Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 61
Chapter 61: Confrontation
Riya might be a bit of introvert, but she was not completely stupid. She still understood basic interaction between people and how much her action would be considered as normal.
She would need to mix the waste with the stone that contained the jade along with the evaluation why she picked them.
It was too troublesome.
“Tsk, I’m the one who wanted to dig her to work in my company first. If Little Riya ever want to enter business, she had to consider me first!” Amelia immediately protested. She would never allow Riya be taken by others without her knowing.
Sophia looked at Amelia contemptuously. “Are you her mother or something?”
“I’m her sister!”
“…I’m an only child.”
“Sworn sister!”
Riya: “…” When did we become sworn sister? I never made such promise with you!
While Riya was complaining in her heart and looked helpless, Sophia brought them to the side so as not to bother the others who were interested in buying and cutting stone.
Riya’s luck just now seemed to have induced their shopping desire as the number of people buying the stone increased.
They wanted to try their luck.
Who knew there would be someone who would be so lucky. That meant there might be more valuable stones here!
Sophia snorted. “Forget about her. Amelia didn’t even know anything about business aside from latching onto her brother’s thigh and let him work all day long.”
Amelia looked at Sophia coldly. “Are you implying that you know more? From what I know, you’re not much different from me, Sophia.”
There seemed to be sparks in front of the two of them.
They might be best friends but they would also bicker with each other from time to time. Moreover, the background of these two girls were similar and it was evident that they had a lot of things to talk in common or quarrel in common.
Riya was speechless and rubbed her forehead. “I haven’t though much about my employment problem. Also, stop trying to open the backdoor from me. I don’t even think that I’ll be qualified for either of your company.”
Both Jones and Carson corporation were placed at very high ranking. Looking at those high ranked listed company, she was very sure that there were a lot of people who knew the two names that was among the top 100 in the Continent Z.
She was not exactly an outstanding graduate.
Even if she might be able to graduate with cum laude* based on her past result, Riya knew that the competitiveness of the workplace was very big. Applying to hundreds of company and not even one might reply.
It was very frustrating.
But what can a fresh graduate do?
Just keep on trying while praying that someone would eventually pay attention to her and willing to give her a chance to enter the company.
She might be in that group, but Riya was not close to Sophia and the others. The only reason why she was inside that group was because Amelia dragged her inside.
“Alright.” Sophia nodded and no longer paid attention to this as there was a message in her phone. She frowned. “I need to go. Do you two still want to stay here?”
“Yes! Little Riya, help me to pick a good stone for me!”
Riya and Sophia looked at Amelia speechlessly. Which word from Riya when she said that she was only lucky that Amelia didn’t understand?
Not wanting to entangle with this matter, Sophia hurried out.
Amelia was about to pester Riya again when she heard a cold voice calling from behind.

“Mel, don’t be so impolite to others.”
This voice…
Turning around, Amelia saw her older brother coming inside and showed an ugly smile. She felt that her brother always came at the wrong time. “Brother.”
Samuel nodded at Riya and swept his gaze across the hall. At this moment, his eyes landed on Peter and his eyebrows furrowed. “Peter.”
Peter also sensed someone staring at him. The moment he saw Samuel, his laidback expression tightened and there was a coldness within his eyes. “Samuel.”

Sora’s Corner: University Graduate Pedigree
Cum laude: it’s latin language meaning “with honor”. In some university in various countries, it needed the cumulative GPA of 3.5 out of 4 and above. There were also two other pedigrees above it but the requirement usually depends on the university.
There were also some other specific requirement for some university such as never repeating class and etc. But in short, it was not that easy to obtain this pedigree unless you worked hard. 🙂
(I took this reference from my university where I learned years ago and hearing of some other university that also used this method, but I didn’t mention the specific requirement since each university can be different.
