Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 56
Chapter 56: Reminder
Sophia stuck out her tongue.
The Jones Family and Carson Family were once neighbor, which was how the two of them met in the past. They had known each other for so many years and was naturally familiar with each other’s temperament.
Amelia snorted. “I’ll sue to your brother too!”
“He’ll listen to me more!” Sophia puffed her chest confidently. There was no way her brother would listen to Amelia’s words more than hers.
Amelia gritted her teeth and secretly noted in her black notebook to make a prank to Sophia sometime in the future.
In the meantime, she turned to look at Riya. “Little Riya, thank you for helping out. But are you sure that you want to be so sharp to her? I know that she’s very unpleasant and scolding her is very satisfying, but if you leave no face to her, it might not be easy for you in the future.”
Amelia had seen from the surveillance before how sharp Riya was to the Taylor Family.
At that time, she didn’t say anything because it was not her business. Not to mention, the relationship between Riya and her so called half sister was extremely bad. So bad that she would not be surprised if the two of them clawed each other badly.
Of course, the two of them would not truly do that unless they wanted to spend the night in the police station.
But now that they were facing Amelia’s cousin and Amelia also heard Riya retorted sharply, Amelia felt that something was wrong. The current Riya was sharper and more direct in her speech, which was quite strange.
Not so strange that she would think that she was facing an unfamiliar person, but this made her feel that something happened to Riya.
The usual Riya would hold back a bit more and try to save the other party’s face. This would usually cause an argument to last longer until the point where it would consume one’s patience.
This time…
Riya was directly impatient.
“I’m annoyed,” Riya replied slowly.
Thinking of her own reply to Valeria, Riya realized that Amelia was right. In the past, she did help Amelia when the latter was facing Valeria. But her help has always been small.
After all, Riya has never been a nosy person who would be willing to sacrifice her own future for the sake of other people.
But when facing Valeria today…
No, not just today.
In fact, after coming from that world and experienced so many things, Riya knew that she was changing. The actual changes might not be very visible on the outside, but it was her attitude and way of doing things that changed.
Before she come here, she was already a magician at certain rank. This might had affected her in the way of her to assess situation and thought of other people.
Riya no longer thought of herself as an ordinary person.
But as a magician, who was very different form ordinary people.
It was because of this way of thinking that Riya let go of her scruples and didn’t think too much about the effect that would happen to her future. While in truth, her status in this modern world had never changed and still the same.
This would be a hidden danger.
Riya took a deep breath and looked at Amelia with a faint smile. “You’re right, I should be more patient when dealing with them even if I’m more annoyed. I seem to be a bit more temperamental lately.”
In that magic world, it has always been killing or to be killed.
For many places, the law was not strict and a magician had various of ways to kill a person without leaving any evidence. It was even to the point of decomposing the bodies, destroying the other party’s soul, and completely annihilate their existence to the point that no one knew that he existed.
That kind of method existed.
In the rather lawless world, the way of doing things was different. They had to be tough when dealing with people because if they were soft, it would be the same as telling others that it was fine to take advantage of you.

And being so vulnerable like that… could cost their life.
Riya felt glad that she was reminded before she was far down this road. It seemed that even if she was actually a few years older, there were still many things that she had to learn as a magician and also a person who lived in this era.
Because she had to adapt. If she couldn’t act normal and kept on using her magic, there would be time when they would find out about tit. In a normal modern world, Riya could never expose her magic.
Without her noticing, her magic base was rising slowly during the time she pondered this matter.
