Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 86
Chapter 86: The Base
It should be feasible.
Riya thought to herself that if she went to the crack and used her formation to harvest these magic beasts’ bodies, she would be able to accumulate more mana in her world. Through the mana accumulation, she would be able to make mana stone and then formed Advance Mana Gathering Formation.
This formation would make her practice more than 10 times faster than her normal times. And if the materials were better, such as the mana stone, it could even be much more.
Above the advance formation was the master formation but normally only rank 4 or above magician could make it.
Since Riya used to be higher than rank 4, she could technically replicate it.
But the mana consumption and her control over the formation would not be perfect because it was a bit too much for her current rank.
‘Let’s try it later.’
Riya made up her mind and looked at the people around her.
But for now… she had to think of an excuse to leave.
“Amelia, Sean, you two go back,” Samuel gave order when he saw his younger sister and brother were quarreling at the backline.
He felt that these two came at the wrong time. With their strength, it was fine to deal with one or two magic beast. But if they were asked to deal with a group of magic beast, they would be nothing more than cannon fodder.
He couldn’t possibly let his younger sister and brother died, so Samuel gave this order.
“But Brother…”
“Let’s go back.” Sean pulled Amelia’s hand. “You know how stubborn Samuel can be and it might be dangerous to keep being here.”
“But…”
Boom!
Hearing the explosion at the front, they guessed that these soldiers started to use grenade to kill these magic beasts and decided that it would be better to return to Amelia’s house. Moreover, they hadn’t sorted the supplies that they brought and put in Amelia’s house courtyard.
“Alright.”
They turned around and then Amelia asked, “Sean, why are there so many soldiers here?”
“Brother cooperated with people from martial arts association and they also cooperated with the military for some reasons. When the earthquake happened, they were setting up a base nearby and now they asked to turn this entire area into a base for people to live,” Sean explained.
Riya and Ruby also listened and looked around them.
This area was an area designated for the rich people with a lot of mansions and beautiful scenery. There were many people here and looking at the back, there were some apartments built on the other side. It seemed that it was going to be used for the people who came here in the future.
There were also many other construction ongoing but the location was somewhat empty at this time.
These people were dragged to the frontline to help shoot these magic beasts.
So the construction work was halted.
“Why build a base?” Amelia was confused. She had seen that wall construction but she didn’t understand why they wanted to build a base. And this area was indeed quite large but it was not enough to accommodate everyone in City A.
After all, the population in City A reached millions.
Though, it was estimated that the number had decreased sharply after the earthquake and the appearance of these magic beasts.
“Because the earthquake happened all over Green Planet,” Sean replied seriously. “Do you remember that mist incident before?”
Amelia nodded.

The mist caused her to be unable to leave the dormitory and Amelia would never forget that time. After her brother came to pick her up, she was basically ordered to practice and that nearly made her want to vomit blood.
How could one train so much?
She was not such a self disciplined person.
“Right, Samuel said that the mist is worldwide phenomenon, which attracted a lot of scientists’ attention. They said that even in the areas that had never appeared mist also had those and affected many people’s lives,” Amelia replied.
That mist could be said to be the beginning where many people died because they were caught unprepared. Some people survived after exposure of the mist because the medical personnel managed to find the cure. But the cure was not effective for everyone because many people still died.
“Speaking of scientists…” Amelia turned to look at Ruby.
Ruby nodded. “Yes, I was one of the assistants for the research. The mist disappeared after some time and couldn’t be contained by ordinary containment, so some people worked to make better equipments. I was only responsible for researching the virus itself.”
“And the result?”
“The vaccine is almost ready and the cure is already spread all over the world,” Ruby replied calmly.
She was still a student, so she couldn’t work there all the time. But she still knew that the vaccine was being developed and it would take some time before it was ready. Once it was ready, it would be distributed so that people would not be affected anymore.
At least, that was the original plan.
With the current situation, it was highly impossible that these vaccine would be released because the earthquake had destroyed many roads and facilities. Transporting them wouldn’t be easy.
“Yes,” Sean said and then added, “Samuel said that the mist is composed of mana, which is why it’s impossible to contain in ordinary materials. The best material to contain them is only to condense them into mana stone or to use jade and store the mana inside. But both methods required techniques that even he didn’t know.”
Huh? He didn’t know?
Riya’s eyes flashed strangely.
The methods to make mana stone was very easy and Riya could do it easily. In fact, this was one of the methods for her to earn her own resources to make formation.
Otherwise, buying mana stones would be very expensive and Riya would have to trade many of her works to buy it, which was not cost effective.
