Chapter 1448: Entering the ruins
With Aisha leading the way, it didn’t take long for us to arrive at our destination.
The moment that I saw the entrance to this place, I immediately thought…
“It’s just like the ruins that seal the Relics of Destruction.”
In fact, it was so similar that it even seemed like I was in front of one of those ruins.
But I knew that this wasn’t the case since the gods had never mentioned this place to me…
Aisha had been silently standing behind me watching my reaction to this, but seeing that I didn’t say anything…
Finally, Aisha couldn’t help asking, “Well? What do you think? Is there something here?”
I slowly turned and shook my head.
Even though the entrance to the ruins seemed similar, it wasn’t as if I could tell that there was a Relic of Destruction sealed in this place that easily. Even with the Mark of God that the gods gave me, this place was just too far for me to tell if there was any corruption energy here.
“Then do we go in?” Aisha asked.
I couldn’t help knitting my brows when I heard this, but I didn’t say anything in response.
Instead, I just turned to look at the entrance to the ruins with this look of deep thought on my face.
I couldn’t make up my mind on what to do here.
What she was suggesting was an idea that I had been thinking about, but it wasn’t as if it would be that simple to find anything in here. There was no telling just how big these ruins were and how long it would take to find anything.
If we were to enter the ruins now, there was no telling if we would even be able to make it back to the manor before the sun rose.
If we weren’t there when they came looking for us tomorrow morning…
Well, it wouldn’t be hard to guess what would happen and that would not be a good thing.
As such, I had to think carefully about this.
But in the end, I gave a slow nod of agreement.
Even if there was no telling just how big these ruins were and if we would be able to find anything, I couldn’t just leave now that I was here. If I left without even looking inside, it would be too much of a waste.
If I took a look, at the very least I would be able to have an idea of what was down here.
That would help in planning what to do next.
After seeing this nod from me, Aisha came forward as if she wanted to take the lead in exploring these ruins. However, I raised my hand before she could actually move past me.
I looked at her with a stern look and said, “I should be the one in front.”
There was a trace of surprise that appeared on Aisha’s face, but she eventually gave a nod of agreement.
Like this, we headed into the ruins.
It was already dark outside since the sun had already set and now we were heading underground, so it was only natural to expect there to be no lights in this place at all.
But I was surprised to find that this wasn’t the case.
This place was actually quite well lit so that we could see everything that was in this place. It was just that there was this strange green hue to this light that seemed to dye everything in this place a faint green.
This was light that seemed to come from the walls themselves.

Only when I looked at the walls closely, I could see that it was coming from something that coated the walls. It was a layer of something that seemed to be releasing light from it.
“It’s moss.” Aisha suddenly said while I was still looking at the wall in front of me.
I turned to look at her with a surprised look before turning back to look at the wall again.
Looking closely, I was able to tell that it was moss just like she had said.
It was a kind of fluorescent moss that was growing on the wall that was releasing this faint light. However, since there was enough moss that covered all of the walls around us, this faint light was enough to light up everything.
Even in front of us, we could see that this moss was everywhere.
It was as if almost everything in these ruins was covered in this layer of moss.
Only that didn’t really seem to make sense.
How could there be all this moss in this place?
If these ruins were what we thought they were, then there shouldn’t be any kind of plants that were growing in this place. This place should have been made so that not a single thing would be able to enter this place, let alone moss.
Not to mention that the corruption energy would certainly kill anything that would be able to grow in this place.
So did that mean that there wasn’t what we thought was here since there was this moss growing in this place?
I didn’t let myself be swayed and continued down the hallway in front of us, but the further that we went, the more that it seemed that this was the truth. After all, there was no end to the moss that was growing in this place.
“Are there just no guards?” That was the second thing that I had to question.
We had been moving slowly this entire time since we wanted to make sure that there weren’t any guards in this place. After all, it didn’t seem likely that the elves would leave these ruins completely unguarded.
But that was what it seemed to be as there wasn’t a single trace of a guard in this place.
It seemed that this place was just completely abandoned.
“Is this place really not what it seems to be?” I had to ask myself this.
