Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress - Chapter 103
Chapter 103: Night Chat
Although Jamal had been feeling sleepy when he responded to Abigail’s text, the moment the new message came in, every trace of sleep disappeared from his system and he sat up.
Why would Ryan do that? Was he a pervert? Had he been grooming Dawn all these years for himself? But that made no sense. Why would he do that when he made her seem like his biological daughter?
But then again, the public didn’t know about her as his daughter, Jamal reminded himself.
So, what was it? Was that the reason he wanted to give everything back to her and Josh? He wanted to make her his lover? This was all so sick it made him want to throw up. L
Jamal rose from his bed as he typed on his phone.
> Jamal: Are you okay? Did he touch you?
> Abigail: I don’t know if I’m fine. I’m just so shocked. I was scared and at the same time I was upset. My body is trembling. He didn’t touch me but I think he was going to. I’ve locked my door. But I still feel so uneasy. I don’t want to imagine what would have happened had your message not come in.
Jamal’s grip tightened around his phone as he read her message. His jaw clenched, and anger burned in his chest.
> Jamal: I’m coming.
Abigail’s breath hitched as she read his text. She quickly typed back.
> Abigail: No! You can’t. It’s too risky.
> Jamal: I don’t care. I’m just going to come and make sure you’re alright.
> Abigail: I just need to calm down. I’ll be fine. I don’t want you getting into trouble and I don’t want us to complicate things.
Jamal exhaled, pacing the floor of his room. He wanted to storm over there, to drag Ryan out by his collar and make sure he never laid a hand or even a thought on Abigail again. But he knew she was right. If he acted recklessly now, it could ruin everything even before they started.
> Jamal: Fine. But if he shows up again or tries anything funny, call me immediately.
Abigail swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded, even though he couldn’t see her.
> Abigail: I will.
> Jamal: Do you want to go back to sleep now?
> Abigail: I don’t think I can go back to sleep just yet. Let’s talk about something else. I need to distract myself a little right now so I can be calm.
Jamal sighed deeply. As much as he liked Josh, he really wished the kid wasn’t in the picture and he could just take her away from all this.
Wasn’t there a way he could convince her to leave first and wait for them to get Josh away from Ryan? He mused as he paced his room and tried to figure out the reason Ryan would do that.
> Jamal: So, are you going to tell me why you were upset now?
> Abigail: You both were talking for too long. And she was dressed in her sleeping robe. I just didn’t like it. It reminded me of all the times she seduced my boyfriends in the past.
The moment Abigail sent that, she winced as she remembered that Jamal wasn’t her first boyfriend, whereas she was his first girlfriend.
Jamal on the other hand frowned as he read her message. Forgetting everything else she said, he focused on the part that was most important to him.
> Jamal: Boyfriends? Just how many guys did you date?
Abigail bit her lip to keep from laughing.
> Abigail: I suddenly feel sleepy now.
She attached a yawning emoji to the message.
Jamal chuckled.

> Jamal: You can answer my question before going to bed.
> Abigail: I lost my memory, remember? I don’t even remember them. They’re in my past. They don’t count. You should applaud me that despite having boyfriends you’re the first guy I kissed.
Jamal chuckled as he read her message and then shook his head.
> Jamal: Well, it doesn’t matter either way. You’re my wife.
Abigail grinned as she read the message and typed a response.
> Abigail: Hmm.
> Jamal: What? You don’t want to marry me?
> Abigail: I’m just thinking. If our families are as connected as you say through marriage, what will that make us? I mean you said your uncle is married to my father’s granddaughter, and Lucy, your Mom’s cousin, is married to my father’s grandson, right?
Jamal massaged his temple as the many connections gave him a headache.
> Jamal: It will make us man and wife. I don’t care about anything else.
Abigail giggled silently.
> Jamal: That reminds me, how did it go with Josh and Ryan?
> Abigail: Josh handled himself perfectly. So, what did you think about Josh? How did you both meet at the airport?
They continued texting for a while, both trying to get their minds off Ryan’s unwelcome visit.
After a while Abigail decided to let Jamal go to bed since she knew he was most likely exhausted and would need to drive Genevieve around the next day.
> Abigail: I want to go back to bed now.
She texted, knowing that if she asked him to go back to sleep he wouldn’t want to do that because he was concerned about her.
> Jamal: Alright. Leave your door locked. Also, you don’t have to ever be upset about me talking to Genevieve. I only have eyes for you. I’m not one of those jerks you made the mistake of dating in the past. I’m Jamal, and my heart belongs to only one person, and that’s always going to be you.
Abigail’s heart fluttered at his words and she smiled.
> Abigail: I’ll try to always remember that. Though it’s not you I’m worried about. It’s Genevieve I’m worried about.
> Jamal: She can’t make me do something I don’t want to do. Besides, she was only asking about Stefan. She likes him.
> Abigail: As long as she keeps her eyes off you, I don’t care who she likes.
Jamal chuckled.
> Jamal: I guess I have myself a possessive wife.
> Abigail: Goodnight.
As Abigail set her phone down, the anxiety returned. The air in her room became heavy again. She pulled the blanket up to her chest and curled into herself.
Ryan had not only been in her room. He had sat on her bed.
What if Jamal’s text hadn’t come in at that exact moment?
Abigail squeezed her eyes shut, willing herself to push the thought away. She needed to focus on the fact that she was safe. Her door was locked. Ryan was gone.
And Jamal was just a call away.
She inhaled deeply, trying to slow her racing heart. But even as she closed her eyes and willed herself to sleep, the feeling of Ryan’s presence still lingered, making her skin crawl.
She hoped, really hoped for Ryan’s sake that he wasn’t sexually interested in her, else she was going to kill the disgusting animal with her bare hands if he ever touched her.
