Chapter 1516: Magic ruins (16)
I didn’t get to say anything as I was back to where I had been previously.
It didn’t even seem like any time passed with the way that I was standing there with one hand pointed at the statue.
I couldn’t help looking closely at the statue once I came back to my senses, but it didn’t seem like there was anything that changed with it.
So in the end, I turned to look at the head teacher to say, “Did anything happen?”
The head teacher seemed surprised by this question and slowly shook his head before saying, “No, nothing happened at all. Why are you asking this?”
I didn’t answer as I had no idea what he had seen and what he knew.
But it seemed that he hadn’t even seen the flash of light that came from the statue earlier that pulled me into that space. It seemed like I was the only one that had seen that flash of light.
I was about to say something else, but there was a sound that interrupted me before I could.
“Crack.”
Both of us immediately turned back to look at the source of this sound.
It was coming from the statue, there was a crack that suddenly appeared in the middle of it. However, that crack continued to grow on the statue until it split the entire statue in half.
It seemed like this crack wasn’t going to stop expanding with the way that it started to split off into different branches.
In no time at all, there was a spider web of cracks that formed on this statue.
Then before either of us could do a single thing, the statue itself suddenly shattered into pieces. Though after that, the pieces just seemed to disappear as if it was scattering on the wind.
The pieces just crushed themselves until there wasn’t a single thing left of the statue.
Neither of us could say anything as we watched this happen and even after the statue disappeared, there wasn’t anything that we could do.
“What happened?” The head teacher asked after a long silence.
I looked at him and could see the slight trace of accusation that was in his eyes, but I just shook my head to show that I didn’t know.
Even if he asked me, it wasn’t as if I knew what happened.
Or at least I wasn’t certain.
I at least had some clues as to what the reason behind the statue shattering was, but I certainly wouldn’t tell him since it was related to what happened after I injected my mana into the statue.
It wasn’t as if I could tell him about meeting the God of Creation.
Seeing that I didn’t say anything, the head teacher finally asked, “Did something happen?”
He didn’t even specify what he meant by this, it was clear that he was accusing me of something happening between the time that I injected my mana into the statue and the statue shattering like this.
I looked right back at him with a calm and collected look on my face before saying, “I really don’t know what happened.”
There was a tense silence that filled the air as we looked at each other like this.
But in the end, he just slowly gave a nod.
It didn’t matter if he believed me or not since that wouldn’t actually solve the issue at hand.
So right now, it was more important to figure out what to do now that the statue had disappeared.

The head teacher turned back to look at where the statue was before he released his mana. With my mana sense, I could tell that the way that he released this mana was like a wave.
It was like he was using some kind of echolocation technique, but with mana as he used his mana to scan this area.
But in the end, there was a bitter look that appeared on his face as if he couldn’t find anything. It seemed like there wasn’t a single trace that was left behind after the statue shattered like this.
As for me, I looked at where the statue was and gathered my thoughts.
“It should be because it had fulfilled its purpose that it self destructed like this…”
That was what I thought, but of course I couldn’t say it out loud.
In the end, the head teacher just muttered to himself, “How am I going to explain this?”
It was clear that he was saying this out loud so that I would hear him. It was clear that he was saying this so that I would feel pity for him if I knew anything. It was clear that he was still trying to test me by saying these words like this.
But I didn’t bite the bait.
After a long silence, the head teacher said with a sigh, “Let’s head back then.”
I gave a nod, but I also said, “Is there anything else that you want me to help you with in these ruins?”
A bitter smile immediately appeared on the head teacher’s face when he heard this and he looked at me as if he was asking if I was serious.
I just calmly said, “What might have happened is that this statue was a trigger for something in these ruins. In that case, wouldn’t you need my mana for whatever it triggered in the ruins?”
The head teacher slightly knitted his brows as if he was considering this before slowly giving a nod. But then he shook his head as he said with a smile, “Your majesty, how could we risk your life like this? If this did happen, there’s no doubt that there would be some kind of danger associated with it. You’re the guest of our Sorcery Empire, so how could we put you at risk like this? We’ll search by ourselves and request your help if we find anything.”
This was clearly his way of saying that he didn’t want me involved in this matter and I didn’t push.
After all, this was just a distraction.
At least they would have some way of distracting themselves for now and not blame everything on me.
Though if they didn’t find anything, there was no doubt that they would come looking for me again.
