Chapter 83: The Unseen Disaster Draws Near
One of the main reasons the clan head chose Old Kong for the task was his unwavering loyalty to the family. Despite his wild and brash personality, Old Kong was always willing to sacrifice everything to protect them.
“Old Kong, the situation isn’t as dire as you think,” The clan head smiled, reassuring the old man.
He then added, “In fact, this might even be an opportunity for our family to free ourselves from reliance on the Palace of Celestial Light.”
Old Kong’s eyes lit up when he heard it as he was surprised that instead of trouble coming in their way, an opportunity came to them.
The old man then impatiently urged the clan head to explain about it.
After listening carefully to the explanation, the old man nodded and asked with a smile, “What’s your plan now?”
The old man asked, knowing that the clan head must have thought about this and come up with a plan.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have summoned him since he wasn’t that smart and cunning to be involved in making plans for something this important.
“We’re hosting a major auction in a few months, correct? Let’s use it as a pretext for you to personally oversee things. We’ll expand the list of items and move the event to Emberport City. That way, you can monitor Yuchen and Cain closely.” The clan head suggested as he looked at Old Kong with a smile.
The clan head thought that by doing so, there would be Old Kong, who could monitor Yuchen and Cain’s movement and provide support in case Cain needed their help.
He thought that since Cain decided to hide his identity, he would need someone to help him do things as he didn’t want to be exposed by using their own power.
The clan head and Old Kong then talked about it further, as this matter might change their future to be independent and not relying on the Palace of Celestial Light anymore.
Because even though their faction was the subordinate of one of the strongest factions, their relationship was actually more of like someone who provided a huge sum of money to be able to operate and be ‘protected’ by them.
…
Inside a hall, a middle-aged man dressed in white sat on a throne and looked at the young man in front of him and an old man in a white robe with gray hair and beard.
“Draven, remember that this mission is really important not only for our family but for yourself too. So, don’t mess around and do things carefully.” The middle-aged man reminded the young man with a serious expression.
“I understand. My mission is to observe and report everything we find in that Low-Level World. I also have to enter the secret realm, so no one will suspect our presence there.”
The young man repeated his mission, indicating that he remembered his mission very well.
The middle-aged man nodded when he saw that his son seemed to remember his mission and wouldn’t mess around.
He then looked at the old man beside the young man and said, “Old Yan, please look after him and remind him strictly in case he would mess around.”
The old man cupped his hands and bowed, reassuring the middle-aged man as he said, “Don’t worry, patriarch. I’ve been watching him grow up since he was a newborn baby, so it’s natural for me to remind the young master if he was about to do something that would ruin the mission.”
“Good, I’m counting on you both to give valuable information before the team arrives. It’s crucial that the main branch sees us in a favorable light.” The middle-aged man said.
After chatting a little bit more, the young man and the old man immediately set off, and only after they had gone for a while did the middle-aged man wave his hand.
A man in a black robe appeared instantly and kneeled before the middle-aged man. “What are your orders, sir?”
The middle-aged man said plainly, “Send your strongest man in the Peak-level Conqueror Rank to follow the two of them and report to me every once in a while.”
The man in black only nodded before disappearing into thin air.
…
“Long time no see.” Cain greeted with a smile as he stepped inside.
Old Feng laughed and greeted with a bow, “Sir, there’s no need for you to come in person. A word from you, and we would have delivered the items.
“Old Feng, do you dislike me that much since you don’t want to see me?” Cain chuckled, teasing Old Feng.

Old Feng immediately shuddered and bowed deeply, “No, I don’t mean it that way, Sir–”
Before Old Feng continued further, Cain laughed and waved his hand, “Hahaha, I was just joking, Old Feng. I know what you meant.”
Cain then continued, “I’m here to buy alchemy materials again and a few treasures that might be a little bit hard to find. Here’s the list of the materials and the treasures that I want to buy.”
Cain tossed a scroll of paper filled with the list of the materials at Old Feng.
When the old man reviewed the list of the treasures that Cain wanted to buy, he was surprised to find that the highest rank of the treasures that Cain was looking for was only at the Grandlord Rank.
He thought that it would be an extremely rare treasure in the Main World or something.
Old Feng then explained, “Coincidentally, we have the Snowveil Essence in stock since it was supposed to be auctioned tomorrow. As for the other three treasures, I will confirm it with someone in charge right away.”
The old man then took the token and contacted the branch manager of this place and found that only Frigid Star Bead was available.
However, the branch manager told them that he had information about the Frozen Spirit Leaf; it was said that one of the big families in the Velmara Kingdom had it.
Old Feng then ordered the branch manager to get the item with everything possible, even if it would resort to violence, and do it as soon as possible.
Subsequently, Old Feng contacted the other branch managers and asked around to see if someone had Frozen Dewberry, a Lord Rank treasure, or at least knew the whereabouts of it.
After asking around for a while, Old Feng finally sighed in relief as he was contacted by a branch manager from a place in the north, and he said that he had the Frozen Dewberry and would immediately send the treasure by himself.
While waiting around, Cain was bored and asked, “Old Feng, do you have more of that wine? Where did you get it?”
When Old Feng heard it, he took out a few jars of the same wine as before. “These are yours, Sir. I bought them from the Verdant Blossom Hall.”
“Thanks for the wine and the information.” Cain put the wines into his inventory, leaving only one jar of wine, and opened it himself.
However, before he poured the wine for himself, Yuchen immediately came to him and helped him by pouring it for him.
