Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 490
Chapter 490: We Need A Plan
Luna didn’t use her control ability when she was fighting against that elder Eldritch. She knew that the monster was far stronger than her, so she wouldn’t be able to hold it for even three seconds before it broke out from her control and the amount of time needed to activate the ability would have given the Elder Eldritch an upper hand. Luna could only do it here because she had gotten stronger after she started training seriously again.
But now that two of the Eldritch were dead and there was only one Elder Eldritch remaining, along with the calamity classes and Sasha, Luna knew they could win this. Luna had more than enough mana as far as she was concerned. She just had to get some of her stamina back, and then she would be able to continue fighting.
Arit came to stand in front of Luna protectively while Luna was catching her breath and asked if she would be okay. Arit wasn’t confident in her ability to take on both the Eldritch and Sasha, so she knew she needed Luna’s help. Luna nodded as she stood straight and gave the monsters a glare. Arit smiled when she saw Luna standing back up and glared at Sasha as well.
“Let’s fuck this bitch up.”
…
All over the country, chaos reigned as people desperately ran away from the monsters emerging from underground. It had only been five hours since the first monster appeared in City B, and since then, the continent of America had been ravaged by more than a thousand Calamity and Disaster-class monsters. The superhumans in all the cities of the world had to come out and fight against the monsters, but the sheer number of anima and the ferocity with which they fought made it impossible for the superhumans to push them back.
“We’ve lost ten percent of America already. Five cities have fallen, and all the superhumans in them have died! Sir, we need to call for reinforcements! The citizens are going to be killed!”
A woman wearing a military outfit was looking at her monitor while talking to a man standing beside her. The man was also wearing a military uniform, but he had stars on his shoulders that showed his rank as a general in the army. He was staring at the large screen in front of him with a detached stare that bordered on emotionless. Anyone who saw him at that moment would think he didn’t care at all about the lives being lost in all the cities. But on the inside, the man was fighting a battle unlike anything he had ever been through before.
His name was General Raj, and he was on the verge of making a very difficult choice. From what he could see on the screen, the man knew that those five cities were gone. There was nothing they could do for the citizens there since the monsters had overrun them, and there were no superhumans left to kill the monsters. Trying to send superhumans to help those citizens would only lead to more deaths in the other cities that could still be saved. It was obvious what the right choice was in this situation. The only thing they could do was to ignore the fallen cities and focus all their attention on the cities that still had a chance.
But how could he say something like that without seeming like a monster?
General Raj grit his teeth, and the woman beside him gasped as they saw a satellite image of a large Calamity-class monster tearing through a building in one of the cities and killing civilians left and right like they were ants. The same calamities that could have been easily defeated if someone like GHOST was around were now what they were debating about, as if it were the most dangerous thing in the world. The man averted his eyes toward another section of the large screen that showed Alec Ben tearing through hundreds of Disaster and Calamity-class monsters at the borders of City S. Alec Ben was their only Sovereign on the ground right now. Luna and Sasha were engaged in battle in City A, and Mark Vanitas had been radio silent ever since they went to capture him and his girlfriend, Arit, earlier.
They had no choice but to do the right thing in this situation. Could they risk the lives of a few to save the many?
Screech!
A loud screech echoed from the monitor before a voice spoke up.
[Send the superhumans in the regions around City S towards Alec Ben’s location. I am going to send in a map of the best areas that need to be defended. Forget about protecting the cities on the outskirts.]
What? Who said that!?
General Raj was stunned as he looked around to try and see where the voice came from, and the woman who had been talking to him suddenly sat up in shock as she realized that it came from her monitor! Someone was talking to them through the monitor!
“Who are you!? What are you doing in our system!? How did you even get on this frequency!?”
General Raj was absolutely stunned that he couldn’t even keep his composure! Their line was the most secure one in America, and it was impossible for anyone without the proper clearance to even know that it existed, let alone tap into it! But the person on the other end just scoffed as the sound of keyboard keys clacking echoed through the line.
[If you want to keep me out of your system, then maybe you should employ someone who actually knows how to write a proper firewall. Your IT team is a travesty if they think BASIC and FORTRAN are good languages to use in building your firewall. Now shut up and look up at your screen.]
The general growled in anger at the insult he just received, but he still looked up when the large screen in front of them split in half. One half showed live images of what was happening in multiple cities, while the other half showed a detailed map of America with many red spots all around it.
How in the world did he do this!? Who is this boy? The red spots on the screen showed various anima locations that the army had been watching. The army had to use hundreds of satellites and cross references with onsite cameras to get those locations, but the locations the General could see on the screen were actually more detailed than what they struggled for so long to create.
‘How did he do this!?’
General Raj could tell from the voice that the person on the other end of the call was a boy, and he couldn’t believe how easy it was for a mere boy to hack into their system like this and bring up such a detailed map! Wasn’t this the highest security in the country!?
The hall they were in was a large hall with multiple military personnel sitting behind more than a hundred systems, sending out instructions to multiple guilds all at the same time, and all of them stopped what they were doing once they heard the voice echoing through the comms and saw the image that appeared on the screen. Even the regular soldiers who didn’t fully understand what was going on were shocked, and they all had to listen as the person started to talk.
