Chapter 88: Cain’s Past
Feeling satisfied that his experience had reached 100%, Cain immediately hopped onto Nix’s back and instructed him to go back to the inn as he wanted to end the day.

On the way there, Cain checked on Fenix and found that he had already refined Nix’s evolution pill as he was sleeping soundly while there was a space ring and note that said ‘Evolution Pill’.

Cain then moved the space ring into the inventory and let Fenix sleep however much he wanted.

He also checked on Dante and found that he was still struggling with refining his blood, so he just ignored Dante since he couldn’t do anything about it.

“Big Brother Cain, over here!” Ayla waved his hand and made a gesture for him to sit beside her as she tapped the seat on her left.

Cain smiled and waved back as he walked towards the table by the window.

“Little girl, aren’t you eating too much?” Cain asked as he pinched Ayla’s cheek.

“Hehe.” Ayla giggled in response.

Cain then flagged down a waiter and ordered all the best food that Ayla and Elion had eaten, as there were dozens of empty plates on the table.

Shortly after, the waitress that served Cain the first time he was here with Fenix came while bringing the food that Cain had ordered.

“Sir, it’s a pleasure to see you again.” The waitress bowed as she couldn’t express her gratitude before because Cain immediately went inside his room after he gave her a huge tip.

“Likewise.” Cain responded with a smile.

“Go ahead, eat as much as you like. I know you’re still hungry.” Cain said to Ayla and Elion.

Ayla immediately ate the food on the table as if she was afraid that she wouldn’t be left with any food if she didn’t act quickly.

While Cain, Ayla, and Elion were eating while chatting happily, Cain’s body shivered when he watched what Ayla did.

Ayla picked up a shrimp and waved it at Elion, speaking excitedly as she moved her body left and right. “Brother, look! My shrimp is bigger than yours!”

This scene was what made his body shiver because this was exactly what his dead little brother did to him a week before an accident that took not only his little brother but his entire family’s life.

He really remembered this scene since that dinner was the last dinner he had with his family.

A week after that dinner, when he was on a business trip, he suddenly got a call from a hospital in the city where he lived that their family got into a car crash.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t save any of his family.

His dad, mom, and little brother died because of the accident.

While his dad and mom were instantly pronounced dead on the scene, his little brother miraculously survived and was brought to the hospital before he died because he lost too much blood and couldn’t get the treatment immediately after the accident.

However, when he was informed of his little brother’s last words from the doctor, he felt that the world immediately crumbled before him.

The doctor informed him that the moment his little brother woke up after he was unconscious from the crash accident, he immediately looked after him.

“Brother Jake, where are you? Jack is scared.”

These were his little brother’s last words before he was unconscious again and was announced dead.

The reason his little brother immediately looked after him was probably because he was the closest to his little brother, as he doted on his little brother too much.

Not only that, he was also probably the closest person to his little brother since the person who spent the most time with him was him.

Because he spent most of his free time with him and his parents were mostly working, even his mom started to work again after his little brother was more than two years old.

He then asked the witness why the car accident happened in the first place and found out that apparently a car crashed into his family’s car.

After investigating the accident further, he found that the one who caused all of this was a man in his early 20s who was on drugs.

The thing that enraged him the most was that the young man who crashed into his family survived and didn’t suffer much.

He then went to a court to sue the man, using the evidence from the hospital that the man was on drugs and was the one who caused the accident that took his entire family’s lives.

However, strangely enough, the judge decided that the evidence was invalid and not strong enough before dismissing the case.

This made him become enraged as he guessed that the judge should’ve been bribed.

After that, he investigated further and found that the man was the son of one of the higher-ups in the government.

He then went to the hospital and found that even the doctor that gave him the statement that the man was on drugs had also been bribed, as he turned his back on him and said that the man wasn’t on drugs.

Frustrated but undeterred, Jake sought the help of a hacker friend to retrieve CCTV footage of the accident as concrete evidence.

Yet, even with this, his case was dismissed again.

This harsh reality hit him hard at that time.

Realizing that legal means would lead nowhere, Jake made a desperate decision.

He asked his hacker friend to find a hitman, determined to take justice into his own hands.

When his friend heard it, he was surprised and thought that Jake (Cain) had gone insane.

“Jake, you might regret this for the rest of your life,” he warned.

But Jake’s resolve was unshakable. His clenched fists and steely gaze left no room for doubt.

With his friend’s reluctant help, Jake began to plan, ensuring he had an airtight alibi and would be seen publicly when the assassination took place.
