Chapter 123: Fenix Takes on Two Peak Conquerors at Once (1)
But Fenix was ready. With a burst of agility, he twisted out of the way and countered with a devastating upward slash. His Flareblade, now burning brighter than ever, carved through Velran’s defenses, leaving a deep gash across the old man’s torso.
Velran staggered back, clutching his wound. Blood mixed with water as it dripped onto the ground. “Impossible…” he muttered, his strength waning.
Fenix saw his chance and pressed the attack. He dashed forward, his movements a blur, and activated [Burning Slash] one last time. His blade ignited in an inferno of fiery destruction as he brought it down on Velran with all his might.
Velran raised his trident in a desperate attempt to block, but the force of Fenix’s strike shattered the weapon, the flames consuming Velran entirely. The old man let out a final cry as his body was engulfed, reduced to ash in the overwhelming heat.
Fenix stood over the remnants of his opponent, his chest heaving from exertion. The battlefield was silent, the air thick with steam and the lingering scent of charred earth.
Fenix turned to the onlookers, his blade resting once more on his shoulder. “Who’s next?” he called out, his voice calm but laced with menace.
He then took a vial from his spatial bracelet and directly gulped it down at once as he intended to recover his energy.
The gathered warriors exchanged uneasy glances, the confidence they had moments ago now replaced with doubt. Cain smirked from the sidelines, clearly entertained. “Well done, Fenix,” he muttered under his breath.
Draven, still watching, clenched his fists. “He’s stronger than we thought,” he admitted.
Lucan’s protector narrowed his eyes. “This isn’t over yet,” he said coldly. “Prepare the next fighter.”
He then added, “This time, send two people at once.”
As Fenix confronted them alone, the situation in Cain’s group was quite different since Ayla had been excited the entire time as she enjoyed the fight and thought that Fenix was only killing the bad guys who were going to hurt them.
“Big Brother Cain, can I become as strong as Uncle Fenix?” Ayla asked innocently as she put her fingers on her chin while sitting on Cain’s lap.
“Of course. Why are you so eager to become stronger?” Cain replied as he ruffled her small head with a smile.
“I want to become as strong as Uncle Fenix so that no one will be able to hurt me and my brother.” Ayla clenched her fist with a serious but cute expression.
“Hahaha… I told you to not worry about anything as long as I’m with you because I will protect you to the best of my ability.” Cain laughed, pinching her cheek playfully.
When Elion heard the conversation between his little sister and Cain, he clenched his fists tightly since he felt like a failure as an older brother.
He then became determined to become stronger and decided to tell Cain about this decision because even if he died in trying to become stronger as Cain had warned, he already felt relieved as he had confirmed that Ayla would be safe and live happily with Cain and the others by her side.
“By the way, is Uncle Fenix going to be alright? They seem to have a lot of people.” Sylvia tugged on Cain’s clothes with a worried expression.
“Don’t worry about it, he will be fine.” Cain answered with a smile, reassuring her and the others since they showed different kinds of emotion as they guessed that they were in a dire situation because they have more strong people.
Hearing Cain’s response, everyone felt more relieved even though they still felt a little bit uneasy in their hearts.
Looking at two people coming at him at once made his expression become a little bit more solemn as he thought that this fight was going to be harder.
However, Fenix quickly dismissed his thoughts as Cain had assigned him with this mission, which should’ve been easier than the other mission given to someone else.
Fenix then unsheathed his other blade as he had to be more serious because this time, there were two people attacking him at once.
Standing at the center of the battlefield, Fenix stood confidently as his eyes narrowed, observing the two figures who approached him slowly but surely with each of them having a unique aura on their own.
One exuded the energy of the wind, the air around him seemed to be synchronizing with every step he took. While the other one, exuded the firm unwavering presence as if he was the earth himself that wouldn’t be shaken with anything in his path. Both were the opposites, yet equally dangerous.
Fenix’s grip tightened around his blades as he thought the best way to fight them while preserving his energy as much as he could.
