Chapter 440: Keep Moving Forward
On the other side of the country, in the building used by the Moonlight Guild, a man wearing a suit walked through the hallway of the upper floors that were off-limits to anyone below Vice Captain level. He made his way past a few doors before finally arriving at a large door at the end of the hallway. He took in a deep breath, sighed, and then raised his hand to knock.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
“Madam Luna.”
The man waited for a few seconds, and there was no reply. He knocked and called out the name again, and the same thing happened. After the third time, he sighed and just decided to say what he came here for.
“Madam Luna, we have another message from the Superhuman Alliance. They are requesting your presence at the final trial of Salazar. We haven’t been able to give them a proper response since you haven’t told us what you wish to do. Any form of message would be appreciated…”
Once more, there was no response, and the man sighed while rubbing his temple. He could feel a headache coming.
“Madam Luna, I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but it’s been two weeks now since you went into your room and shut the world out. I can’t begin to say that I understand what you are going through since I don’t know what went on between you and GHOST after that fight, but please, I implore you to remember your position. You are the leader of the second largest guild in America. Your employees and vice-captains need your presence in order for the guild to continue running properly.”
The man said all this in a solemn, quiet tone, and he tried as much as possible to make it sound respectful, but anyone who heard him would be able to tell that his patience was running thin. Luna went into her room the moment she got back from that fight against the Eldritch, and there had been no contact from her since then. The only times that she has been seen were when she was training alone in the training room or when she allowed her personal chef into the room to make her a meal or bring her something she wanted to eat. It was almost like Luna was shutting herself off from the world and refusing to do anything anymore.
If not for the fact that Luna was training hard almost every day, the man would think that she was depressed. The man didn’t know what happened between Luna and Mark, but he knew that it was the reason behind this sudden change in Luna. Even though Luna was always an introvert, this was absurd. It was like she became a shut-in overnight.
The man waited for a while for any form of response from Luna, and after some time, he thought he was not going to get anything at all. He turned around and was about to leave, but he suddenly heard a voice from the other side of the door that stopped him in his tracks.
“Tell them I’ll be there.”
Luna only said this much before she went silent again. The man turned around in shock for a moment, but then he smiled and said a quick thank you before leaving. At least now he was sure that Luna was not completely lost. If she could still understand that she had responsibilities, then she would be fine.
Inside the room, Luna was huddled up in her bed. Her knees were tucked in, and she had a large blanket covering her entire body as she hugged herself tightly.
‘Yes, I’m KING.’
‘Maybe if you were there for me instead of Arit, then I’m sure I would have fallen in love with you.’
‘I’m sorry, I can’t hurt Arit.’
The conversation that Luna had with Mark was replaying in her head over and over again like it was on repeat. Every word that Mark said cut her in a way a blade never could, and Luna felt her eyes watering as she hugged herself tighter. She didn’t know what to do now. What could she do now that she lost both Mark and KING at the same time?
It felt like the world really hated her. She had been looking for someone who could help her get over KING for a long time now, and once she managed to find someone that she thought she could spend her life with, that person turned out to be the exact person she had been trying to get over all this while. And now he was gone.
“It’s not fair. Why does Arit have to take him away? I was the first. I knew him first. I…”
Luna grit her teeth in frustration and buried her face into her pillow in anger as she screamed! She hated this feeling so much! This feeling that she lost!
For a single moment, the thought of getting rid of Arit passed through Luna’s mind. If Arit was no longer there, then she would have a chance with Mark. That was all she needed to do, right? She just needed to get rid of Arit.
‘What the hell am I thinking?’
Luna sighed at herself as she slowly let go of her blanket and sat up in bed. Luna was only wearing a black bra and panties, so her pale white skin was fully on display. Her white hair fell down her shoulder in waves, and she put some of it behind her ear while looking out the window on the other side of the room. It was already late at night, but the moonlight shone through the window and filtered some light into the room.
Luna stared at a spot in front of her, and a ball of water slowly formed from thin air and began to rotate slowly. The water formed into a long icicle before dissipating into mist, then turning to dew and falling to the ground. Luna grabbed the dew again and reversed the reaction, changing it from dew to mist, to ice, to water, and then back to moisture before she sighed as it dissipated into the air. She checked her mana and felt the small dip in her reserves that always came when she created super hard water.
Ever since that fight against the Eldritch, Luna had been training hard to make sure she was capable of standing beside Mark if they were ever in a fight again. Right now, Luna knew that the biggest issue she had was how much mana she wasted whenever she created heavy or super heavy water. She had trained hard enough that creating heavy water was no longer an issue. The only problem she still had was manipulating super heavy water without losing so much mana. Luna knew that would take her a bit longer, but she would get there.
“I must be going crazy. How can I be thinking of killing someone just to get a chance with Mark?”
Killing Arit wouldn’t solve everything, and she would lose any chance with Mark since Mark would definitely hate her for doing it.
Luna shook her head and rubbed her eyes a few times before sighing. She must be going crazy.

Luna stood up and walked barefoot to the other side of the room to take a bath. She had dark circles under her eyes, and the edges of her eyes were red from all the crying she had been doing. Her room was a complete mess, with torn clothes, broken vases, and a shattered TV. She broke almost everything in her room after she came back because of how angry and frustrated she was. But all of that could be fixed easily, and Luna decided that she would take her mind off Mark for the meantime and focus on her guild.
She needed to make an appearance at the trial for the sake of her guild’s popularity, so she was going to put all her life problems behind her for now and keep moving forward.
