Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 119
Chapter 119: Punishment
“Hmm?” Samuel looked at his sister and shook his head. “Your break is cancelled.”
Amelia opened her mouth and wailed. “No, you can’t do this! I need that break…”
“I think you need training more than a break,” Samuel said calmly and then nodded at Amelia’s friends before his eyes landed on Riya. A light flashed in his eyes when he remembered the magic scroll that Amelia showed to him before.
The corner of his lips curled up slightly. He nodded at Riya. “It’s good to see you alive.”
“Yes? Thank you, Senior Samuel,” Riya replied and looked a bit perplexed. Thinking that she left without seeing him, Riya felt a bit guilty.
But…
This man is really strong.
Now that Riya had reached rank 4 and saw Samuel who was wiping his sweat not far from her, Riya could faintly sense Samuel’s rank.
The ranking between mages and magic warriors were usually based on their fighting capabilities. For mages, the amount of mana would also be put into calculation while the magic warrior would care more for their aura while the amount of mana could be fewer.
But for either profession, they could see each other’s strength through some methods.
For magic warriors, the easiest way was through sensing the aura that was leaking out and also the muscles’s strength. It was not very visible to the naked eyes, but Riya could faintly sense the pressure that Samuel exuded.
He had reached rank 4.
Because Riya herself is a rank 4 and this kind of pressure that belonged to rank 4 was quite unique.
‘How did he train…? Forget it, physical training is not suitable for me.’
Knowing her own miserable talent, Riya didn’t want to humiliate herself by practicing like those warriors. While her physical strength had gotten stronger because of her runes and mana, she was only strong on the surface.
If she was asked to fight with only physical strength… it was estimated that she would die first in the hands of others.
Riya also didn’t want to make trouble.
For other people to find out the rank of a mage, it was usually through the magic spells they used. Otherwise, it would be hard to detect the mana inside a person’s body and even Riya couldn’t do it.
Between warrior and mages, it was clear that a mage could hide their strength better than warriors.
“Um, Brother, my friends will eat lunch together, okay?” Amelia wanted to complain about that break but that could be done later. For now, she wanted to ensure that her friends could have lunch together.
Lunch together?
Samuel’s eyes swept over Amelia’s friends before landing Riya and lastly back to Amelia. “Yes. The Carson Family will have a talk later and you will join me.”
Amelia opened her mouth and then closed it again, resigning to her fate of helping her brother with work again. She could guess that Samuel would not let her rest so easily before the work was done.
Thinking about this, Amelia really wanted to cry but no tears came out.
Sophia patted Amelia’s back. “Well, my grandpa had long wanted to have a proper talk and negotiation but he wants to wait until everyone had gathered.”
She and a few other people were still outside the villa areas not long ago, so her grandfather postponed the negotiation to wait for them. This was was something that Sophia herself knew.
Amelia looked at Sophia and asked, “You already know about this?”
Sophia nodded.
Amelia didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. It seemed that her fate of having to work again after this was unavoidable.
Amidst this hilarious atmosphere, they all have a lunch together. Amelia turned her anger into appetite and eat more than usual. This made Mrs. Jones so happy because it was rare to see Amelia eat so much.

The other three girls were also enjoying the food.
“The food here is far richer than the canteen,” Ruby commented and sighed deeply. Her salary as the assistant researcher might not be very high, but she could still go to the canteen and enjoyed the food there from time to time.
Anyway, it was not expensive.
There were also food prepared in the research institute, the standard for every assistant professor.
The amount was not much and the taste was barely passable. For Ruby who didn’t care too much about food taste, it was alright. But eating the same thing all the time would be quite boring, so she went to the canteen to change her food.
“Of course,” Amelia said proudly.
“You’re not the one who work,” Sean interrupted from the side.
“I still contributed!”
“I contributed more than you!”
“You rascal brother!”
The two brother and sister could not be at peace and bickered again. It seemed that bickering has become the norm in Amelia’s house and her friends were not surprised. They had seen this scene very often.
Besides, Sean was only a year to two younger than Amelia, so the two of them often competed with each other. Neither of them was the heir of the Jones Corporation, so their education was more relaxed.
Because of this, their relationship was also closer.
“You eat a lot, Riya.” Sophia noticed that Riya seemed to be eating a lot. Even if Riya usually ate quite a lot, this time it was far above the usual amount.
“Well, I need more energy?”Riya replied with a wry smile.
The food that she stored in that world would stay in the state of high concentration of mana. Before she ate those that she put in the frozen time place, she would let the world infuse more mana.
This would accelerate her practice.
Other than that, she also kept the rank 2 and rank 3 magic beasts’ meat that she hunted in that crack. These would be used for her meal in the future. After all, eating food that contained more mana would also help to accelerate her practice to a certain degree.
