Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress - Chapter 98
Chapter 98: Bug Sweep
Genevieve stood in front of the house, waving at Stefan as Jamal drove off. As the car disappeared from view, Stefan sighed deeply.
“I think you should pull over so I can sit in the front let’s talk,” Stefan suggested.
Jamal pulled over before Stefan could get out of the car, Jamal and got out of the car.
“What? You want me to drive?” Stefan asked as he got out of the car.
“Don’t you think that maybe the car might be bugged?” Jamal asked, stepping away from the car.
Stefan raised a brow, “Why would I think so? Did something happen to make you think that? And even if that’s the case, we talked yesterday in the car, remember? So if it was bugged whoever bugged it would have known by now that you’re Jamal,” Stefan pointed out, and Jamal swore under his breath.
“You’re right. I didn’t think about that yesterday,” Jamal admitted with a deep sigh, remembering that he had lied to Ryan that Stefan had asked him about Genevieve.
If there was a listening Device then Ryan would know that he had lied. He was going to need to be more careful and act smarter to keep both Dawn, Josh and himself safe.
“Why? What’s wrong? You think it might be bugged?” Stefan asked, staring back at the car and recalling all he had discussed with Jamal in the car the previous day and all he had discussed with Genevieve to see how implicating it all might be.
“I don’t know. Genevieve’s Dad seems like the type to do something like that. I’m just trying to be careful. He asked me to keep an eye on Genevieve and report all she does to him,” Jamal explained and Stefan looked at him.
“If it would put your mind at ease, we can check to see if there is a listening device in the car,” Stefan suggested.
“You think we can?” Jamal asked hopefully. He’d like to be able to talk to Abigail whenever he was driving her, without fear that they would be discovered.
Stefan nodded. “All we need to do is find a bug sweep. I don’t think you’d be comfortable driving a car you feel this way about,” Stefan said and Jamal smiled, grateful that Stefan understood.
“So, when and how do we find a bug sweep?” Jamal asked and Stefan glanced at his watch.
It was almost 9 pm. “Hm. We can check the internet. But this would have been easier and faster if Uncle Harry or Uncle Tom knew about this. They have the connection for it.”
“They do know about it. You’re right,” Jamal said as he took out his phone and dialed Harry’s line. Immediately he told Harry what he wanted, Harry texted him a number to call.
“You told them about your being here already? Why do I feel like I’m the one in Westend with you, but I don’t know what is going on?” Stefan asked as he watched Jamal dial the number Harry had given him.
“I’ll bring you up to speed as soon as we get out of here,” Jamal said, and just then the call connected and he immediately told the man on the other end of the phone what he wanted.
After agreeing to meet at the Hotel, Jamal hung up the call and looked at Stefan, “Let’s not have any serious conversations in the car until we are certain there is nothing in the car. I will tell you everything at the hotel,” Jamal promised and Stefan gave him a nod.
Once they got back into the car, Jamal drove in silence. As he drove he thought about the first time he saw Dawn and how he never would have imagined that the childish crush he had nursed into love would grow into such a turbulent love story.
Who would have imagined that the little Jamal, who had told little Dawn that he was going to marry her was going to end up impregnating her without getting married to her, and have to fight a beast like Ryan to get both her and their son? Jamal pondered with a deep sigh.
Stefan on the other hand sat quietly in the passenger seat beside Jamal, and his thoughts ran in different directions as he thought about everything he knew thus far.
He wondered what Jamal thought of Genevieve and if it would be possible for him to ask Jamal to show Genevieve mercy.
By the time they arrived at the hotel, the bug sweep they had gotten was already waiting there and immediately Jamal handed the car keys to him and he drove the car to the underground parking lot while Jamal went in with Stefan.
“I’ll call Genevieve to let her know I want to share a drink with you,” Stefan said, and Jamal gave him a nod to go ahead.
After Stefan made the call to Genevieve, he and Jamal headed for the lounge part of the hotel, and sat down.
“So? What’s going on? The mute Abigail from five years ago is Dawn?” Stefan asked, and Jamal nodded.
“How is that possible?” Stefan asked, and Jamal went on to tell him everything in detail about how he had found out that Abigail was Dawn and she wasn’t mute.
By the time Jamal was done telling him everything that Ryan had done to Abigail’s family and the role Genevieve had played in making Abigail’s life hell, Stefan sighed deeply, deciding that there was no way he could possibly ask them to have mercy on Genevieve.
Asking Jamal or Abigail to forgive all of that would be inconsiderate of him.

He didn’t want to put himself in that situation especially not when he wasn’t so sure if she was really going to change.
If they were going to have mercy on her, it should be because she listened to his advise and changed her ways completely. She was going to have to show that she was a different person in order to be forgiven.
