Runemaster in the Last Days - Chapter 94
Chapter 94: Explanation
Samuel looked at his father and nodded.
“I have said before that these beasts are called magic beasts. While their appearance might be similar to various animals here, but their size and colors are very different. These beasts have mana mixed into their body, which caused this change.”
As Samuel spoke, he turned to look at Amelia.
Among the people in his family, Amelia was the only one who had never heard his explanation before because she was not in his family’s house. He would have to explain everything over or simply handed the task over to his younger brother.
But he definitely wouldn’t go over and explain everything from the start again right now.
Amelia nodded at Samuel’s words. She had already heard about the term magic beasts from Riya. Though, Riya didn’t explain about the magic beasts itself and Amelia made her own inference after seeing these magic beasts and fought against them.
“The magic beasts you have seen so far are all unranked magic beasts.” Samuel’s expression turned solemn when he mentioned this. “Unranked magic beasts only become slightly stronger compared to ordinary animals and their size become a bit bigger or have some changes depending on their races and the mutation caused by mana.”
Hearing this, the others frowned.
Unranked?
For some reasons, they had a bad feeling when they heard Samuel’s words.
“You’re all already reached rank 1 in your training, so you can technically fight against these unranked magic beasts,” Samuel said slowly.
Thanks to him asking them to practice in the past few months, his family had reached rank 1 and the most talented one among them, had reached mid rank 1. For him personally, this speed was very slow. But in the environment in this Green Planet, there was basically not much that Samuel could hope for.
“I have a feeling you’ll say but, Brother,” Sean said with pained expression.
Samuel rolled his eyes at his brother’s words and continued, “But the ranked magic beasts have already started to appear. The one magic beast that look far bigger is the ranked magic beast. Based on the strength and the mana energy, which can also be seen through the magic core, this is a rank 1 magic beast.”
“Wait, what is magic core?”
“Magic core is the core of mana inside a magic beasts,” Samuel replied. “Humans have mana heart, where we accumulate mana and used it to store our mana. Magic beasts store theirs in their magic core. The terms are different but the function is quite similar.”
There were actually a few differences between them, but Samuel had no interest to go deep into biology lessons to explain about this. Besides, he was sure that most of them would have long forgotten about their lesson from many years ago.
Rather than burdening them with these complicated terms and explanation, it would be better to let them think that the function was quite similar.
When thing stabilized and the knowledge about the magic cores and so on started to spread, it was not too late for him to tell them the details.
“So unranked magic beasts didn’t have any magic core?” Amelia asked again just to make sure.
“Yes.”
“How much powerful is a rank 1 magic beast compared to an unranked magic beast?”
“At least twice as strong,” Samuel replied. “How strong these rank 1 magic beasts would depend on their own specific ranking, which can be categorized to low, middle, and high. After that, it would enter rank 2. In order to determine their strength, I have asked the martial arts’ association to hasten making the identification device.”
Identification device?
“Something like a scanner?” Amelia asked, trying to imagine how that identification device would look like.
“Yes.”
“That’s interesting.” Amelia’s eyes lit up.
Samuel seemed to have guessed what his sister was thinking as he added, “You’re not allowed to use it for playing. In the beginning, only some people from the association will be able to receive the device.”
Amelia immediately wilted like plants in the winter. She looked at Sean aggrievedly, hoping he would help her.
However, Sean instead looked away.

He didn’t dare to offend his older brother either.
This scene made Amelia want to roll her eyes. Be it her older brother or her younger brother, the two of them were really annoying.
“I’ll show you the handbook after it has been compiled. Before that, the most important thing is for you to train.” Samuel looked at Amelia once again.
The laziest person in his family was definitely his younger sister.
“Why are you looking in my direction continuously?” Amelia wailed. “I don’t want to train all the time!”
“You have to get used to it.” Samuel rolled his eyes, not accepting the refusal from his sister.
“Tyrant Brother!” Amelia complained in a low voice.
“Do you want your training to double, Amelia?”
“Ahhh, no! No! Don’t!”
Sean looked at his older sister with the look of ‘Are you stupid?’
He felt that his sister sometimes like to seek death by challenging Samuel’s patience over and over again. Of course, he himself would stay far away and try not to associate with Amelia.
He didn’t want to be punished together.
Samuel shook his head and ignored Amelia’s gesture that was making trouble. He looked around and then asked, “I heard that Riya is coming with you. Has she moved to other places?”
When he came back, he asked the butler about Amelia’s friend’s arrangement and knew that Riya had lunch together with Amelia and the others.
She should have been here, but why can’t he see her at all?
Amelia looked at her brother strangely. She swore that she only mentioned about her older brother asking about RIya as a joke because she didn’t think that her brother would care too much about her friends.
Perhaps it might be because Riya spent some time in this mansion and Samuel didn’t like it?
The last time Sean brought back his friend, that fired was kicked out by Samuel.
“She left the base, Brother.”
“What?”
