Chapter 1462: A hard talk
After meeting with the High Priestess and Vivrum, the rest of the day was spent with the Elven King.

With the way that he stuck to me, it was as if he suspected something.

It was just that he didn’t have any proof and couldn’t make any accusations without said proof or else he would make things worse for himself.

So the only thing that the Elven King could do was stick close by to make sure that nothing else happened.

Even when it was night time, it really seemed like he wanted to stay at the manor that we were staying in. It seemed like he wanted to keep surveilling us for as long as he could.

It was just that he couldn’t actually do that or he would be crossing a line.

So the only thing that could be done was leave things to the maids that had been deployed to the manor.

But even if the maids were here, it wasn’t as if they were strong enough to break through the spells of Aisha. Aisha was the strongest high elf that was equal to a sage, if she didn’t want them hearing anything, then they wouldn’t hear anything.

At the same time, they weren’t even able to follow her as she snuck into my room the same way as before.

“What is it?” Aisha asked me right after she jumped in through my window.

Though she said this right after jumping in, I could tell that there was mana that was stirred around us. It was clear that she had put up some kind of barrier that would protect us while we spoke.

The walls had ears in this place after all.

I didn’t say anything when she asked me this.

It wasn’t that I didn’t know what to say, it was just that it was hard for me to actually say it out loud.

This was something that would without a doubt bring up a trauma from the past for her, so it was hard to talk to her about this.

But the more that Aisha saw me act this way, the more that she glared at me.

The way that she glared was almost as if she could already guess what I wanted to talk to her about.

At this point, the more that I hesitated, the worse that I was making this for myself.

So in the end, I took a deep breath and said, “What do you think of the current Elven Kingdom?”

A surprised look appeared on her face to my surprise as well.

I thought that she had already guessed what I wanted to talk about, so I didn’t expect her to reveal this kind of expression. But it seemed like she hadn’t actually guessed what I wanted to say.

There was a tense silence that lingered in the air after I asked this.

But in the end, Aisha asked with one brow raised, “Why are you asking this?”

I looked at her with an expressionless look for a bit before slowly saying, “No particular reason.”

Once again, she narrowed her eyes to look at me and there was another awkward silence that filled the air.

It really seemed like she wasn’t happy with the answer that I gave, but it wasn’t as if I could say anything else. I had to at least scope out what she thought before I brought up the rest of this conversation.

There was even a part of me that was complaining about Vivrum and the High Priestess since they dumped this matter onto me.

It was a good thing that Aisha couldn’t read thoughts like Vivrum could.

Eventually, Aisha finally said in a slow voice, “There’s nothing that I really think about this place. Rather, I prefer to think about this place as little as possible.”

I couldn’t help slightly knitting my brows when I heard this.

After all, it seemed that the trauma that had been inflicted on her by the Elven Kingdom still ran deep. So for me to bring up what I wanted to bring up, it did seem a bit heartless…

Only I had to say it…

Aisha had looked down and been silent after she said this, but then she suddenly looked up at me with a strange look.

After a while, she said, “Just say what you have to say already. This really doesn’t suit you.”

A trace of a bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard this, but I slowly gave a nod before saying, “But at the very least, this should be your home since it’s the home of all the elves, right?”

It was Aisha’s turn to reveal a bitter smile this time.

She didn’t answer right away as she looked at me with this bitter smile, but then she said, “I don’t really feel any attachment to the other elves.”

“Then at least it’s the place where the Tree of Life is, right?”

This time, it seemed that Aisha had a different reaction.

Even if she didn’t feel any attachment to the elves, it seemed that there was something different about Vivrum. Even though she had been treated that way by the elves, it didn’t seem like that changed the way that she felt about Vivrum.

That had been evident when we met her in the ruins last time.

It was clear that Vivrum held a dear place in her heart.

Only after a while did Aisha slowly give a nod.

It was true, it seemed that at the very least, she still had Vivrum in her heart.

Then that should make it easier for me.

After all, this was an oracle from Vivrum and she was even going to personally take action.

That should be enough to move Aisha into going along with us for this plan.

“How do you feel about becoming the ruler of the Elven Kingdom?” I suddenly asked.

There was a very strange look that appeared on Aisha’s face when she heard this before she asked, “Are you serious?”
