Rise To Stardom - Chapter 92
Chapter 92: Famous
Taking on his Tuesday morning shift, Todd, the high-school teen who had gone to watch [Epoch One] with his buddies again yesterday night, slipped into work mode.
Already used to working as a male waiter at a small, lesser-known restaurant whenever he was on summer vacation like now, the young chap began to receive orders from the customers in a seamlessly familiar manner.
Some regulars even gave him a few tips despite him never even requesting for it.
That was how well-known he was at the place.
Noticing a certain secluded corner of the restaurant where two individuals were seated at, Todd walked over and then said;
“Hello. May I get your orders?”
Glancing over at the two individuals; one, a man in his forties who was was seemingly scrolling through his phone and the other, a young man who was currently reading a comic book, Todd awaited their orders.
Gently placing the comic book down, alongside folding his glasses too, Kyle then raised his head up to respond to the waiter.
“Just orange juice and some salad really. I’m not in the mood for anything heav-” he suddenly stopped when he noticed the waiter was staring at him with widened eyes of awe.
“It’s you! You’re Alex Hu- I mean Kyle Kestis!” Todd suddenly broke his professionalism and exclaimed!
‘Oh shit…’ Kyle muttered the moment this happened as everyone in the restaurant turned to face him.
And then, like a shaken soda bottle with its cap uncorked, a lot of people, especially teenagers and young adults in the restaurant, swarmed towards him.
“It’s really him! It’s really Kyle Kestis!”
“Oh my God! Oh my God! Kyle in the flesh!”
“You’re such a talented musician!”
“I’m a big fan! Can I have your autograph?!”
“He looks even more handsome than the pictures!”
“I really love [Strange Canvas] and [Embers]! Can I take a picture?!”
“You killed your role as Alex Hunt in the movie man!”
Watching as he was suddenly bombarded with an unexpected crowd of people and their similarly unexpected slew of questions, Kyle wondered if he’d ever get used to this.
Not wanting to be rude though, he quickly responded to everyone as politely as he could.
…
…
…
“Thank you. Thank you so much.” a young teenage girl with blushing cheeks shyly said as her friends giggled behind her with mischievous expressions.
“You’re most welcome, Miss?” Kyle gave her a light, polite smile in response as he questioned instead.
No sooner had the lady heard that, she quickly bolted out of the area with a reddened face without even responding while her friends scurried after her, their harmless, hearty chuckles filling the restaurant.
Kyle on the other hand, having finally responded to the last of them, still a bit curious as to why the lady bolted so fast without answering his question though, sighed in relief as he sat back onto his chair.
Placing his head onto the cool metallic table of the restaurant, the young man had a truly happy smile on his face.
Truth be told, there was a certain joy that came with being recognized whenever he went out these past few days.

