Chapter 203: Killing the War Horses
Inside their inferno fortress, the War Horses sensed the dual approach. United, they funneled their combined magic into one final offensive. Pulsing waves of flame and vine-laden bark coalesced into a swirling mass of raw power.
The very air seemed to vibrate from the pressure. Then, with a fearsome neigh, they unleashed it [Pyroflora Cataclysm].
A massive torrent of blazing vines erupted outward, each tendril coated in flames and tipped with barbed spines. The vines snaked toward Little White and Frostfang, roaring across the distance in a serpentine wave of deadly energy. The ground was scorched black beneath the onslaught, the stench of burning earth saturating the air.
Little White braced himself. Summoning [Light Barrier], he blocked the nearest vine, but the monstrous attack hammered the barrier with such force that cracks appeared immediately.
Before it shattered, Frostfang intervened. Positioning himself behind Little White, he unleashed [Midnight Glacier] skill, summoning a massive ice block in front of them. The scorching vine battered into the double-layered defense, barrier plus ice, and an explosion ensued, flinging the wolves apart.
Despite the combined effort, both wolves were thrown off their feet. Frostfang landed roughly, tumbling across the battered field. Little White crashed into a patch of seared grass, letting out a pained yelp. They were bruised and gasping, but far from defeated.
The War Horses pressed their advantage. The Fire War Horse galloped out of the inferno, leaving behind a blazing trail that blackened the land, while the Wood War Horse charged in tandem, vines wrapping around its comrade’s hind legs, seeming to push it forward with sudden, explosive acceleration.
Snorting in defiance, Frostfang steadied his stance, ignoring the throbbing ache in his ribs. He charged as well, frost gathering at his maw.
Meanwhile, Little White channeled every ounce of his stamina into a final [Silver Eclipse]. His body crackled with silver brilliance, and his speed soared as he darted across the field.
When the two pairs collided, the impact shook the entire grassland. Flames, vines, ice, and moonlight intermingled in a tempest of raw power. The Fire War Horse tried to burn through Frostfang’s last-ditch ice barrier, while the Wood War Horse grappled with Little White’s relentless claw strikes. The air flared with rapid bursts of heat and freezing blasts, each side hurling everything they had left.
In the chaos, the synergy of the War Horses faltered anew. The intense flurry of attacks from opposite angles was too much to juggle.
Sensing that short window of vulnerability, Little White and Frostfang exchanged a final mental signal: Now!
Little White leapt high, channeling [Lunar Slash] from above, forming a powerful crescent of silvery energy that cut down at the Wood War Horse’s unguarded back.
At the same instant, Frostfang lunged low, creating frigid spikes with his [Arctic Spire] skill, impaling the Fire War Horse’s front legs and freezing them in place.
A keening whinny tore from the beasts as the final blow landed. The Wood War Horse collapsed under the force of the lunar crescent, the bark armor along its spine shattered into splinters.
Meanwhile, the Fire War Horse, pinned by Frostfang’s ice, kicked feebly at the ground. Frostfang ended it swiftly, biting deep into its neck with a savage twist.
And just like that, the synergy the War Horses had boasted was snuffed out. Their bodies lay motionless in the once-vibrant field, flames dying away to flickers as fresh ashes dusted the charred grass.
A hush fell, and the sun sank lower, painting the horizon in pinks and oranges reminiscent of the fierce struggle that had taken place.
Little White, breathing raggedly, limped toward Frostfang, who had dropped the Fire War Horse’s neck from his jaws. Both beasts were battered, bleeding from multiple wounds, but they stood victorious.
The warmth of shared triumph passed between them as they locked gazes in a silent recognition that they had forged a new bond in the heat of this afternoon’s brutal clash.
Though far from flawless, their newly tested teamwork had been proven. They had conquered formidable opponents through synergy that, while still rough, showcased powerful potential for future battles.
Cain and Veyron, who watched from a distance, exchanged looks of approval. They had guided them here, certain that the harsh crucible of trial by fire and ice would refine their beasts’ connection.
On this day, as the final whinnies of the War Horses faded into silence, the grassland bore witness to the evolution of a partnership between two wolves who had learned to fight as one. And with that victory, the sun dipped below the horizon, acknowledging their success.

“Alright, it’s time to leave now.” Cain said as he waved his hand and immediately went towards his kingdom.
…
After they arrived in his mansion, Ayla and Sylvia instantly ran at Cain and clung on his body like two koalas as they missed him and his contracted beasts.
Cain then explained to the little girls that they couldn’t play with Nix for a while since Nix was hurt when he fought before, causing the little girls to be worried since they hadn’t expected that Nix would be hurt to the point that Cain didn’t let them play with him.
“Is Nix okay?” Sylvia asked with a worried expression, as she was extremely close to Nix and very fond of him. Naturally, she would be sad and worried when she heard it.
Ayla also looked at Cain, blinking her eyes as she wanted to know about it too.
“It’s okay, it’s nothing serious but he just needs some rest.” Cain patted their heads softly before putting them down and greeted the others.
Finally, when his gaze landed on Elara, Cain said with a playful smile. “Elara, it’s time for me to help you become stronger.”
“Mhhm-Mhhm!” Elara nodded her head shyly as she lowered her head.
