Chapter 111: Killing the Root Golem
“Tch, as expected. Such a small amount of energy barely has any effect.” Anya clicked her tongue as she landed gracefully.

Anya then directly spun her hands, summoning two whips as she used her [Foxfire Flame] skill. The red flames crackled as she lashed them towards the Golem’s legs, intending to topple the giant.

The whips coiled around the Golem’s thick limbs, but the creature reacted with surprising speed. Using its skill [Root Bind], it sent a network of roots up the whips, trying to reach Anya’s hands. She released the whips just in time and leapt to a nearby tree branch.

The Golem let out a guttural laugh, a sound that rumbled through the forest. With a wave of its massive arm, it used its skill [Nature’s Surge], summoning a torrent of thorny vines to lash at Anya.

Anya gritted her teeth as she noticed the laugh while dodging the incoming vines. The sheer number of them made it nearly impossible for her to counterattack. “Fine, Let’s see how you handle this, you overgrown weed!”

She immediately used her full strength since from before she merely tested the waters as she wanted to know what kind of tricks the Golem had because Cain didn’t inform her about the golem’s information at all.

Anya vanished in a blur of motion, her speed now overwhelming. She reappeared behind the Golem, her hand blazing with a massive [Foxfire Explosion] as she used one fifth of her strength.

She slammed it into the creature’s back, creating a deafening blast. Shards of bark and burning roots flew everywhere, and the Golem staggered forward.

The Golem roared in pain and fury. It retaliated as it used its [Verdant Maelstrom] skill, spinning its massive arms to create a vortex of roots and debris. The whirlwind sucked in everything around it, including Anya.

Caught in the maelstrom, Anya crossed her arms in front of her face, creating a solid Shield to protect herself from the flying shards. The shield held, but the force of the maelstrom flung her into a tree.

She hit the tree hard, but the damage was minimal as a trickle of blood could be seen at the corner of her lip.

“Not bad,” Anya muttered, wiping the blood from her lip. “It seems that I need to up the game a little bit more.”

The Golem was surprised that Anya wasn’t hurt as much as it expected. It then immediately became serious as it roared, and used one of its strongest skills [Forest Rebirth].

The ground split open, and massive trees erupted from it, their roots intertwining to form a living barrier around the field. Inside the barrier, Golem’s wounds began to heal as the forest lent it strength.

“Oh no, you don’t!” Anya growled. She dashed forward, her speed a blur to the naked eye. Using her [Advanced Foxfire] skill, she conjured two flaming swords and began slicing through the roots with surgical precision. Each strike sent flames pouring over the battlefield.

The Golem tried to counter with its [Thorn Barrage] skill, launching hundreds of sharp, poisoned thorns in her direction. Anya weaved through them effortlessly, her speed was extremely fast. She closed the distance between them, slashing at the Golem’s chest with her flaming swords.

The Golem roared in pain, swiping at her with its massive arm. Anya ducked under the blow, flipping over its outstretched limb, and landed on its shoulder. She planted both hands on its head and unleashed a concentrated [Foxfire Explosion], using half of her energy left.

The blast tore through the Golem’s bark-like armor, exposing the glowing green core in its chest.

The Golem staggered, its core flickering. Realizing its vulnerability, it then immediately activated its most desperate skill [Wrath of the Forest]. The ground shook violently as countless roots, vines, and branches erupted in a chaotic frenzy. The entire field was now a deathtrap.

Anya didn’t flinch. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and activated her second tail’s power. Her stats triplet, and her fiery aura transformed into a blazing inferno. The heat alone began to scorch the surrounding forest, and the vines shriveled as they approached her.

With a roar, Anya charged forward, dodging and slicing through the onslaught of roots. She created a massive spear as she used her [Foxfire Flame] skill, the weapon glowing with intense energy.

The Golem raised its arms to defend itself, but Anya was too fast. She leapt into the air, her fiery spear aimed directly at its exposed core.

“Let’s end it now!” she shouted, driving the spear forward with all her might.

The spear pierced the core, and the Golem let out a deafening roar. Its body shook uncontrollably as the flames spread from the core, consuming it from the inside out. The light in its emerald eyes faded, and the massive creature collapsed to the ground, its body disintegrating into ash and embers.

Anya landed gracefully, her tails flicking behind her as she surveyed the battlefield. The clearing was scorched and silent, the once-mighty Golem reduced to nothing.

She exhaled, letting her fiery aura fade. “That was tougher than I expected,” she murmured, brushing ash off her shoulder.

As Nix neared Anya’s location, Cain raised his hand, signaling him to halt. Without hesitation, Cain channeled a significant portion of his energy to unleash his [Ice Storm] skill.

A chilling tempest erupted around the battlefield, rapidly cooling the area.

Cain’s intention was clear—to make the surroundings safer for the normal people within his group who might otherwise struggle with the oppressive heat from earlier battles.

Anya, sensing Cain’s intent, quickly created a thin barrier of flames around herself. The mystical shield shimmered faintly, keeping the biting cold of the storm at bay and ensuring her footing remained stable amidst the icy winds.

Once the storm had subsided, Cain surveyed the area, nodding in satisfaction at the cooled atmosphere. Confident it was now safe, he signaled Nix to descend. Nix landed softly near Anya, who stood waiting with a warm smile, her tails gently swaying behind her.

“WOW! Big Sis Anya is super strong. That big tree before was so scary but she can kill it with ease.” Ayla shouted as she ran towards Anya the moment she landed on the ground.

“Big Sis Anya, how can you become strong immediately and kill it when you were a little bit struggling before?” Sylvia also ran towards her, following behind Ayla who had ran a few meters away ahead of her.

Cain smiled and let the little girls bother Anya for a while since he wanted to upgrade Nix’s rank while waiting for the notifications from the system.

However, right before he ordered the system to upgrade Nix’s rank, he set aside his thoughts about upgrading Nix’s rank as he heard the notifications and was curious about the progress as well as the rewards.
