Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 102
Chapter 102: Shadow Creature
The difference between shadow creature and shadow legion was that shadow creature had no immortality buff.
The shadow creature could die because of light element while the members of the shadow legion would technically exist as long as the Lich still has mana. They would never die and would recover quickly.
Inspecting the shadow creature, Riya found that the shadow creature had died.
‘In that case….’
The runes moved and a magic core was taken. There were not many magic cores that Riya had gathered so far because the number of rank 1 magic beasts were limited. She tossed these cores to her world but forbid her world from absorbing them.
She could make a good use of these magic cores in the future.
And the magic core in Riya’s hand was a rank 2 core, which meant that this shadow creature was a rank 2 magic beast.
Riya looked at the magic core that was slightly bigger and pursed her lips. She looked below and sighed internally. She didn’t know how deep it is, but if she continued, there might chance for her to meet with higher ranked magic beast.
With her magic, she could see the place as clear as the day, but it would not prevent her from being sneak attacked.
The terrain in this place was like a rocky mountain.
“Should I continue?” Riya muttered to herself and looked below. It would be dangerous but at the same time, she was also curious.
She wanted an answer.
And to gather these magic beasts’ corpses and magic cores.
Rank 2 magic beasts were still within the rank that she could handle and rank 3 magic beasts were fine too. But if there were rank 4 magic beasts down there, Riya didn’t have the confidence to defeat it.
“Well, why are you hesitating?” Riya chuckled. “You’ve survived in that world and if you’re being timid here, you wouldn’t be able to gain anything.”
She had challenged many things in that world and Riya knew that the mana concentration in this crack was higher than the ground. This made practicing here much better than outside, but these magic beasts surprisingly wanted to go out instead.
Riya didn’t know what these magic beasts were thinking.
She took a deep breath and continued exploring.
…
Amelia’s side
It has been a few days after Riya left. Amelia hoped that she could communicate with Riya, but it was certainly impossible. The connection tower and so on were completely destroyed.
The good thing was that the number of the magic beasts had decreased.
It was just…
“Brother, you’re not seriously asking us to process the meat of those magic beasts, right?” Amelia looked at the factory in front of her with confusion. She and Sean were called by Samuel to participate in the matter of the base and not only seen their time training.
If their family truly wanted to control the power, Samuel would need some people whom he could trust.
His two sister and brother were the candidates he had in mind.
“Yes.” Samuel nodded. “The mana contained in the magic beasts’ body are mixed and more violent than the mana we usually use. So if you try to eat the meat directly, your body will suffer because of the violent mana. If you can’t restrain it, there’s a possibility your heart will burst and you will die.”
Amelia and Sean were both stunned and then took a step back.
They had already learned from Samuel that for mages and even warrior, their mana heart was basically their most important organ. If they wanted to get stronger, their focus had to be their man heart.
Otherwise, all kind of talk would be utterly useless.

“This…”
“This doesn’t mean that they can’t be eaten at all. As long as you use purification spell, you can still eat it,” Samuel replied.
“Then, can you use the spell, Brother?”
“Yes, I learned it not long ago from the Martial Arts Association,” Samuel admitted frankly. To be honest, he was a bit depressed when he learned about the existence of this spell from Peter.
Because he was born and raised in influential family in that world, Samuel had never had any trouble about eating and drinking, so he never considered about this matter at all. He thought that processing these magic beasts’ meat would be easy just like how they processed ordinary food.
And then Peter came to tell him, asking his help to spread that they were not allowed to eat the meat directly.
Samuel himself would be fine because his body was strong. Even if he would suffer a bit in the end because of the violent nature of the mana contained in the meat, he would still survive.
But if it was ordinary people without the slightest bit of mana…
They would die.
Introducing the mana into a person’s body was a long process that couldn’t be done quickly. They had to ensure that they were careful not to hurt their own organ in the process.
But controlling the mana obtained from the magic beasts directly was bound to be impossible.
It was too violent.
Not to mention, the element might not be suitable for them.
“The Martial Arts Association has this?” Amelia was surprised. “Do you have to exchange it with contribution points?”
“No, this will be public spells,” Samuel replied.
Because of the necessity for this basic purification spell, the association didn’t make it hard for them to obtain it. It would be basically given to everyone who joined the association in the future.
Peter himself said that this was the very basic level because he couldn’t obtain the higher ranked ones.
Besides, he didn’t really learn many spells due to the limitation of his mana.
If he could become a pure mage, why should he go straight to the physical arts side?
Isn’t it good to raise his hand and cause explosion with a single spell?
So what Peter knew was only the most basic spells.
