Strongest Superhuman System - Chapter 496
Chapter 496: The Alphas
The man protecting the president watched—wide-eyed—as the newcomer easily dispatched the wolf. The final shot the man fired into the wolves didn’t contain any bullets at all. The man could barely see it, but he knew for sure that what came out of that bullet was pure mana. Once he saw that, he knew what the gun was. It had been created by a scientist a year ago, and tested using some of the superhumans in the army, but it was banned after they realized that it took up too much mana for each attack. Every time it was fired, the wielder would lose about a hundred points of mana. Even for a Sovereign, that was far too much mana to lose for only one attack, so it was scrapped.
‘Why are these newcomers using it like it’s nothing?’
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The man turned to the side as he saw the woman had already taken care of many of the monsters that were still alive after the initial attack. She fired three bullets into the bodies of three large monsters, and they all fell to the ground as they died. Once that was finished, the two newcomers turned towards the guard and the president. The guard was immediately on edge as he eyed the newcomers cautiously. He knew they just saved him, but there was a very real chance they only saved them so they could take the president for themselves. They could be mercenaries working for some terrorist organization for all he knew.
The male newcomer walked up to them and gave a standard military salute, along with the woman behind him.
“Madam President, Director Henry Ford has instructed us to transport you to a new safe house in City S. Please come with us.”
Marilyn blinked once she heard the name of the director. She touched the man protecting her on the shoulder, and he turned around and gave her a nod. Marilyn then spoke to the two newcomers.
“W-Who are you?”
The woman was the one who answered this time.
“We are members of the new elite squad set up by General Ford. I am Alpha Ten, and this is my colleague, Alpha Seven. The rest of us have been dispatched all over the country to help the citizens, and our leaders, Alpha One and Two, are on the outskirts of City S, helping Alec Ben handle the largest surge of the monsters. Right now, the center of City S is the safest place in America. Please, you have to come with us.”
Marilyn turned to the man in front of her again, trying to see what he thought. Due to the fact that this man was the one who had been protecting her the most so far, she had formed a slight dependence on his judgment in such dangerous situations. She knew that if he saw something off about the two of them, then it wouldn’t be a good idea to follow them.
The man eyed the two Alphas for a moment before he just sighed and closed his eyes. He could not sense any hostility from them, so he knew they were not enemies. Besides, even if they were, there was nothing he could do if they wanted to kill the president. They were able to take down the large monsters on their own, so he knew they could have easily taken down this shield and killed him if they wanted to. From how easily they fought against those monsters, he could only guess that they were high-level S-ranks at the very least.
“We’ll have you escort us then. Do you have transport?”
The man asked Alpha Seven this, and Alpha Seven nodded.
“We have a helicopter waiting outside. Please come this way.”
The man and the president were led out of the building through the hole in the wall, and just before Alpha Seven left, he turned around to look at Alpha Ten. He frowned and pointed to his eyes, and Alpha Ten’s eyes widened as she put her hand up to feel around her eyelid. There were scales growing out of it.
Shit! She almost lost control! She must’ve overexerted herself during that fight!
Alpha Ten brought out a syringe from behind her and stabbed it into her shoulder, sighing calmly as the red liquid surged through her and calmed her entire body. The scales around her eyes receded, and her eyes, which had begun to turn into slits, reverted back to regular human eyes. Once she was done, she threw the syringe to the side before bringing out a phone and making a call.
[Were you able to do it?]
Director Ford’s voice echoed from the other side of the phone, and Alpha Ten answered respectfully.
“Yes, sir. The president is safe. We are en route to City S.”
[Good. Ensure you stay close to her throughout this incident. Make sure she knows exactly who it was that protected her from the monsters. And try not to do anything that will paint the Alphas in a bad light.]
“Yes, sir.”
The phone clicked off, and the woman ran out of the building to meet up with the helicopter.
Alpha Ten and Alpha Seven had actually arrived at this location earlier than this, but they had been waiting outside the building for some time for the perfect moment so that they would be able to save the president right when she needed them most. All of this was a plan by Director Ford that he implemented the second he realized the country was under attack.
Normally, Director Ford’s experiments on superhumans would be frowned upon by the entire country, and if he were to bring them forward and tell the public they would be a part of the armed forces, he knew they would face a lot of backlash. But now that the Alphas were the ones who ‘rescued’ the president, it would be far easier to paint them as heroes.
And since the Alphas were also going around the country to save people, getting them into the system and integrating them into the military would not be as difficult as it was meant to be, because Director Ford knew very well just how easily people would accept someone that saves their life.

[The ALTERWORLD]
Mark and Gunter were flying through the sky at an insane speed! They were both heading toward a different part of the ALTERWORLD, and Mark was keeping an eye on Gunter to make sure he didn’t try to attack him while they were in the sky. After leaving Kevin behind in the volcanic region of the ALTERWORLD, the two of them flew into an area that looked like a ruined city. It was very similar to the part of the ALTERWORLD where Mark did his assessment when he went to the Superhumans Alliance building before, but Mark didn’t really have time to pay attention to that since he was busy trying his best to beat the shit out of Gunter. Since they were both fighting without any distractions, it was easy for Mark to focus entirely on Gunter, and Mark began to unleash consecutive critical hits on him to try and take him down as quickly as possible!
