Rise To Stardom - Chapter 205
Chapter 205: Den of Nerds
Only an hour had passed after the Grand Reveal Showcases from Games Con and a plethora of articles had already hit the internet.
[THE BEST REVEALS AND MOMENTS FROM GAMES CON: [A PIRATE’S ODYSSEY], [CALL OF THE WIND] AND [TECH WIZ] STOLE THE SPOTLIGHT.]

[IS GAME’S CON STILL THE KING OF GAMING CONVENTIONS IN 2021?]
[GAME’S CON SURPRISE: [TECH WIZ] SHOWCASE BRINGS FANS TO THEIR FEET!]
From articles focused on the grand reveals at the convention, to fan-focused featured articles, all the way to analysis and commentary based articles, more and more articles kept hitting the internet.
However, despite these plethora of articles, a good chunk of gamers whom were unable to attend, still waited for Den of Nerds, one of the most popular and reputable gaming blogs to release an article on their site.
Known for their unhinged, cultural yet fun, brutally unbiased take on everything in the gaming sphere, gamers absolutely adored the gaming media company’s commitment to focusing solely on gamers themselves without any other shenanigans in the form of political propaganda.
And soon, just as a lot of their active followers impatiently waited for them to release the link to their article on various social media platforms, they did;
[GAME’S CON THROUGH THE AGES: 20 YEARS OF ICONIC REVEALS AND MEMORABLE MOMENTS!!]
Games Con.
You sons of guns, you’ve done it again!
Twenty years and still, you remain the Crowned King of Gaming Conventions all over the world!
For two decades, this beloved gaming convention has stood as the ultimate celebration of gaming culture, a stage where dreams are realized, trailers and showcases become legendary, and fans unite to share their love of interactive entertainment. From its humble beginnings to its current status as the most anticipated gaming convention in the world, Game’s Con has deli––
Alright, fine!
We get it, OKAY!!
No one wants to hear the boring, nerd talk (Seriously, why then are we called Den of Nerds?!!!)
Anyway, at the end of the day, we as gamers all know that Games Con is mostly about the big showcases and grand reveals of the latest flagship games from the Studio Giants and promising Indie Devs.
No one gives a shit about what DLC studios are releasing for their dying games-as-a-service title (hey there, Concor–– we mean Shitcordia! Ahem. For a moment there, we were almost nice to them).
And neither do we give two hoots about those shitty videogame adaptations (Those greedy ass corporates literally ruined Eclipse: Combat Evolved last year people!).
So! Without further ado, let’s dive right into why you should be sulking and eating a bucket of ice cream in denial if you missed this year’s Games Con!
Here are the highlights;
Virtustation, once again, crushed ZBox with their plethora of flagship exclusives (Seriously, go watch our video about it on our ViewTube channel. It’s hilarious).
[The Fable of Xenon: Call of The Wind], finally has a release date after five years of development! (Grab a red pen and circle November 3rd on those calendars gamers!).
[Grand Thievery Auto VI] was teased but still has no concrete release date (But hey, at least we know it’s still in development and not just some mythical game).
[Rip & Tear: Eternal] will be coming to all platforms on the 23rd of September (Personally, we can’t wait to abuse the grappling hook mechanic!).
[Soul Knight] is launching next month after three years of going radio silent and the date’s June 7th (Gotta be honest, we’re extremely excited about this one).
[A Pirate’s Odyssey] calls us to the sea on the the 5th of August (All hands on deck, ye scurvy dogs! Pirate tales be awaitin’, arrr!).
Hmmm. That seems to be all…
But hol’ up a minute!
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
New information’s just getting to us!
A practically unknown studio, swooped in and stole the show at the very last minute?
SpawnPoint Studios you say?
Uh huh.
They showcased a twenty-five minute gameplay of their first, AAA videogame based off of a lesser-known but gem of a comic book called [Tech Wiz]?!
Uh-huh!
Their CEO’s The, Kyle Kestis?!!
Uh-huh!!
It retails at $39.99 and is releasing on the same day as [A Pirate’s Odyssey]?!!!
Then why the hell are we here writing this goddamn article?!!!
Have you forgotten we’re geeks here at Den of Nerds?!!
We need to go catch up on [Tech Wiz]’s oldest and latest issues then, pronto!
Get this darn article out of my sight!

