Chapter 117: Let Me Have Him
Genevieve was silent for a long while and just when Stefan was beginning to think she wasn’t going to respond, she sighed, “I can’t.”

“You already said you don’t have to. It’s okay if you can’t talk about it.”

“I mean I can’t be in a relationship. I don’t know how to be in a relationship,” she admitted quietly.

Stefan’s brows pulled together, “I don’t think I understand what you mean.”

Genevieve bit her lower lip as she considered whether or not she wanted to tell him the truth. And then figuring that he knew a little about her embarrassing past already she decided to be honest.

“I used to be addicted to sex. All I wanted from guys was sex and most of them came to me because of my father’s wealth not necessarily because they cared about me. The nude tapes I knew about them before they were released. I was being blackmailed at first but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to pay a dime so I asked them to release it. I thought maybe if they released the news I’d get my father’s attention. And then they released it but it didn’t change anything. Apart from his initial anger, nothing much changed. And then I got to college and even though the videos had been taken down from the internet, it kept circulating around campus. I didn’t care what a bunch of strangers said or thought about me. Or so I told myself. And then I continued my lifestyle in college until one night I was with this guy and after several rounds of sex he became motionless. I was terrified. He wasn’t breathing and I tried all I could to get him to wake up but he wouldn’t. I didn’t want to risk calling for help…”

“He died?” Stefan asked with a frown.

“I thought so at first. While I was still trying to figure out what to do and how to get myself out of that mess, his friends began to call repeatedly. I didn’t know what to do. I was so confused and scared so I turned off his phone. Shortly after his friends came knocking on my door. They wanted to see him…”

“You took him to your house?” Stefan asked, confused.

“Yeah. After that blackmail incident I made sure to take the guys to a hotel I paid for myself. And then when I began to live alone I figured there was no need going to a hotel. I took them to my apartment instead. I know it was foolish,” she said with a deep sigh.

“So, what happened with the friends?” Stefan asked curiously.

“They saw his motionless body and accused me of killing him. I cried and begged and told them I didn’t hurt him. They wouldn’t listen. They said they were going to call the police and after much pleading they asked me to pay to shut them up and they would take him with them back to their hostel and they would say he died in his sleep,” Genevieve said, and Stefan frowned.

“For real?”

Genevieve nodded, “Yeah. So, I agreed. I gave them all the money I had in my account. Everything,” she said with a shaky sigh, “And then they left with his body. I was so traumatized by that one incident that I couldn’t even approach any guy and even when they approached me I turned them down. I had nightmares for days and lived in fear of being haunted by his ghost. Guess who I saw a month later in the club with his friends?” Genevieve asked with a self deprecating laugh.

“He connived with his friends to dupe you?” Stefan asked in disbelief.

“Yeah,” she said with a deep sigh.

“Did you confront him?” Stefan asked, but she shook her head.

“No. I was just too relieved to see he was alive. I was upset but I was relieved. Because at the time I saw him I had begun to receive therapy because of the incident. So, back to your question. Sorry I got sidetracked…”

“I don’t mind. I was also wondering why you changed so much and this explains it,” he said, and she sighed again.

“So, I didn’t want to get into a relationship because I know most of the guys coming want me because they know of my past and want a casual sexual relationship with me or because of my background. And I didn’t want to get into a relationship and start having sex again. I’m scared of becoming that person again.”

“So, you’ve been celibate since then?” Stefan asked with interest.

“Not exactly. At first I used sex toys to… wait, why am I telling you this? Why am I always telling you stuff?” Genevieve asked with an embarrassed laugh.

“Because you know I won’t judge you?” He said, and she smiled.

“Maybe,” she sighed, “So, yeah. I’ve not been with a guy since then. But sometimes when I feel like it, I use my vibrators.”

“Is that a plural I hear there?” Stefan asked, surprised.

“Can you please not judge me for being honest?”

“I’m not judging you for being honest, I’m just surprised, that’s all,” he said and then raised a brow, “is your father aware about any of this?”

“No. He doesn’t care about what I do with my life as long as I do whatever he says and don’t cause any trouble that makes it to the news,” she said in with a sigh.

“So, if you’ve been avoiding sex this whole time why did you suddenly want to have sex with me last night?” He asked even though he knew it had been her father’s idea.

Genevieve knew there was no way she could tell him it had been partly her father’s suggestion and partly because she had wanted to, so she shrugged. “I guess I easily slipped back into my old habit because I was close to a very attractive guy,” Genevieve said, and then her eyes widened slightly as they approached the gates of an amusement park.

“An amusement park?” She asked, and Stefan turned to smile at her.

“Yeah. Let’s have lots of fun today, Viv,” he said, and her chest felt tight.

She had only been to an amusement park twice in her life. The first time had been because her father had wanted to take Dawn there, and Dawn’s mom had asked that she join them, and the second time had been after the ‘accident’ when her father had wanted to reveal her face to the world as Genevieve post surgery, and had taken her to the amusement park and asked reporters to come and take pictures of him being a doting stepfather.

“Why are you staring at me that way? Don’t you like it?” Stefan asked curiously as he parked the car in the designated parking lot.

“I do. I love it,” she said, smiling at him.

“Good. Now let’s go have fun,” he said as he got out of the car.

Genevieve took a deep breath as Stefan went around the car to get her door.

“I’m sorry Abigail. Please, let me have Jamal. Please. I promise to be good to you, but just let me have him,” she whispered to herself.