He wasn’t completely used to his slowly increasing fame just yet, but, gradually, he was getting the hang of it.
‘Just don’t ever let it get to your head though…’ he warned himself.
And then, suddenly perking up, he threw an accusatory glance towards his agent from across the table.
“What? You seemed to be handling it pretty well.” Oliver simply said as he took a sip of his black coffee, one that Todd had already brought, along with Kyle’s order a few seconds back.
There was an unusually sly smile, plastered on the agent’s lips though as he continued scrolling through his phone’s screen, one that Kyle couldn’t help but squint at.
Shaking his head, not wanting to deal with Oliver at the moment because he was feeling quite hungry, Kyle who was just about to eat his food, watched as three high-school chumps, all males, came over to meet him whilst requesting for pictures and autographs.
All three respectively were, Will, Casey and Reggie, all of whom were buddies with Todd who had informed them about Kyle being at the restaurant.
…
…
…
“Long coats are cool!” Kyle argued with his agent.
“Yeah. No one’s arguing Kyle.” Oliver watched as Kyle laid out his new outfits for the week on the bed of their hotel.
Honestly, the agent still never understood why his ward had such preferences for long coats… or maybe even coats and jackets in general.
Frankly, Oliver didn’t care either.
Everyone was allowed to have their preferences.
What he did care about though, was the no-good paparazzi camping out in front of their hotel.
Oliver even knew the little shit as he was famous for targeting fresh new celebrities who mostly had next to no idea of how to handle themselves in public.
‘Bob Taylor… here we go again…’ the man parted the window blinds a bit, watching with a jaded gaze as a certain old man who thought he was doing a good job of hiding himself, snooped around the premises.
‘This has to be one of the most annoying things about being famous though…’ the agent sighed a bit as he glanced over to Kyle who wasn’t even perturbed by the issue.
Over the past few days, both of them had started noticing a bunch of people occasionally tailing them every now and then.
Truth be told, it was quite an uncomfortable feeling but Kyle, without Oliver even having to tell him, knew that this was a downside to also getting famous.
“Don’t mind them Oliver. I’ll be fine. Besides, I have nothing to hide. Let them gallivant as much as they’d like to.” Kyle casually said as he returned some of the outfits into the wardrobe.
“You sure? These guys are some of the worst kinds of people. Especially to celebrities.” Oliver responded with a strong hint of disdain.
He actually had a lot of nasty experiences dealing with them so his genuine dislike towards them was very understandable.
“And Bob is one of the worst to new celebrities. You wake up one morning and boom, he’s written some baseless rumor about you that could be a real pain in the ass.” the agent added, his expression serious.
“Well, that’s the thing isn’t it? He might think I’m a celebrity, but I don’t see myself as such.” Kyle shrugged and said.
“If he’s looking for some dirt or weird pictures, then I guess he’s in for a very boring month in the life of a currently unemployed 21-year old!” the young man declared with a proud grin.
Staring at his ward with a look of resignation, wondering how he managed to give the most unexpected responses, another sigh escaped Oliver’s lips as he said;
“Alright then Kyle.”
“Still, keep your guard up. You can never know what to expect from him, or these guys in general.” Oliver advised.
“Duly noted.” Kyle nodded in response.
“That being said though, asides the private screening, you do realize there’s no reason for you to tag along with Bruce and Jeffrey for the talk show, or the other interviews, or live shows.” the agent switched topics.
“Yeah.” Kyle casually responded.
“And neither is there any need for you to the show up at the celebration party next week. You still haven’t had a proper down-time for resting you know.” Oliver gestured with his hands, a hint of worry in his tone.
“I know. But I’ll go regardless. It’d be a bit rude if I didn’t. I am part of the main cast after all.” Kyle replied with a soft, assuring smile.
Nodding his head at that, a small sigh of resignation escaping his lips, the agent then asked;
“Who are you going to give your extra invite to then?”
“Lily.” Kyle casually answered.
“That was fast.” Oliver replied, mildly surprised by Kyle’s quick response as he moved away from the window.
“A date?” he curiously added.
“Nope. Nothing of sorts.” Kyle casually responded and then continued;
“I just figured she’d be in need of more connections like me. It’s an opportunity I think she’d love since she’s been struggling with landing a proper movie role.”
“That is true.” Oliver lowered onto the couch in the room as he said;
“Guess I’ll hand over mine to her agent, Selena.”
Kyle simply nodded at that, watching as Oliver mused to himself before he then posed a few curious questions;
“Have you contacted her about it though? See if she’s free? And doesn’t she reside in Canada?”
Kyle was just about to respond when the bell to his door was rung by the room attendant, signifying that their evening meals were ready.
“Nah. Lily’s a New Yorker through and through.” Kyle answered the last question first with a chuckle.
“And yeah. I have contacted her. She said she’s gonna be on Broadway a few days from now.” Kyle finally replied to the first few questions.
“Give me Selena’s too. I’ll hand over both invites to Lily after her show.” he added whilst moving over to open the door.

Kyle’s fan group was buzzing with excitement as their numbers once again increased.
Previously at 1000+ before, they had now reached a total of 2500+ members.
As a result, a lot of the core fans in the group had now become moderators, courtesy of Princess Peach, the creator of said group, handing out the roles to those who were willing.
Right now though, they were still finding the leaked clips of Kyle practicing at the shooting range, learning how to drift a car, learning martial arts, among many others, very exciting.
But the one that garnered the most attention though, was the clip of him dislocating his arm.
Some were really worried when they saw the clip, some shocked while some just couldn’t help but respect him even more for going to such lengths.
That being said though, currently, on the moderators’ chat group, were a few of them who were still awake at midnight, having a few discussions here and there.

WeDoABitOfTrolling: Kyle is a dedicated mad lad. You can’t tell me otherwise!
Peter_Writes_Fantasy: @WeDoABitOfTrolling; I completely agree. That could’ve really turned out dangerous. Glad to see he’s doing splendidly well though. Guess he made a full recovery before [Strange Canvas] went viral then.
N0c: His work ethic is something else. Can’t imagine doing anything so stressful just after filming a movie for three months. Props to the man honestly.

Princess Peach: @Mamma Mia; That’s exactly what I’m gonna take! And don’t talk to me, you lottery-winning lady!
Ana_MZ_27: @Princess Peach; Seeing you act like a drama queen never ceases to make my day. That being said, I heard tomorrow’s episode of The Craig Mercury Show will have the main cast of [Epoch One] as guests. Hopefully we get to see Kyle again on the talk show.
WaifuWithARocketLauncher: @Ana_MZ_27; I really hope he does. Kinda goes to show that he’s actually become quite famous if they’re also inviting him alongside his other, more established actors to the talk show.
