Chapter 62: Accept the Bet
“I accept the bet,” Yuchen declared confidently, a smug smile tugging at her lips. “Now, tell me the details, and we’ll inspect everything thoroughly. Don’t forget to prepare the refining technique you promised to wager.”
Cain’s smile widened as she agreed. The favor and full-day date he’d requested were now in the bag, seemingly without much effort.
Even Though the favor from Yuchen might not appear significant on the surface, if he utilized it properly, he would be able to gain something, as she was basically everyone’s sweetheart in her family or even the entire Starlight Auction House.
As for the date, well, he just came up on the spot, and he didn’t mind at all, considering Yuchen was a stunning beauty on par with Elara, Anya, and Lyra.
“Since you’ve agreed, don’t regret it later,” Cain smirked before explaining his background to them.
After listening to Cain’s nonsense about his background, Old Feng and Yuchen became overjoyed.
In their minds, the refining technique was as good as theirs. Wasting no time, they summoned someone to verify the technique’s authenticity.
“While we wait for the inspection results, let’s move on to the main business,” Old Feng said as he stroked his beard softly.
“To clarify, since the bet involves the refining technique and the outcome is still uncertain, we’ll proceed with negotiations as if the bet doesn’t exist.
If you win, we’ll finalize the deals immediately. Naturally, if we win, there won’t be any deal at all.” Old Feng explained and paused for a second before continuing,
“However, you need to know that it would be natural for us to not make a deal if we won the bet, right?”
Cain chuckled lightly “Naturally, but let’s cut to the chase since you wouldn’t win this bet anyway.”
After a quite long negotiation, Cain and Old Feng finally made the final deals in case Cain won the bet.
They agreed that the distribution rights outside the Low-level World were held by the auction house.
This meant Cain couldn’t sell the technique freely; all sales outside his world would go through the auction house.
Even though it looked like Cain was at a huge loss here, Cain didn’t care about it too much since he thought that if he got the refining technique of Dominator Rank from the lottery, he believed the system’s lottery would eventually reward him with superior techniques in the future sooner or later.
Moreover, limiting the distribution rights minimized risks. Cain wasn’t yet powerful enough to fend off the myriad dangers that would arise if his technique gained too much attention.
Because even if he could sell it and gain huge reputations for his kingdom, he would’ve also faced the countless unknown troubles that would surely come at him since his force wasn’t strong enough to deter any other big forces from getting the refining techniques for themselves.
Let alone the fact that the Main World was crueler than this Low-level World, with forces being destroyed everyday and new forces striving to survive and grow stronger.
Even if Cain summoned a powerful character in the future, he wouldn’t take a high risk unless he had the confidence that he could at least defend his kingdom safely.
Even so, Cain had demanded more in return. Seizing the opportunity that Old Feng and Yuchen were still ecstatic as they thought that the deal wouldn’t happen in the first place, resulting in them agreeing with his demand.
Needless to say, his demand was also within their acceptable scope since if it was too much, they wouldn’t accept it too.
His demand was for the auction house to provide alchemists to him as he thought it would be too much for him to overwork Fenix since Fenix was his only subordinate who was an alchemist.
Of course, Cain wasn’t stupid enough to just let the alchemists know about the refining techniques.
That’s why he demanded that the alchemists work for him for an indefinite amount of time without going back to work for them, as he wanted to ‘imprison’ them for an amount of time and tame them before giving them the freedom they deserve.
Because if he didn’t tame them properly, they might even leak the refining techniques, so Cain needed to be extra careful in doing things, even if it meant using an unorthodox method.
“Now that the negotiations are done, where are the alchemy materials I asked for?” Cain inquired with a smile.
“Give me a moment,” Old Feng said as he took out the white jade token and contacted someone.
After waiting for a minute or so, a middle-aged man in his late 50s who had reached the Peak-level King Rank Awakener walked inside the room and handed a spatial ring respectfully to Old Feng before going out of the room.
Old Feng tossed the ring to Cain with a smile. “Here are the materials you requested.”

Cain caught the ring and handed it to Fenix, instructing him to check the materials to see if there was something missing or wrong with them.
“There are no problems with the materials.” Fenix informed after he checked them thoroughly for a few seconds.
Cain nodded at Fenix before glancing back at Old Feng and asking. “How much for these materials?”
Old Feng chuckled while smiling widely as if he was in a really good mood. “There’s no need to pay for these materials, it’s all on the house.”
Old Feng thought that since he would get the refining technique from Cain for free, he might as well give something in return.
Cain only laughed in response before remembering his main objective coming in here and asked the old man.
“Old Feng, about the Ice Dragon blood essence—can you hand it over now? Also, can I pay for it later, perhaps by tomorrow before the auction begins?”
“This… It’s not that I doubt you or something, but even the higher-ups said that you need to pay in advance, and the amount should be twice the amount of the usual auction price.
However, you don’t need to worry because if the final price in the auction is lower than the amount you give, we’ll refund the difference after the auction.” Old Feng explained with an awkward smile.
