Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 131
Chapter 131: Research Institute
Samuel returned with another card in his hand. He handed it over to Riya. “This is the access card to the research institute. However, this can only access the outer areas. You’re not allowed to enter the inner area.”
“Ok. Thank you, Senior Samuel,” Riya replied and accepted the card.
For the warning that Samuel gave to her, Riya didn’t mind that much. She had no interest to go into the research areas. After all, what interest her the most were runes and if the research had nothing to do with it, she would not pay attention to it.
Samuel nodded and then beckoned for the two girls to enter the research institute.
After passing by some rooms and climbed up the stairs, they reached the area where there were many people crowding the computer in front of them.
“Amazing.”
“The water is just like ordinary water.”
“How is it possible that this small core can make so much water…”
“The water also never overflows. It’s incredible.”
Riya blinked her eyes and then her eyes landed on the magic core on the basin on the table. There were a few more glasses of water around the basin. Clearly, these researchers have tried to move the magic core to several places.
The runes she made was for the magic core to convert the mana into water in a container. When the magic core itself was completely submerged in water, it would stop producing more water.
This was the most common design for the water magic core.
After all, the people who needed to use the magic core were not only magicians but also ordinary people. Ordinary people didn’t have mana, so this settings were added when making the runes.
“How’s the water?” Samuel interrupted. If he waited until they were done, it was estimated that they would not finish until tomorrow morning. He didn’t have that much time to wait that long.
“It’s safe to use.”
“There’s no difference from ordinary water.”
These researchers turned to look at Samuel in awe and some hesitation. Clearly, they hoped that they would be able to keep this magic core here so that they could do more research.
However, Samuel clearly told them that they were only allowed to check the water and not to keep it.
“Mr. Samuel, that…”
“This magic core will be used to provide water in the canteen,” Samuel said without hesitation and took out a jar to put the magic core. He naturally knew the feature of this magic core because it was similar to the ones he saw in that world.
“Yes.”
These researchers looked at the magic core and sighed.
“Where are the other magic cores I sent here before?” Samuel asked.
“They are here.” One of them walked to one of the rooms and took out a large box and put it on the table in front of Samuel.
Samuel nodded and opened the box. There were several sections inside the box with the magic core placed in each of these sections. These magic cores looked similar to each other but they were of different elements.
Taking one of them out, Samuel handed it to Riya. “This is another water magic core. Make another one.”
“Here?” Riya asked doubtfully. After the water magic core was engraved with the water runes, it had to be put into container or it would continue to produce water. This room has many electrical equipments.
If she were to make the runes for this water magic core on this place directly, she would make flood.
“No, come here.” Samuel pointed to one of the rooms nearby. It was actually a guest room, but it should be enough.
Riya walked in followed by the curious Amelia. Looking at this simple room, Riya raised her head and looked at the surveillance camera not far from her. It seemed that the security of this research institute was not that bad.

Though, she honestly couldn’t think of this place as a research institute given by how simple it is.
It was far from the research institute in her imagination.
“Take a seat.”
Riya sat down and Amelia also sat down beside her. There were many researchers who were curious outside, but Samuel beckoned for them to close the door. The matter of drawing the runes on these magic cores would not be told to them for the time being.
As Riya took out her jade pen, Samuel took a few more jars from the cupboard and placed them on the table.
Swish! Swish!
Riya’s movement was very swift and it only took a few seconds for the runes to be finished and then Riya put it in the jar in front of her. Water poured out of the magic core and filled the jar until the magic core was submerged and then it stopped.
“There’s only one water element magic core here,” Samuel said and then took out the other magic cores. “This is fire element magic core.”
Riya nodded and then asked, “Do you want to make it a heater or a fire controlled magic tool?”
Samuel arched his eyebrows. The term that Riya used was the same as how they used to call these things in that world back then.
Is it a coincidence?
“Fire controlled magic tool,” Samuel replied.
“Riya, do you seriously think about making a heater?” Amelia complained from the side. She didn’t need a heater. The temperature is already so hot that she felt like she was about to turn into a roasted person.
“Well… I don’t know if you will need one.” Riya didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she saw Amelia’s exaggerated expression. She chuckled and then moved her jade pen to carve the runes.
“Mana activated, so only mages can use it,” Riya reminded as she handed over the magic core to Samuel.
“I know.” Samuel held the magic core in his hand and silently poured his mana inside. After that, he felt that he could control the magic core in his hand to produce fire. He nodded and put the magic core on the table. “Next.”
