Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 469
Chapter 469: Hotel Raid
Patrick was even more shocked when the police vehicle that had been chasing him suddenly broke off from the chase and joined the long line of police vehicles that just passed him. It was obvious that whatever situation these vehicles were moving towards was far more important than catching him.
Zoom!
Zoom!
Zoom!
Another long convoy of cars suddenly passed Pat, and Pat’s eyes widened when he saw many military-grade vehicles in that convoy. Armored cars and police vehicles, along with some Vanitas Model M cars that were only used by the government. What the hell was going on here? There was no way this was normal.
Pat immediately clicked a button on his smart dashboard and started to make a call.
Ring~ Ring~ Ring~
As the phone rang, Patrick reached over to the side and shifted his laptop out of the way before getting a can of Monster Energy. He opened it and chugged everything down at once before sighing. Pat had been severely sleep-deprived for more than a month now, and these energy drinks were literally the only thing keeping Pat awake. Pat knew that if he didn’t take one every two hours, he would probably pass out in seconds!
The person that Pat was calling picked up on the third ring.
[Patrick, what is it? I’m at work right now.]
“Trent, I need info. I just saw a long convoy of police and military cars moving down to the central region of City C. Can you find out what is going on?”
The person that Patrick was calling was one of his contacts in the police. Patrick kept a few policemen on his payroll ever since Mark started as a superhuman. When Mark was still fighting as GHOST, he would sometimes need to run away from the police or evade the media while escaping from a fight scene, and Pat used his contacts to get the information about police patrol routes so that he would be able to guide Mark on the right roads to take.
On the other end of the call, Trent quickly ducked behind his desk once he heard Pat talking about that convoy. He looked around to make sure there weren’t any eavesdroppers before he spoke conspiratorially.
[Where the fuck are you right now!? Don’t tell me you’re going to the Red Lotus Hotel.]
“Yeah, I am. I’m going there to see a friend of mine. He stays at the hotel.”
Trent didn’t know that Patrick was friends with GHOST, and Patrick never bothered to tell him because he didn’t want anyone to know that they could get to GHOST through him. All Trent knew about Patrick was that Patrick was interested in some of the police routes, and he would pay him good money for information sometimes. Trent never heard about any crimes after giving Patrick information, so Trent didn’t ever think it was a big deal to continue selling the information to Patrick. It was good money, and Patrick wasn’t using the information for anything bad. But Trent couldn’t believe how bad Patrick’s luck was. Why was he going to that hotel at a time like this!?
There was a recent memo that went out to all members of the police force detailing a raid on the Red Lotus hotel that would happen this afternoon. They didn’t tell the police officers what the raid was about or who they were there to apprehend, but there wasn’t a single person who didn’t know GHOST lived in this hotel, so almost every police officer had a suspicion that they were here for GHOST.
[Look, I don’t know why, but they are carrying out a raid on the Red Lotus right now! I think it’s somehow related to that GHOST boy, but I can’t be sure. I wasn’t put on the roster for the raid, but a friend of mine said that they even saw the SOVEREIGN Alec Ben with them when they were going to the hotel! This is fucking serious, Pat. If you know what’s good for you, then don’t go anywhere near that hotel for now! Do you hear me? Get the fuck out of there!]
Click!
Patrick glanced down at his phone in shock as Trent suddenly clicked the phone off without saying anything more, and Patrick immediately shifted gears on his car, swerved around the car in front of him, and slammed his foot down on the pedal like a race car driver.
Vroom!!
The car sped off towards the hotel like a fucking demon, passing every other car and forcing some of the cars in front to move out of the way quickly! Pat’s half-lidded eyes were suddenly wide and alert as he raced after the convoy! Just like the members of the police, Patrick also knew that a raid this large could only be for Mark.
Pat reached to the side and clicked the screen on his dashboard to put out a call to Mark!
Ring~ Ring~ Ring~
The phone rang for a long time before the automatic responder reported that there was no answer, and Pat cursed as he put the call through again. Pick up, you bastard! This is important! Pick the fuck up!
Ring~ Ring~
[Pat. What is it?]
This time, the phone only rang for a short time before Mark picked up, and Pat didn’t waste any time with greeting as he immediately shouted.
“You need to get the fuck out of that hotel now!”
On the other side of the call, Mark sat up from the couch he was sitting on as he heard Pat shout. Talia had been putting her socks on beside Mark, and she turned to him curiously when she saw him standing. Mark just smiled and told her not to worry as he walked to the side of the room. Mark could feel the tension in Pat’s voice through the phone, and he immediately knew that something serious was going on.

[What the fuck are you talking about, Pat? Why do I need to get out of the hotel?]
“There’s a police detail coming to the hotel to raid it. I think they’re coming after you! Get out of there now!”
Mark frowned in confusion, and it was at that moment that Mark suddenly heard the unmistakable sound of police sirens blaring from the distance! Mark hadn’t paid any attention to it before since it was barely audible, but now that Mark was paying attention, he could tell that there were more than thirty police cars all blaring at the same time!
[Thanks for the heads up.]
Mark immediately cut the phone once he said this, and Pat focused on the road again as he sped up even more! He knew that Mark would be fine if he could just get out of the hotel, but Pat had to get there and make sure everything was okay! Pat could only think of one reason why the police would even be after Mark after everything that Mark had done for this country, and that left a bad taste in his mouth!
‘Someone ratted out Arit. They know that she killed those kids. Fuck! Who the hell would do that!? I thought Mark, Arit, and I were the only ones that knew about this!? Does that mean they told someone else without telling me!?’
That meant that the police weren’t only after Mark, but they were also after Arit. The only reason why the police weren’t coming after Pat was because no one knew that Pat was Mark’s friend. Pat could only hope that Mark would make it out of there quickly!
