Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 454
Chapter 454: Testing The System
Pat did it.
After two months of research, experimentation, and spending more money than he had, he finally did it! Pat sat up in his chair and clicked a button on his keyboard, and the middle screen changed its color. The red hue that had been showing the population density of the area suddenly cleared out, and it was instead replaced with a white map that had various purple dots all around it.
This was an image cross-referenced from all the satellites that Pat owned. Pat bought five satellites using close to a billion dollars, so he was able to cover the entire landmass of America easily. The purple dots that were showing on the screen were what the system saw as people who possessed mana. Anybody or anything that didn’t possess mana was showing up on the screen as a yellow dot. The dots would sometimes blink out of existence before showing back up again, and Pat knew that this was only because the system wasn’t finished integrating the new programming. It would stabilize after a few more minutes, and he would be able to see where all the mana spots were!
“System. Implement the relay that I asked you to finish up before. Use it to scan this area over in city A.”
[Implementing. The relay is only 60% complete. Scans might show false or incomplete data.]
“Doesn’t matter, just do it.”
[Confirmed. Implementing. Implementation complete.]
The map on the screen suddenly zoomed in, and Pat got an aerial view of the top of the Red Lotus Hotel where Mark and Arit were staying. There were multiple purple lights all around the hotel, but Pat focused on the purple lights that were congregated in Mark’s condo. There were three lights in the house. One of them was alone, and the other two were moving around the penthouse quickly. Pat could only guess that those two were running about and playing.
Pat frowned as he clicked the button to reload the sensor and it still came back with only three lights. Pat remembered that his sister Jeanne was staying with Mark and Arit right now, so there should be four lights in the house.
Pat put a call through to Mark.
“Mark.”
[Pat, what the hell? Where have you been? And what the fuck have you been doing?]
“Not now, I’ll tell you about it once I’m done. Are you at home with everyone?”
[Everyone? Well, yeah, we’re all here.]
“Really? There’s no one missing?”
[Pat, what the fuck is going on? I was in the middle of another call before you called, so just tell me if you’re in some kind of trouble.]
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I was just working on something and need to know if you’re all in the house. Say hello to Jeanne and sister-in-law for me. I’ll call you once I finish what I’m doing.”
Pat cut the call before Mark could say another word and started to think about what could be wrong. Why was the system only showing three mana signatures in the house when there were four people who could use mana in there? Is it because of sister-in-law? Arit was an anima-human hybrid, so Pat wondered if she didn’t have any mana, but Pat easily got rid of that possibility. All anima had mana, and even though they all used it differently, they weren’t capable of hiding their mana from his system. That was the whole point of him making the scanner the way he did.
That only left the other superhumans. Out of the remaining three people, the only person that Pat saw making his system malfunction was Mark himself. Just like everyone else, Pat also knew very little about Mark’s powers, so he had no idea if there was something about Mark’s powers that prevented the system from seeing him on the scan.
“Or maybe it’s because I didn’t fully implement the relay into the system yet. I’ll try again when it’s done.”
Pat sighed as he leaned back in his seat and put his foot up on the small table beside him. He allowed his mind to relax as he waited for the system to do its thing, and in less than ten seconds, he was asleep.
[… Relay implementation complete. You can now use the system to search for mana at a wider range and depth. The deeper and wider the range is spread, the lesser the accuracy of the scan.]
Pat’s eyes blinked open slowly as the system started to talk. Pat turned his head tiredly towards the clock at the bottom of his screen and groaned when he noticed that he had only slept for an hour. He was still fucking tired.
Pat sat up in his chair and rubbed his eyes groggily before checking the system message to see if it was really finished. The map in the middle of the screen had changed again, and this time, the colors that were once showing all purple had changed to show both red and purple in different shades. The system had a label at the bottom of the screen and a drop-down menu where the colors could be changed, and Pat read off the words calmly.
“Red for anima mana signatures and purple for human mana signatures. That’s useful. Hey, did you implement the colors yourself?”
[Yes, I did. I felt it was more reasonable to have a color scheme for the different mana signatures that could be read.]
Pat hummed while nodding in appreciation and started to type away at his keyboard to check and make sure everything was really working well. Pat made the system to show not only the mana in a place but also the concentration of mana in that place. That meant that as the system was tracking a person through their mana, Pat would be able to see just how much mana that person had by how dark the coloring was. A darker color showed that there was a higher concentration of mana, and a lighter color showed that there was a lower concentration.
The image of the Red Lotus hotel that Pat was looking at had two purple lights and one light that was a mixture of red and purple shining inside it. The two purple lights were the ones running around the house. One of the purple lights was very bright, and the other one shone with a dimmer glow. Pat figured that these two purple lights were from his sister and Talia. Pat configured the system to take S-rank levels of mana as its midpoints. That meant that as the levels of mana dropped below S-rank, the light would get dimmer, and as it rose above S-rank, the lights would get brighter. That way, Pat could easily determine the strength of a being using their levels of mana.
Talia was an A-rank, but she had more mana than some S-ranks, so that bright light was most likely her and the other dim light was his sister. Pat scoffed in amusement.
“I wonder how Jeanne’ll react if she finds out she has less mana than a child. Heh, weak sauce.”

Pat then moved over to the other light which was a mixture of red and purple. That was most definitely his sister-in-law. Since Arit was a mixture of both human and anima mana, there was a high likelihood that this was her.
“But where the fuck is Mark?”
Mark said that he was in the building with the rest of them, but Pat couldn’t find him in his scans. This was a big issue for Pat. Creating this system was for him to be able to find his allies easily in the middle of a mission and to warn them about where to go and how to get there. Not being able to see his most important ally was going to make this entire thing pointless!
Pat put out a call again, and Mark picked up on the second ring.
[Seriously, what the fuck are you doing?]
