Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 134
Chapter 134: Differences
“Hey Riya, do you know which one is better: the water from the natural sources in the world or the one transformed from the magic core?” Amelia suddenly asked.
RIya heard this and arched her eyebrows. “Why do you ask?”
“Because brother said that this magic core will be prioritized for us to use instead of the people outside, so I figured out that this should be somewhat better. But I can’t really understand how it’s better than ordinary water,” Amelia replied.
The test result came that it was water.
Well, not exactly pure h2o but the mix within it was the components that was usually found in ordinary water they drank.
So Amelia was a bit curious about how this water was better.
“It’s because of the chemical processing,” Riya replied. “The water you drank usually contain some part of the chemical mixed in and the water from the magic core will instead contain a trace of mana. While the amount is not much, long term consumption can still help you to sense mana. It’s more effective for children, though.”
In that world, Riya was also curious why the people in big families would rather drink water from lower ranked magic cores. Only the people who were not mages would be willing to drink water that they dug out from the ground.
And then she found out that long tern consumption would allow their body to adapt to mana in advance.
Children who were raised in that environment would have much higher chance to become a mage and magic warriors.
It could be said that these children who were born and raised in big families were simply a winner in life. They were raised in the best environment possible for their future growth to the point that it was difficult for them to fail.
“The water contained mana?” Amelia was surprised. She looked at the jar in her hand and then resisted the urge to drink it. This was the water that they would put in the canteen and not for their personal use.
If it was possible, Amelia really wanted to bring it back home for their family to use.
Riya could guess what Amelia was thinking and felt amused. “It wouldn’t have much use for you, Mel.”
“Eh? Why?”
“Because you’re already a magic warrior. The amount of mana contained from this rank 1 magic core is very limited and usually only useful for ordinary people who had never come into contact with mana,” Riya replied. “If you want one that’s useful for you, you should take the resources from higher level magic core.”
The problem was, higher ranked magic cores were also useful for many other things and only rank 1 magic core was a bit tasteless for many people.
Even in that world, they would not transform the magic core of rank 2 and above to become this ordinary resources. Instead, they would use it for other means that could also help their practice.
In this way, they would be able to grow up quickly.
“I see.” Amelia could only put down the jar with disappointment. She thought that she would be able to make a good use of this magic core, but it turned out to be useless for her.
Riya chuckled when she saw Amelia’s expression.
“How do you know so much, Riya?”
“It’s stated in the inheritance,” Riya replied without changing her face. She felt that she has become more and more proficient in throwing the pot to this so called inheritance. After all, explaining about how she had lived four more years in different world seemed to be a bit more difficult.
“I see.”
The two of them walked until they reached the square. One of the building beside the square has been changed by Samuel to become the canteen. It was originally a mansion too but the shape had been somewhat changed so that there was a clearing on the front where they could eat.
If one had to say, it does look like a canteen.
“Outdoor?” Riya asked with some doubts.
She thought that these seats would be placed inside instead of outside like this.
“There are also seats inside, but it’s for the special people,” Amelia replied. “If you want to eat inside, you have to pay more.”
“…I see.”

Riya had the feeling that no matter where they go, the people who were rich would always have privilege. Naturally, they also have to pay more.
Then again, Riya thought about these magic cores that she had drawn the runes not long ago. Samuel should issue the contribution points to her soon or it might have been added to her account.
In this way, she was also a little rich woman.
‘But I don’t really need too much contribution point.’
The things that Riya needed were basically in her world or she could make it. She didn’t have any worry for food and drink.
The main use for these contribution points were probably only to find a living place.
“We’re here.” Amelia went to the person in charge and handed the jar. She told him what her brother said and then left again.
“It’s done.”
“So fast?”
“Yes.” Amelia nodded and then looked at the sky. She grinned. “It’s should be time for the government’s water aid. Do you want to take a look at it?”
“Government water aid?”
“After the earthquake and the fact that the current temperature is really hot, the government will send people to deliver water to various bases in every city. I’m not sure where they obtain the water, but everyone is allowed to have a bucket of water every week,” Amelia replied. “Of course, you have to provide your ID for identification and you can only get the water yourself.”
Before the earthquake happened, they could still get water on their own.
After the earthquake, everyone suffered from the heat but didn’t have enough supplies. The government took this matter to their own hand and delivered water once a week.
