Chapter 489: So This Is Your End Game?
There was a sharp point at the end of its tail, and just from the look of it, it was obvious that one stab could kill anyone unlucky enough to be on the receiving end. But Luna stayed in place, summoning a wall of ice to protect herself! The tail stabbed into the ice, and Luna called up another wall when the tail easily broke through the first! This time, the wall was made from tritium, and although Luna felt the dip in her mana again, she was glad when the second wall stopped the tail. But the hippo had already appeared on the other side with its mouth wide open! It was about to unleash a massive wave of fire on Luna, but another wall made from tritium suddenly appeared behind her!
The hippo almost scoffed! Did this human think she could stop it with an ordinary ice wall!? Its flames could burn through the shells of the strongest turtles! Any form of ice would melt in front of its great fire!
PHWOOM!
The hippo released its flames toward Luna, and the fire slammed into the wall. But it was shocked when it noticed that the wall didn’t melt! Although the flames were more than hot enough to destroy the ice, the anima didn’t know that Luna was actively holding together the intermolecular forces of the ice to make sure it didn’t melt!
Finally, Luna shouted out as she completed what she had been preparing!
“Arit! Get out of here!”
It was almost like time came to a standstill as Luna’s mana burst from her body in one large wave of pure white light! It spread across the entire region, and everything began to grow colder! The hippo roared as it charged at Luna and broke through the ice wall, but Luna easily jumped back to avoid it!
Arit heard what Luna said, and though she didn’t understand why Luna was suddenly telling her to leave, she obeyed. Grabbing the head of one of the anima around her, Arit started to absorb its mana while carrying it into the sky! The anima shriveled up into a skeletal mess, and Arit let it fall back to the ground, using the energy she got from it to move even faster!
Once Luna was sure Arit was gone, she put her hand up, grabbed hold of the moisture in the atmosphere, and made a large spike of ice form over the heads of the two Eldritch-class anima! The anima looked up in shock, preparing to move out of the way to avoid the spikes, but Luna let go of the spike and activated another skill that grabbed hold of the water around her! The entire battlefield paused as both the anima, Sasha, and Luna froze!
Luna’s powers allowed her to control all forms of water regardless of where it was located, and right now, Luna was controlling the water both in the atmosphere and inside the bodies of every single organism in a hundred-meter radius around her. Doing something like this on such a large scale was extraordinary, but it was also extremely taxing on Luna, and she could feel the effects of the skill on both her stamina and mana as a line of blood dribbled down from her nose.
The anima she was holding down were trying their best to move, but she struggled to keep them pinned! The constructs that Luna had created before were still falling from the sky, and it didn’t take long before they finally reached the two anima!
SQUELCH!
Sasha watched on in shock as the large ice spike stabbed into the body of the lion anima, leaving a large injury on its side! The second spike flew down towards the hippo, but its tough skin prevented the ice from causing a deep wound as it just stabbed into its shoulder. It was about to fall to the ground, but suddenly, Arit appeared from the side, grabbed the ice spike before it could drop, and shouted in exertion as she drove the ice deep into the monster’s body!
SQUELCH!
Luna finally felt her mana dropping to less than thirty percent, and she immediately let go of the monsters around her! Sasha and the other anima also started to move again, and Sasha felt her body shiver as it came back under her control! Sasha couldn’t believe how easily Luna had taken control over another person like that. I need to kill this bitch before she can do something like that again! She’s too dangerous!
Sasha saw Luna creating a large blade of ice that slashed the lion anima to death, and she frowned as she jumped back, getting ready to move forward with the large ape-based anima. At least Sasha was sure that Luna wouldn’t be able to use that body-controlling skill again. Doing something like that must’ve been really taxing on her, so she must not have a lot of mana left. I just have to keep pushing for a few more minutes, and she’ll fall!
The hippo anima that Arit stabbed fell to the ground, dead, and Arit wasted no time as she stabbed her hands into the monster’s body and began to absorb mana from it! She felt all her fatigue disappearing, and she smiled as she saw the large gorilla anima approaching them. With the amount of mana she was getting here, she should be able to put up a small fight against that fucking monkey. Even though she couldn’t handle it alone, she had Luna with her, so Arit was sure they could kill it. But her smile suddenly faded when she realized she couldn’t take in any more mana.
‘I’m full.’
Even though Arit could absorb mana, that didn’t mean she could absorb it endlessly. She was limited by the amount of mana her body could contain. Right now, she was only an S rank, so there was no way she could absorb all the mana that an Eldritch monster had. But Arit could also tell that her mana capacity was increasing—just like a rubber ball that grows the more air you pump into it. Arit just had to continue absorbing higher levels of mana at a steady pace, and eventually, she’d be able to take in much more.
Arit took her hand out from the monster’s body, knowing there was no way for her to take any more mana right now, and she went over to Luna quickly! Luna was standing with one hand on her knee and breathing heavily as she glared up at Sasha. It was obvious that what she did had taken a lot out of her.
Controlling water inside of other creatures was very difficult for Luna because she not only had to fight to hold onto the water, but she also had to fight against the creature. It was like Luna was a snake that tied itself around your body to hold you down. The more force you used to fight back, the more force she had to use to hold you down. But doing it to more than ten organisms at the same time—especially when most of the organisms were so powerful—was very taxing.
