Chapter 114: Killing the Vine Serpent
The serpent hissed in fury as the vortex burned its scales and vines. It then countered by using its skill [Thorbind Coil], sending an array of thorny vines as it intended to ensnare Fenix.
Fenix used his [Fireblade Technique], engulfing his sword in blazing fire, and with a single swing, he severed the vines and sent waves of fire cascading towards the serpent.
The serpent flinched, its damaged scales steaming from the heat. It slithered rapidly across the battlefield, using its skill [Serpentine Speed] to outmaneuver Fenix.
Closing the distance, it lashed out with its tail, empowered by its [Tail Slap] skill. The ground cracked under the force of the attack, sending Fenix flying into a nearby tree.
Boom!
Fenix groaned as he pushed himself up. “Not bad,” he admitted while brushing ash off his shoulder.
“But it seems that I need to get a little bit serious.” Fenix grinned before charging forward.
Their clashes became faster and more furious, with Fenix’s sword striking against the serpent’s reinforced vines. The serpent tried to entangle him again with its [Snaring Vines] skill as vines burst from the ground to trap him.
Fenix countered with a powerful attack as he used his [Burning Slash] skill, cutting through the bindings and leaping toward the serpent. The battle raged on, both combatants trading blows, their energy reserves dwindling with each exchange.
Realizing brute force wasn’t enough, the serpent began channeling its [Venomous Tempest] skill, conjuring a swirling storm of toxic spores and razor-sharp thorns.
The air grew heavy with the deadly mist, forcing Fenix to step back and shield himself with his flames.
“Running out of tricks, are we?” Fenix taunted, though his breathing had become haggard. He used his [Ashstorm Surge] again, the fiery vortex pushing back the venomous storm.
As the serpent lunged for a final attack, Fenix saw his opportunity. Channeling his remaining energy, he used his [Ember Veins] skill to its maximum, boosting his strength and speed beyond their limits. His body burned with fiery veins, and his Flareblade glowed red-hot.
He dodged the serpent’s strike and closed the distance in a flash. With a thunderous roar, he unleashed [Ashstorm Surge] and [Flareblade Technique] skills simultaneously, creating a devastating inferno around the serpent.
The serpent writhed in agony, its body engulfed in flames. Desperate, it used its [Flourish Renewal], a last-ditch effort to heal itself by absorbing the energy from the surrounding vegetation. Trees and vines withered as the serpent’s wounds began to close.
But Fenix wasn’t about to let it recover. He raised his sword high, creating the full power of his [Burning Slash] skill. The blade emitted a blinding light as flames surged around it.
“Let’s end this now!” Fenix roared, bringing the sword down with all his might. The fiery crescent-moon-shaped sword energy cleaved through the serpent’s body, severing it in two. The flames consumed the remains, leaving nothing but charred earth and ash.
Fenix stood amidst the scorched battlefield, his breathing becoming a little bit unstable as he had almost gone all out just now.
“That was fun. It’s been a while since I’ve finally used my strength properly.” He muttered, wiping blood from his cheek.
Ayla’s eyes lit up brightly as she thought that Fenix’s battle with the snake was really amazing and thought that it would be great if she could become as strong as him.
“Tch, come here!” Cain clicked his tongue as he watched the serpent’s body that had become ashes and found it such a hassle to cool down the surroundings as he also didn’t need to go there.
The moment Fenix jumped onto Nix’s back, Cain heard the notifications from the system and immediately checked it as he was curious about the rewards this time.
[Ding! Fenix has killed the High-level Conqueror Rank Beast.]

‘Hehehe.’ Cain grinned widely as he thought that he didn’t need to hunt anymore because he already had enough Evolution Points for him to upgrade Nix’s rank until King Rank.

However, despite the fact that he had enough Evolution Points, he still needed to upgrade Nix’s qualifications first.
He even considered contracting a new beast, so after this, he made up his mind to buy the wolf cub at the auction or another beast if one piqued his attention.
But before that, he decided to stop by at a place that was famous for its wine in this world, even the wine that he ‘received’ from Old Feng before was from this place, and that wine was only one of the many finest wines in that place.
“Uncle Fenix, please teach me how to become as strong as you!” Ayla immediately jumped onto Fenix and started to pester Fenix since her desire to become stronger was still as strong as before.
“Didn’t you call me a scammer before? Now you’re begging me for help?” Fenix chuckled and ignored Ayla as his image had finally been restored to its place.
“How about you, Sylvia? Want me to teach you how to grow stronger?” Fenix glanced and teased Ayla by offering Sylvia instead of her.
However, Fenix hadn’t expected that Sylvia rejected him blatantly, as she didn’t have the thoughts of becoming stronger yet because being reunited with her older sister was already more than enough for the current her.
“No, I’m happy just being with Big Sis Elara. That’s enough for me.” Sylvia rejected as she hugged Elara beside her and shook her head.
“AHHH… Why her? Teach me instead!” Ayla bit Fenix’s body a few times cutely as she was pissed that Fenix offered Sylvia instead of her, who begged him for it.
Cain only shook his head helplessly watching Ayla’s behavior before he instructed Nix to head south since, coincidentally, the place where he wanted to go wasn’t far from the mountain range.
