyle, began to read through the contract.
‘The clause… A single season, just like all the others… That’s great…’ the agent mused to himself with a thoughtful gaze, his attention and focus, solely on the contract as he sat on the couch opposite Jon’s.
It was also the couch Kyle was seated on.
Considering staying for extended periods of time in a series or a show had a sort of detrimental effect of having the actors being type-casted into a certain persona or role, DreamLand Inc. (especially Jon), always had the actors who starred on the show, stick around, only for a single season to counteract that.
Even with the 5th Curator, an actor whom had instantly being catapulted to stardom due to his phenomenal role as the enigmatic time traveler, Jon did the same despite fans, heavily clamoring for him to stay for the upcoming seasons.
It was a clause in the contract a lot of actors, agents and talent agencies were usually grateful for, especially back when the show was in its glory days as it meant they could completely dedicate their all to acting as they were tasked with without the fear of stagnation and being chained to the series for years on end.
Now though, no one really cared about the clause since the show was almost at rock bottom.
As for Kyle, despite Oliver’s intent focus on the contract, he on the other hand, was having a discussion with Jon.
“It might feel shocking to you Kyle but, like Barry previously said, you were the only actor who gave his best and in my opinion, also nailed the part.” Jon placed the cup of coffee on his saucer.
There were also two other cups of coffee on the sleek, modernly designed glass table situated before Kyle and Oliver, both of which were left untouched, steamed vapor exuding from it.
“That’s why you got the role.” the Dreamland Exec. gestured to Kyle in continuation, his expression calm.
To that, the young man simply nodded in understanding… although the stunned feeling he had of suddenly bagging the role, remained fresh in his mind.
“It’ll sink in eventually.” Jon stated casually, realizing that the young man wasn’t completely over being given the role almost immediately.
“That said, I did agree to tell you why we’re deciding to cast a young actor for the role this time.” the Exec. said to Kyle, one which elicited a curious expression from the young man.
“Richard.” Jon requested immediately after and his secretary, one whom had been standing behind the couch he was on, retrieved a few documents from his file and placed it on the table.
Picking up the document, a statistic of the demographic of viewers whom had been watching the show over the years, Kyle soon stated with an apprehensive gaze after a few minutes of scanning through it;
“Teens.”
“Exactly.” Jon nodded slightly, seeing that Kyle understood what he was after.
Demographics usually determined a lot of time, how a series should cater to its audience.
A romantic-comedy series, one which had an average looking male lead or cast of actors, wouldn’t be one that would get a lot of ladies invested in it when compared to another rom-com series with very attractive actors and actresses.
Sure it sucked every now and then but, unsurprisingly, that was, quite simply, how things were.
Now although, some shows or series, just wouldn’t give demographics an inch and would just do whatever the heck they wanted, Jon cared.
A whole lot.
Considering Kyle was quite literally, a celebrity whom was adored and admired by both teenage girls and boys in equal measure, he was quite literally, a fantastic choice for the Executive.
Still, that wasn’t something that would stop him from creating a good story like most other showrunners tended to forget.
For him, it was simply something he had to keep in mind while crafting a good story.
Catering to the audience was one thing.
Creating a good story, was another.
As a result, no sooner had Jon replied, he continued speaking;
“But still, it’s only one of the major reasons why we’re going with casting a younger actor.”
Hearing that, Kyle got even more curious but Jon’s next words, was one he hadn’t even expected;
“A reboot. This will be the last season of what you’ve always known Kyle, and likewise, a new season of what will come to be.” the Dreamland Executive had a mysterious smile on his lips as he concluded.

Finally getting the chance to check out his system’s notifications, a thin smile was present on Kyle’s face as he and Oliver descended to the lower floors via the elevator.
‘As for you…’ Kyle’s gaze lingered on his total points, remembering that [Growth Spurt] mercilessly took 25,000 exp. points, the young man inwardly commented just after;
‘I’ll wait till I hit that threshold…’
Closing off the translucent panel, the elevator finally arriving back at the empty, expansive reception lobby, Kyle and Oliver stepped out, both individuals in a really good mood.
However, both immediately ran into two different individuals, both of whom were exchanging pleasantries and hugs as they conversed with each other in front of the elevator.
“Thank you Jasmine.” Tiana smiled at the young actress, the lead actress in [Evermore Chronicles] which had just rounded up recently and also, a main actress in the upcoming season of The Curator.
“You’re most welcome Tiana. Still, are you sure you don’t need to take a break? [EC] just ended a few months ago no?” Jasmine questioned with a curious, thin, playful smile.
“I should say the same to you.” Tiana countered with a light smile instead, one Jasmine simply grinned in response to.
She had come quite early this morning to sign the contract for the role she was offered, one which her agent whom was already on the upper floors, was handling.
“Hello, Miss. Rivers. Miss. Faye.” Kyle’s smooth voice soon cascaded over to the ears of both women, causing them to turn over to face both he and his agent, a gaze of pleasant surprise on Jasmine’s features.
Oliver too, gave his polite greetings, his calm voice, quietly echoing across the expanse of the lobby.
Soon, all four began exchanging pleasantries, one that eventually led to Oliver and Tiana really hitting it off.
As this happened, Jasmine moved close to Kyle and then whispered, her gaze curious;
“So, did you get the role?”
Staring at her, remembering their conversation at the party last year, Kyle, instead of responding in the affirmative, stuck to protocols and simply said, his smile mysterious;
“Spoilers.”
Hearing that, knowing fully well that protocols required of Kyle to not share that information until he was allowed to, Jasmine respected his decision.
Yet, a small grin was forming on her lips as she responded, her voice still whispery;
“Hmmm… I like that word though.”
“I thought you might.” Kyle replied, the mysterious smile never leaving his lips as he held her gaze.
Yet, just a few minutes later, after both parties gave their respective farewells, they both dispersed and headed over to their respective destinations.
