Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 455
Chapter 455: Anima Clusters
“It’s nothing serious. I need you to help me out with something. How well can you control your mana?”
[My mana? Pat, is this some sort of joke?]
“It’s not. I need you to tell me how well you control your mana.”
Pat already had a hypothesis about why he couldn’t see Mark on his scans, and he needed Mark to help him out with figuring out whether or not this was true. Pat’s system worked by scanning the atmosphere for the residual frequencies left behind by the mana leaking out from a superhuman or anima. According to research done on superhumans in Germany, there was no superhuman in the world that could prevent mana from leaking from their body, no matter how good their control was. Pat figured out that this mana that was leaked left behind a strange frequency that showed up as inversed sine waves when scanned using infrared light. So Pat was sure that his system would be able to use this residual mana to find out where any superhuman or anima was.
But Mark had always been an enigma. If Mark was telling the truth and he really was at home, then that could either mean that Mark had no mana at all, or his mana control was so good that it was impossible for even a single atom of mana to leak from his body.
On the other end of the call, Mark went silent for a moment before he sighed.
[My mana control is pretty good. I don’t waste any mana at all, and my mana doesn’t move unless I want it to. Why do you want to know that?]
“Leak some mana for me.”
Mark grimaced.
[Jesus Christ, Pat. Don’t ever say something like that again. Are you trying to give me nightmares?]
“Okay, okay, that came out wrong. I meant to release some mana into the atmosphere. I’m doing some research, and I need to confirm something.”
Mark was sitting in his living room beside Arit while answering the call from Pat, and Mark looked up at the ceiling curiously when he heard Pat telling him that he was doing research.
[Are you spying on my house?]
“What? No, that’s absurd. Do you think I would do such a thing?”
[Yes.]
“You wound me with your lack of faith in me. Now, come on, give me that mana.”
Mark sighed at Pat’s request before he finally relented and began to release some mana from his body in small waves. Once Mark did this, Arit, who was beside him, sat up in shock and asked him what was wrong. Mark just told her to relax; he was helping Pat out with something.
Pat watched the image on his screen closely, and the moment Mark started to release mana from his body, the area beside the light, which was a mixture of red and purple, began to glow a dark purple. Oh yeah, I fucking got it.
“Thanks for the help. I’ll get back to you soon.”
[Wait, you bastard—]

Pat ended the call with Mark before Mark could say anything more and started to type into his keyboard furiously. This presented a problem for him. It seemed that the system was limited by the mana control that the subject had. That meant the better the mana control of a person, the harder it was for the system to trace their location. Pat tried to think of a way to go around this drawback, but no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t figure out any solution.
This wasn’t a system problem that he could fix; it was a skill issue from mana itself. If there was no mana for his system to scan, there was nothing that Pat could do about it. Well, that was fine with Pat for now. As far as Pat knew, Mark was the only person he had seen with such an inhuman level of mana control. If Mark was some sort of anomaly, then Pat would just tell him to constantly leak some mana from his body during fights so that he would know where he was.
Pat finally panned away from the Red Lotus hotel and began to scroll back, reducing the map size so he could see the entire country. As Pat scrolled back, his brow started to crease into a frown as he saw something strange. There was a large cluster of red lights somewhere west of the Red Lotus Hotel. The red light was large enough to be an entire house, and it was pulsing.
“An error? Hey, are you sure you configured the relay properly?”
[Affirmative. The system and relay are perfectly synchronized.]
“Those mana signatures in large clusters, track their altitude and source.”
[Scanning… scanning… The system has calculated the mana signatures to exist one kilometer below ground level.]
The system saying this only made Pat’s heartbeat race as he continued to scroll outwards to see more of the country! The more he scrolled, the faster his heart began to beat!
Pat hadn’t felt his heart beat this fast since that one time he was living off only soda for a week! Pat felt like his heart was about to burst out of his chest!

“Fucking hell. What the fuck are those?”
Pat muttered in shock while leaning forward to get a better look at what was showing on his screen, and the system responded to his question easily!
[The system predicts those to be Anima clusters existing below the continent of America.]
Pat hadn’t even been asking the system for an answer, but the system’s words were enough to confirm Pat’s fear!
Pat couldn’t believe his eyes! Even though he was looking right at the screen, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Pat cleaned his eyes and looked at the screen again to make sure he was seeing properly, but no matter how many times he refreshed the map or how many times he changed the coloration of the screen in case he was causing some unwanted pigmentation, he wasn’t able to get rid of those clusters!
“Anima mana? That means those are anima!? They are everywhere! Every major city in the country has a cluster of anima mana under it! There must be hundreds of them! How the fuck did we miss this!?”
The clusters of anima mana were so well hidden under the country that there wasn’t a single person who knew about it! This would have stayed that way if not for Pat inventing and using his scan on the city!
Pat stood up in shock while staring at the screen with wide eyes. This was crazy! Pat had been thinking about using the system to find Fiona once he was finished making it, but that was the last thing on his mind right now! Finding Fiona immediately took a back seat to this! If the anima in those clusters were allowed to reach the surface, then America would cease to exist! The number of clusters that Pat was seeing below America was enough to cause the apocalypse and wipe America off the map!
