Chapter 1518: Sage Council (1)

“That is the report on what happened inside of the ruins.” The head teacher said with a solemn look on his face while also bowing his head.

Though he had this serious look on his face, he couldn’t help peeking up in the end.

After all, the ones that were sitting in front of him were the great sages of the Sorcery Empire.

They were the ones that unified and represented the Sorcery Empire.

Since this was a matter that involved one of the biggest secrets of the Sorcery Empire, it was only natural that they would all gather here like this. At the same time, it seemed that many of them were interested in something other than the ruins.

It seemed that they were interested in the other matter that was being discussed.

After a long silence, one of the sages suddenly slammed his fist down on the table and said, “We should just grab him and make him confess what happened. Even if his lips are tight, I’m sure that a few spells will make him talk.”

“Grey Sage, do you really think that is the best idea?”

The Grey Sage narrowed his eyes to look at the one that refuted him before saying with a snort, “Of course you would speak up for him since you’re so close to him. I’m sure that you’re all buddy buddy with him now and you don’t care about our Sorcery Empire anymore.”

The Azure Sage that was accused of this didn’t panic at all as he calmly looked right back at the Grey Sage.

When the Grey Sage was done, the Azure Sage said, “What happens if he really doesn’t know anything. At that point, all you’ve done is created an international incident. We’re currently in a sensitive period of time, this isn’t something that can be handled rashly.”

There were sages that nodded in agreement and there were sages that shook their heads to reject this.

It was actually an even number of sages on both sides in the end even though there was an uneven number of sages in the first place.

That was all because there were sages that chose to remain neutral as well.

So it wasn’t as if there was a majority or even a minority on either side.

It seemed that most of the sages were waiting to see how this matter played out.

But in the end, since most of the sages showed that they wanted to remain neutral, it meant that the Grey Sage wasn’t able to push this issue.

Instead, the Grey Sage had no choice but to move onto the next issue, “Then what do we do about the ruins now? Now that that statue is gone, is there even anything that’s worth exploring down there?”

The head teacher had to bring something up at this point, “Just like King Zwein raised, there might be the chance that the destruction of this statue could mean the trigger of something else in the ruins.”

The Grey Sage immediately narrowed his eyes to look at the head teacher which made the head teacher look down right away.

But the Azure Sage said with a nod, “This certainly is a possibility that we can’t ignore just because of personal feelings.”

At the end of his words, he looked at the Grey Sage as if he was accusing him of something.

The Grey Sage gave a snort and turned his head away, but at least he didn’t refute what the Azure Sage was saying.

That was because the Azure Sage was right.

This was definitely a possibility, which was why even now, there were groups that were scouring the entire ruins.

However, the ruins were large and there was no telling what they were looking for.

So even if they sent people in, it wasn’t as if it would be that easy to find something.

At the same time, they hadn’t fully explored the ruins yet. So it wasn’t as if they could just send people in without any fear since it could be dangerous.

That was why they believed that it was possible that it might have triggered something that they didn’t know about.

Still, it seemed like the Grey Sage wanted to complain about something with the look that was on his face.

Even if they were magicians, the sages were still scholars at their core and arguing about stuff like this was something that was deeply embedded into them. Even if they didn’t have anything that they were discussing, they would still argue with each other.

It was only when they didn’t argue and remained silent like this that it was a real problem.

After all, the fact that they remained silent meant that they didn’t know what to discuss.

Even if they wanted to argue, there wasn’t anything that they could actually say.

“It doesn’t matter if the statue was destroyed. We had no idea what that thing was in the first place, so it was just wishful thinking that something would happen with his help. We’re the ones that asked for his help, so it isn’t as if we should hold it against him that this happened. Not to mention that we could still use his help in the future.”

As soon as this voice rang out, all of the sages turned in the direction of this person.

That was because this person had a special status, even among the sages.

This person could be considered the sage above all other sages, which was why he was the White Sage.

The one that knew all forms of magic and the one that had the pure and dense mana that was just like the mana that Zwein wielded.

He was the strongest sage and the greatest card of the Sorcery Empire, which is why he’s someone that even the other sages had to be wary of.

But it wasn’t just this reason that they were wary of him.

It was because they had suffered at his hands before…
