Chapter 1431: Where’s the key?
“Are you ready?” I looked at Joan who was standing behind me as I asked this.

Joan just gave a small nod, but it was quite big since she was a big wyvern in the first place.

I didn’t say anything as I patted her claw that was on the ground and then turned back to look forward at the entrance of the ruins.

The moment that the Mark of God appeared on Joan’s forehead, there was a change that occurred with the Holy Empire group. Many of them had looks of worship in their eyes as they looked at the Mark of God.

But Joan just ignored all of them as she focused on gathering that divine energy inside of her mouth.

After gathering it for a while, she released it all in a breath of flames.

These flames poured into the entrance of the ruins and soon flooded into the ruins.

This was the same thing that she did with the last ruins that held the Relic of Destruction.

Joan released these flames for a bit before she finally stopped breathing out flames.

When the flames disappeared, there was a figure that came out of the flames.

Though to say they came out of the flames wasn’t really correct since they had been there before the flames were released. They had been standing there in the first place when Joan released the flames.

When that person came out, they pointed in a certain direction.

Once that direction was pointed out, there was no hesitation from the group that had been waiting at the entrance of the ruins. They immediately ran off in that direction with the person that had come out of the flames.

I didn’t follow them as I just stood there with Joan, watching them disappear into the ruins.

It didn’t take long before a message was sent back.

This was one of the special communication devices made from magic materials that the Holy Empire had brought along. It was something that had a price that was hard to imagine, but the Holy Empire had brought it with them.

That just went to show how powerful the Holy Empire was.

Once they received the message, I gave another nod to Joan.

She didn’t hesitate to release another breath of flames into the entrance of the ruins.

After these flames poured into the dungeon for a bit, she stopped once more and there was silence that followed.

None of us said a single thing as we waited for something.

This came in the form of a message from the special communication device.

“Again.”

That was all that was said, but that was enough for us.

Joan once again released her flames, but I was no longer standing with her.

After all, there was no need for me to be there anymore now that we had confirmed that this worked.

I hadn’t been certain that this idea would work, but now they had confirmed that it did work. Since it worked, then all that was left to do was wait for them to find the thing that we were looking for.

The flames that Joan released were filled with divine energy, which naturally seeked out the destruction energy that was its natural nemesis. As such, it was the best way to guide us to where the Relic of Destruction was sealed.

But as night came…

“That’s enough, we’re stopping for today. Make sure that they mark down everything.”

There was no resistance to this order at all, it even seemed like they had been hoping that I would give this order sooner.

After all, the way that the ones from the Holy Empire looked at Joan had completely changed. The way that they looked at Joan was as if they were looking at some kind of holy beast.

Though the fact that she had the Mark of God on her forehead…

In a sense, it could be said that she was some kind of holy beast that received the recognition of the gods.

The Mark of God was something that could only be given to those that were chosen by the gods themselves.

Since they looked at Joan as some kind of holy beast, they naturally wanted to take care of her as well.

They didn’t have any fear towards her and made sure that she received all of the best food. It really seemed like they had demoted themselves to her servants with the way that they acted.

Though I didn’t say anything.

If they were willing to do this, there was nothing bad about it.

Though in terms of letting Joan continue until now, I knew what she was capable of and that she would be angry if I were to stop her before that.

After a night of rest, we continued the same thing.

It was only at noon that we received the news that they had found it.

Well, they weren’t actually certain what it was, but it was something that was like what we had found previously.

It was a door that had a lock on it and it was just the lock we found previously.

The group that went to explore the ruins had someone that had gone into the ruins with us previously, so I could trust what they were saying.

As such, I went down into the ruins myself to see the door that they found.

When I arrived, I knew that they were right.

This was the exact same door that we had found previously and there was even the exact same lock.

The only problem now was that we just didn’t have the key for that door.

The key for the previous door had only been obtained by chance and it wasn’t as if there would be another trap with the key waiting at the center for us.

So where exactly was that key?

Or the better question now was…how were we supposed to open up this door and get to the Relic of Destruction?