He heightened his sense to a higher level as this fight would be quite a challenge than his usual fight.
Though, he wasn’t that worried that he had to fight two people at once because this wasn’t his first time in his entire life since he had even fought more people by himself before.
Falmon, the middle-aged man who controls the wind, decided to be the first to strike.

With a flick of his hand, a gale formed around him. The wind swirling into a vortex of sharp blades of air.
As Fenix felt the danger of Falmon’s attack, he then reacted by dashing forward as his body moved faster than the eye could track. Since he heightened his senses, he could feel the press of the wind against him, sharp like a blade.
Falmon responded as he moved gracefully with his body becoming one with the gusts, shifting through the air with a fluidity that seemed almost unnatural.
The first strike collided with a blade of air that sliced through the space between them. Fenix raised his blade high, parrying the attack with ease as his energy crackled along the edge of this sword.
Sparks were made from the clash, but Fenix had no time to enjoy it since Falmon followed up with a rapid blast of wind blades, each one stronger than the last.
Fenix immediately dodged as he weaved in between the slashes of wind. His agility and reaction was amazing as he avoided each strong gust with calculated precision.
The wind blades were relentless, constantly shifting and changing direction, making it harder for him to dodge.
Just as Fenix was about to land a counterattack, a tremor shook the ground beneath his feet.
From behind, the earth awakener named Terragor, unleashed his attack. He raised his massive hands, and the earth itself responded. The ground cracked and shifted, sending spiked rocks shooting upwards.
Fenix leaped to the side, narrowly avoiding the spike of stone that shot towards him.
However, Terragor wasn’t done yet as he roared while slamming his fists into the earth. The ground trembled violently, forming a massive stone fist that shot towards Fenix.
The air itself seemed to vibrate with the power of the earth-based attack as Fenix barely had time to react. His senses screamed at him to move and in an instant, he was airborne with his body leaping higher than ever before, propelled by his immense strength and agility.
The stone fist collided with the ground where Fenix had just been, creating a shockwave that rippled across the battlefield. The blast sent a cloud of dust into the air, obscuring the vision of both parties.
Falmon took advantage of the momentary distraction as he threw a burst of compressed air towards Fenix, aiming to knock him out of the air with a powerful gust of wind.
Fenix, who was in mid-air with little room to maneuver, finally used his other sword since he had been using one hand this entire time.
With a flick of his wrist, he slashed downward as he used his skill [Flareblade Technique], and energy of flames streaked through the air.
The wind attack collided with the fiery slash, exploding in a burst of sparks and fire.
Boom!
The explosion pushed Fenix back, but he managed to regain control as he landed on the ground with a roll that absorbed the impact.
Both Falmon and Terragor were closing in on him together, each utilizing their respective elements to their advantage.
Falmon, who moved like a wind, had already closed the distance with his body that was almost invisible as he moved like a blur of air.
Meanwhile, Terragor was slowly charging at Fenix as the ground beneath him trembled with each step since he summoned more and more power from the earth.
Fenix grinned since he hadn’t felt this sensation for a long time, the adrenaline pumping through his veins with the excitement that coursed through his body.
He then remembered his real life experience from before that the key to winning a fight with this situation would be in reading their patterns and exploiting their weaknesses.
The wind Awakener was fast, but his power had limits. While the earth Awakener’s strength was tied to the ground, which could be manipulated if he was clever enough.
As Terragor stomped forward and sent waves of spiky debris in all directions, Fenix slid to the side as he used his agility to avoid the falling rubble.
Fenix then swung his sword as he used [Burning Slash] Skill, sending a crescent-moon shaped fire energy towards Falmon, who had been circling around Fenix while waiting for an opening to attack him.
Falmon immediately created a wall of wind that deflected the incoming attack with a whoosh of air.
However, even though the flames dispersed, the force of the attack still caused Falmon to stumble backward slightly.
Noticing enough openings, Fenix dashed forward and attacked with a series of rapid, precise slashes at Falmon.
