Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress - Chapter 112
Chapter 112: Baby
After eating Mari returned to her bedroom and she resumed her pacing as she tried to figure out what to do now while rubbing her eyes.
Seeing how they had ignored her and let her be in the living room all by herself, she was smart enough to know it was because they had made sure she couldn’t escape.
What exactly did they want from her? What did Jax want from her? He seemed to be the one keeping her.
Venita had said her father was responsible for their father’s death. Did he want to murder her father? Goosebumps rose on her skin at that thought.
But if that was what he wanted why did he have to kidnap her when he could just go for it? Perhaps he wanted to frustrate her father first? She sighed deeply.
It seemed her thoughts kept going round and round in circles and she kept coming back to the same conclusion. She needed answers.
But what she needed more than answers right now was a solution for her irritated eyes, Mari thought as she stopped in front of the floor to ceiling mirror and looked at her reflection.
Her eyes were red, dry and itchy.
She needed to take off the lens, but she didn’t have her glasses with her, and she was pretty much blind without them.
She couldn’t afford to be in such a helpless position here.
As she stood there thinking, the door opened, startling her, and she turned to glare at Jax.
“I get that this is your house, but don’t you have manners? Don’t you know how to knock? What if I was naked? Or is that it? Are you trying to catch me naked?” She asked, narrowing her eyes.
Jax looked at her, his usually cold blue eyes gleaming with amusement despite his exhaustion. What sort of a crazy girl was she? He wondered.
“Do you always run your mouth this way?” He asked, cocking a brow when he noticed her eyes and remembered earlier she had mentioned something about her eyes being irritated.
“Didn’t you say you knew a lot about me? I suppose you didn’t do your homework well enough,” she retorted, resisting the urge to rub her eyes even though she badly needed to.
“I guess so. I’ll give you a friendly advise…”
“Since when did we become friends?” She asked with a raised brow, she asked irritated.
“Shut up and listen!” Jax ordered harshly.
Mari crossed her arms in front of her, “Or what? Who do you think you are to tell me what to do? Do I look like your sister or your fuck buddy? Did you think because you kidnapped me and brought me here against my will I’m going to do whatever you say?” Mari asked hotly.
“Yes, you will. You know why? Because you have no idea who I am or what I can do to you. So, you better listen and listen good. First thing, shut your mouth!” He said, taking a step towards her, and he smirked when he saw the flicker of fear in her eyes.
“You’re going to be here for a long time, and honestly, I have no desire to hurt you. So don’t tempt me. I advise you to make this arrangement easy for me and yourself by shutting your mouth and doing as you are told.”
“What do you want from me? What is your plan? Why are you keeping me here? I heard your sister say that my father was responsible for the death of your dad…”
“So, you admit now that your father is Cassidy Bank?” He asked with a smirk, and she pressed her lips together.
“I’m not admitting anything. I’m just saying you got the wrong person. I know nothing about all that you’re saying. You’re wasting your time by keeping me here. Let me go and…”
“I’m not letting you go,” he cut in quietly.
“That made my heart flutter. It sounded more like a love confession. Tell me the truth, do you have crush on me?” Mari asked, deciding to change her tactics again. Perhaps if she frustrated him enough he’d have no choice but to throw her out.
Jax blinked, taken aback by the sudden and random change of subject. Did she have a mental disorder he was not informed about? Why did she keep saying crazy things?
Seeing the gleam of mischief in her eyes he took a deep breath, “Maribel…”
“Yes, baby?” Mari said sweetly.
“Don’t call me that,” he said, glaring at her.

“Why not, baby?” She asked, fluttering her lashes at him innocently.
Jax took a deep breath to calm himself, realizing that he was yet to say why he came into the room. “Keep this up and I won’t need to raise a finger because Venita or Diva will get rid of you themselves,” he threatened.
“How long do you plan to keep me here?” Mari asked, going to sit on the edge of her bed.
“Long enough. Now tell me, what do you need for your eyes?” He asked feeling sorry for her since he could tell she must be having serious discomfort.
Mari looked at him, wondering if he was really going to help. Deciding to try her luck she responded, “I need to take off the contacts. But I can’t do so…” she trailed off, wondering if it was wise to tell him she couldn’t see without her contacts or glasses.
Wouldn’t he use that information against her to keep her from escaping?
“Why can’t you do so?” Jax asked, and she decided not to tell him the truth.
“I’ll appreciate it if you can get me solution for my contacts. For now a glass of water would do, so I can store it inside,” she said, figuring that she could take off the lens and leave it in a glass of water and then lock her bedroom door and rest her eyes.
She would put on the contacts again before facing them and not let anyone know just how bad her sight was.
“I’ll get it,” he said and headed for the door.
“Baby?” She called, stopping him, and he turned to glare at her.
“I need to freshen up. I need a change of clothes. Unless you plan for me to remain in these clothes for as long as you keep me here,” she said, and Jax walked away without a response.
As he walked away, he took out his phone and dialed a number, “Her eyes are red and seem irritated.”
“Why didn’t I think of that. She needs her glasses. She has worn her contacts for too long. I’ll send a pair across to you. Make sure she’s comfortable.”
“I will,” Jax promised before hanging up.