No sooner had gamers around the world read that article, mostly through the link Den of Nerds had pinned on the main page of their TweetTalk’s account, most immediately began engaging with the post after they’d read it;

Also, I’m so glad people are finally getting interested in my favorite comic book of all time! Thank you SpawnPoint Studios for bringing this gem of a comic book to the light!

As more and more comments kept pouring into the comments section of the now viral post, GameSoft’s Studio’s CEO, soon began getting bombarded with calls from all of the company’s business investors, all of them asking if [Tech Wiz] would be a hindrance to [A Pirate’s Odyssey].
To that, the CEO simply replied that despite the surprise release of the superhero game, launching on the same day as theirs, recent analytics from their Marketing and PR department, actually showed that most gamers, hadn’t really changed their minds on getting their game.
“Projected returns are still well above breaking even so lay your worries to rest.” Hector, currently seated in his limo which was taking him to GameSoft’s Games Con after party, stated with a relaxed smile to one of their major investors.
And surprisingly, that was the truth.
Despite SpawnPoint’s Studio surprise drop of [Tech Wiz], gamers were still planning to get both.
Considering how heavily marketed the Pirate-sim RPG was, along with they hype they had been building up for the past two years now, gamers were still very much, just as interested in their game as they were in the superhero game.
Listening to Hector’s words from the other end of the phone though, Griffin took in a deep breath and then responded;
“Alright then. I hope you’re right Hector.”
With those words, the line of transmission was cut as Griffin, placed his phone aside and leaned into the seat of his Bentley Continental GT.
However, even as he did this, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of doubt in his heart that [A Pirate’s Odyssey] wouldn’t be the behemoth he had originally hoped for it to be.
Recalling how [Tech Wiz]’s grand reveal, had the gamers in the auditorium in shambles of thrilled fervor, way before Kyle Kestis even took the stage, Griffin heaved another deep breath to calm his mind and tensed nerves.
Not wanting to linger any longer on his thoughts lest other emotions he was trying to suppress bubbled to the surface, the former CEO then ignited the engine of his car, the vehicle gliding out of the car park as he also made his way to GameSoft Studio’s after party.

Kyle’s rise to fame, especially as an independent artist, was astonishing to say the least.
Yet, if one examined his Hollywood career closely, they would soon come to one, peculiar, realization that laid the groundwork for his exponential rise to fame and fortune.
And that, was the unexpected shades of variations the young man brought to the table an artist.
Whereas other artists in the cut-throat industry would focus majorly on either making music or making movies to stay relevant, Kyle was ever shifting, unrestrained by the need stay rooted to one place.
At the same time, despite most artists enamored by the glitz and glam of Hollywood, Kyle wasn’t.
In fact, he was one of the very few outliers in the industry who was not interested in the glam and not remotely impressed, by the glitz.
This made his next moves, and quite literally Kyle himself as a person, unpredictably mysterious to most in the industry… an industry that did in fact, thrive on the glam and glitz.
Oliver, Gwen and Stuart, knew this, perfectly.
As a result, from the very first day they had asked of Kyle to lay low as at early last month, they had more or less set a well-engineered and systematic plan in motion.
This plan, was made, not just to prevent an overexposure of Kyle Kestis to the public after the success of his album but to also build up a fresh air of mystery and suspense on what he had been up to whilst laying low from the media.
And now, with his surprise reveals at Games Con, he was once again the most talked about news, both in Hollywood and in the gaming sphere without the label of oversaturation, plastered on him.
That said, August 5th would be in exactly two months.
And it would come, much sooner, rather than later with an interesting turn of events between the most anticipated Pirate-sim RPG of the year and the recently hyped action-adventure superhero videogame.
But in between those moments, Kyle Kestis would finally be doing live shows again…
… live shows his team had purposely booked in advance for this very moment when he would be at another peak of his fame.
This news as one would expect, was received with an immensely positive reception of thrilled joy and excitement from his many fans, music critics and music enthusiasts in the industry alike.
